There was no air conditioning, so it wasn't too hot in the summer. February was just right; the fan provided a comfortable gentle breeze. The hotel had WiFi, but it was extremely slow, so I mostly used my own internet during my stay. I accidentally left my Apple earphones at the hotel, and they notified me via email through Ctrip. However, they only offered to keep them for one week. I had already left the Big Island for Oahu. I emailed the hotel again to ask if they could ship them back, but received no reply. After contacting the hotel through Ctrip customer service, they replied that they could only keep them for one week and wouldn't ship them back—a point deduction for service. Otherwise, the environment, facilities, convenience, and cleanliness were impeccable for the price; it was excellent.

Even though we only stayed one night at Castle Hilo Hawaiian Hotel before an early flight, the experience was lovely and a clear standout compared to other nearby options. Our room was more affordable than the one we had at SCP, yet it was significantly more spacious, clean, and comfortable. We even had a private balcony, which added a really nice touch. The setting was serene, surrounded by beautiful banyan trees and with easy access to walking paths along the ocean. The atmosphere was peaceful and welcoming! perfect for a restful night before travel. I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy more of what the property had to offer. Highly recommend it if you're staying in Hilo.

The hotel itself is better than expected; You can tell that they went through a massive renovation in order to give a chill vibes based stay (on the outside). Inside of the room, it’s definitely an old hotel… I liked the furniture, but the windows were too open for my liking (you get the feeling that anyone can look into your room); Not as much of an issue since we used the curtains! The bath towels were covered in hair (ranging from long strands to tiny ***** pieces) which I found to be disgusting. The staff were more than willing to switch out the towels (there was still hair on them but a little dusting off mainly did the job). There was tiny ***** hair pieces in the bathtub as well, but I washed them down the drain so no biggie. The main issue that I had with this stay was that you could hear everything that was going on in rooms next door or outside. We heard loud screaming and fighting into the early ams, and it took a while for them to stop. This is not the hotel’s fault, but if you do stay here, keep in mind that the rooms aren’t very spacious, you can hear everything, and there might be hair in your towels. Overall, I really loved staying here and found it to be quite charming. The view in front of the hotel is INSANE. Though I listed negative traits about this hotel, I feel that it’s important to give some transparency to readers of this review. Mostly everyone goes into a hotel thinking that it’s 1000% clean and perfect. However, for me, the negative reviews are what I look for so that I know what to expect. You will definitely love the vibes and views this hotel has to offer, as well as the friendliness of the staff who worlds here.

Great experience! The room was very clean and warm, and the facilities were complete; the hostess Lory would prepare breakfast for everyone every morning, provide a variety of tropical fruits, and a variety of breads she made herself. The best thing is banana bread and blueberry muffin. Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the dining table in the common area, and watch the large green space at the door while chatting in a relaxed atmosphere.

Tropical wooden cabin. Just a heads-up, it's a two-story building with no elevator. The facilities are very well-maintained, and the kitchen is great. The balcony is super comfortable, and the neighborhood is very quiet. At night, you'll hear frogs and insects, and during the day, birdsong. It's very close to the beach, just a 5-minute walk to get into the water. Be aware that there aren't many places to eat or drink nearby, so you'll need to stock up beforehand. If you plan to do laundry, make sure to get coins from the front desk upon arrival. The front desk closes after 5:30 PM. The owner is a very nice Vietnam War veteran. There's also a very friendly cat at the property. This place really gives you a taste of local life.

Our half acres property is located directly on the Big Island's only open-to-the-public Hilo Municipal Golf Course, in the southern part of Hilo. We have our Main House in front and towards the back an 800 sq-ft Studio and Lanai facing East, with a direct view onto our garden and fruit tree orchard. Our orchard contains various seasonal fruits like papayas, starfruit, lychee, Jabuticaba, and more. Our central location gives you great access to all of East Hawaii's various activities.Just 7-15 min. away you have all of Hilo's shopping and dining opportunities. The historic part of Hilo Downtown with it's Hilo Farmer Market, Just Cruisin Coffee, and Ou Thai Food (on the farmers market with great Thai Green Papaya Salad), just mention a small few. The house is located just minutes from famous sites, including Rainbow Falls, Pe'epe'e Falls, the Boiling Pots rapids, and Kaumana Cave (an extinct lava tube). Outside, the expansive second floor lanai offers views of Hilo to the east and Mauna Kea peeking above the jungle treetops to the west. The house rests on a lovely palm-fringed half acre, populated by geckos, mongooses, mynah birds and others. Let the song of tree frogs send you to sleep, and roosters rouse you for another exciting day. Expect visits from the ubiquitous friendly green geckos. Enjoy preparing Hawaiian foods from Hilo's famous outdoor market in the spacious kitchen & outdoor grill, while your keiki (children) play ping-pong downstairs or explore the jungly yard. Even though we only stayed one night at Castle Hilo Hawaiian Hotel before an early flight, the experience was lovely and a clear standout compared to other nearby options. Our room was more affordable than the one we had at SCP, yet it was significantly more spacious, clean, and comfortable. We even had a private balcony, which added a really nice touch. The setting was serene, surrounded by beautiful banyan trees and with easy access to walking paths along the ocean. The atmosphere was peaceful and welcoming! perfect for a restful night before travel. I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy more of what the property had to offer. Highly recommend it if you're staying in Hilo.

There was no air conditioning, so it wasn't too hot in the summer. February was just right; the fan provided a comfortable gentle breeze. The hotel had WiFi, but it was extremely slow, so I mostly used my own internet during my stay. I accidentally left my Apple earphones at the hotel, and they notified me via email through Ctrip. However, they only offered to keep them for one week. I had already left the Big Island for Oahu. I emailed the hotel again to ask if they could ship them back, but received no reply. After contacting the hotel through Ctrip customer service, they replied that they could only keep them for one week and wouldn't ship them back—a point deduction for service. Otherwise, the environment, facilities, convenience, and cleanliness were impeccable for the price; it was excellent.

The hotel itself is better than expected; You can tell that they went through a massive renovation in order to give a chill vibes based stay (on the outside). Inside of the room, it’s definitely an old hotel… I liked the furniture, but the windows were too open for my liking (you get the feeling that anyone can look into your room); Not as much of an issue since we used the curtains! The bath towels were covered in hair (ranging from long strands to tiny ***** pieces) which I found to be disgusting. The staff were more than willing to switch out the towels (there was still hair on them but a little dusting off mainly did the job). There was tiny ***** hair pieces in the bathtub as well, but I washed them down the drain so no biggie. The main issue that I had with this stay was that you could hear everything that was going on in rooms next door or outside. We heard loud screaming and fighting into the early ams, and it took a while for them to stop. This is not the hotel’s fault, but if you do stay here, keep in mind that the rooms aren’t very spacious, you can hear everything, and there might be hair in your towels. Overall, I really loved staying here and found it to be quite charming. The view in front of the hotel is INSANE. Though I listed negative traits about this hotel, I feel that it’s important to give some transparency to readers of this review. Mostly everyone goes into a hotel thinking that it’s 1000% clean and perfect. However, for me, the negative reviews are what I look for so that I know what to expect. You will definitely love the vibes and views this hotel has to offer, as well as the friendliness of the staff who worlds here.

Tremendous space & person! I arrived late (after 8pm) as a surprise for my Family Reunion & so after dinner. The caretaker met me kindly after I got into the door (clear & simple instructions were given) to help me to get my bearings, carry my 2 carryons to my room & lead me to my room. He also provided a cold bottle of water, MUCH appreciated! I found the place to be very clean, spacious & well-organized with simple instructions in the bathroom, kitchen & shared spaces. I appreciate the simplicity & cleanliness, while still giving me my space! Tropical wooden cabin. Just a heads-up, it's a two-story building with no elevator. The facilities are very well-maintained, and the kitchen is great. The balcony is super comfortable, and the neighborhood is very quiet. At night, you'll hear frogs and insects, and during the day, birdsong. It's very close to the beach, just a 5-minute walk to get into the water. Be aware that there aren't many places to eat or drink nearby, so you'll need to stock up beforehand. If you plan to do laundry, make sure to get coins from the front desk upon arrival. The front desk closes after 5:30 PM. The owner is a very nice Vietnam War veteran. There's also a very friendly cat at the property. This place really gives you a taste of local life.

힐로에서는 아이들과 편하게 보내고 싶어서 침실이 2개 있는 방을 찾다가 예약했는데, 너무 만족 스러웠습니다. 무서보다 깨끗하고 15분거리면 Walmart, target, Ross 등 다양한 쇼핑스토어가 있어서 외식을 줄일 수 있었어요. 그리고 콘도 바로 앞에 커피숍은 맛도 있고 샌드위치도 팔아서 가벼운 식사를 즐기기에 너무 좋았습니다. 벌레도 없이 깨끗하고 프라이빗사고 주차도 할 수 있어서 아주 편하게 잘 지냈어요~ 블랙샌드비치는 1시간 15분, 힐로 볼케이노 공원은 40분 거리인데 차를 렌트하면 다녀오기에 불편함이 없습니다. 발코니 뷰도 멋져서 아침마다 커피마시면서 바라보기에 너무 좋았어요.

The location is excellent, in the town center, with many restaurants and supermarkets nearby. It's convenient for visiting the volcano and close to the airport. Cleanliness, at least superficially, seems acceptable. Breakfast ends around 8:00 or 8:30, consisting of chocolate waffles and coffee… Is there a deposit for check-in? All credit card information was manually entered, which was a first for me and made me very uneasy afterwards. My security code was also specifically verified… I suggest checking if cash is available.

Tropical wooden cabin. Just a heads-up, it's a two-story building with no elevator. The facilities are very well-maintained, and the kitchen is great. The balcony is super comfortable, and the neighborhood is very quiet. At night, you'll hear frogs and insects, and during the day, birdsong. It's very close to the beach, just a 5-minute walk to get into the water. Be aware that there aren't many places to eat or drink nearby, so you'll need to stock up beforehand. If you plan to do laundry, make sure to get coins from the front desk upon arrival. The front desk closes after 5:30 PM. The owner is a very nice Vietnam War veteran. There's also a very friendly cat at the property. This place really gives you a taste of local life.

The hotel itself is better than expected; You can tell that they went through a massive renovation in order to give a chill vibes based stay (on the outside). Inside of the room, it’s definitely an old hotel… I liked the furniture, but the windows were too open for my liking (you get the feeling that anyone can look into your room); Not as much of an issue since we used the curtains! The bath towels were covered in hair (ranging from long strands to tiny ***** pieces) which I found to be disgusting. The staff were more than willing to switch out the towels (there was still hair on them but a little dusting off mainly did the job). There was tiny ***** hair pieces in the bathtub as well, but I washed them down the drain so no biggie. The main issue that I had with this stay was that you could hear everything that was going on in rooms next door or outside. We heard loud screaming and fighting into the early ams, and it took a while for them to stop. This is not the hotel’s fault, but if you do stay here, keep in mind that the rooms aren’t very spacious, you can hear everything, and there might be hair in your towels. Overall, I really loved staying here and found it to be quite charming. The view in front of the hotel is INSANE. Though I listed negative traits about this hotel, I feel that it’s important to give some transparency to readers of this review. Mostly everyone goes into a hotel thinking that it’s 1000% clean and perfect. However, for me, the negative reviews are what I look for so that I know what to expect. You will definitely love the vibes and views this hotel has to offer, as well as the friendliness of the staff who worlds here.

There was no air conditioning, so it wasn't too hot in the summer. February was just right; the fan provided a comfortable gentle breeze. The hotel had WiFi, but it was extremely slow, so I mostly used my own internet during my stay. I accidentally left my Apple earphones at the hotel, and they notified me via email through Ctrip. However, they only offered to keep them for one week. I had already left the Big Island for Oahu. I emailed the hotel again to ask if they could ship them back, but received no reply. After contacting the hotel through Ctrip customer service, they replied that they could only keep them for one week and wouldn't ship them back—a point deduction for service. Otherwise, the environment, facilities, convenience, and cleanliness were impeccable for the price; it was excellent.

Tremendous space & person! I arrived late (after 8pm) as a surprise for my Family Reunion & so after dinner. The caretaker met me kindly after I got into the door (clear & simple instructions were given) to help me to get my bearings, carry my 2 carryons to my room & lead me to my room. He also provided a cold bottle of water, MUCH appreciated! I found the place to be very clean, spacious & well-organized with simple instructions in the bathroom, kitchen & shared spaces. I appreciate the simplicity & cleanliness, while still giving me my space! TY again for this last-minute booking that turned into a true treasure for myself as an introvert needing space, cleanliness & simplicity. Mahalo & May ke Akua bless U always! Dawn

Even though we only stayed one night at Castle Hilo Hawaiian Hotel before an early flight, the experience was lovely and a clear standout compared to other nearby options. Our room was more affordable than the one we had at SCP, yet it was significantly more spacious, clean, and comfortable. We even had a private balcony, which added a really nice touch. The setting was serene, surrounded by beautiful banyan trees and with easy access to walking paths along the ocean. The atmosphere was peaceful and welcoming! perfect for a restful night before travel. I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy more of what the property had to offer. Highly recommend it if you're staying in Hilo.

The room is really old, the facilities are not very good, just barely passable, (the faucet is even loose and falling off), but the hotel's own small bay is a big plus, very beautiful, the scenery is great, the angle faces the Kona Bay
