Reviews of Hotels in Matonge Brussels
Nachtisch
NachtischThe hotel doesn't have its own parking, but there's a convenient underground parking garage right next door. The location is excellent, making it easy to get anywhere. There's a water dispenser in the hallway and a capsule coffee machine in the room. The room itself is spacious, but the cleaning wasn't quite up to par, as there were items left behind by the previous guest. The shower area in the bathroom becomes very slippery when wet, posing a fall risk, and the toilet door doesn't have a lock.
Anonymous User
Anonymous UserA wonderful hotel right next to the Botanical Gardens. Quiet rooms. Sadly, however, the doors are quite thin and have a gap at the bottom, so you can hear everything that is happening outside of your room and also can hear everything that’s happening inside the rooms when you are in the hallway. Besides, the bathroom door is incredibly thin and the bathrooms are very echoey, so travelling not solo might introduce some awkwardness if you are one of the people with shy bladders. Other than that, everything was great. Clean, friendly, top service.
Soventol
SoventolThe hotel staff are friendly. Note that the hotel does not accept cash for payments, including the tourist tax for your stay.
The hotel itself is nice, modern, and equipped with a lift. The hotel focuses on minimalism, so you won't find a closed-door wardrobe. Both the room and toilet are equipped with a heater. The bed and latex pillows are comfortable. They also provide branded Nuxe shampoo and handwash.
Complimentary bottled water and coffee drinks are provided only on the first day of your stay.
However, there are a few areas where the hotel fell below my expectations:
No free slippers or toiletries (e.g., toothbrush and toothpaste) are provided.
The water flow from the shower is weak, although still bearable.
No fridge in the room.
You need to request an electric kettle from the receptionist. (How much would it cost to place one in each room?)
The most disappointing factor is that the air conditioner did not allow me to select ”cold” mode during my stay in mid-April—it only had ”heat” mode. Seriously?
Also, if you plan to store your luggage overnight at the hotel, it won't be possible as they do not accept overnight storage.
Location note:
The hotel is located about 500 metres from Bruxelles-Midi / Brussel-Zuid station. It can be quite scary walking from the train station to the hotel at night, as the surrounding area is occupied by African shops and residences. This may not be convenient for female travellers.
If your budget allows, I suggest staying at the Pullman, which is adjacent to the train station, especially if you need to catch an early train the next day. Otherwise, consider staying near Grand Place.
Guest User
Guest UserI really liked everything about the hotel. It was clean, and the service was 10000% perfect! All the amenities were there too. It even reminded me of a competing chain hotel whose name starts with 'I' and ends with 'BIS'. But, as you know, the neighborhood plays a significant role. It's best not to stroll around there in the evening unless you're a 'marginal' type of person. If you are, though, you'll easily find company and maybe even best friends, as they're sleeping everywhere there. Since Brussels isn't a very big city, it's only a 15-minute walk from the hotel to the Manneken Pis. So, everything was great! I recommend it.
Guest User
Guest UserOne of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at. Highly recommend this hotel to everyone; everything was amazing, from location and
the staff. You can truly feel the high-quality, star-level service here. They helped us with everything and made our stay very comfortable. Also, definitely try the room service: the smash burger here is absolutely delicious. Would 100% recommend this hotel!
Cansuqixing
CansuqixingThis hotel is really old... Don't let the five-star rating fool you, it feels more like a three-star. The elevator is incredibly slow, from 1999! The furniture in the room is also very dated. The front desk sells bottled water in glass bottles for 8 euros a pop – ridiculous. As our Belgian client told us, the hotel's location is right between a safe area and an unsafe one. It's close to the light rail, but there's no elevator from the light rail station to the street level, which is quite annoying. Walking to the city center is fairly convenient though. For the price, it offers good value for money; other hotels in the same area are more expensive.
Guest User
Guest UserThe room was alright, and the staff were very friendly, but the breakfast was borderline. There was a minimal selection, mostly unhealthy items, with no cucumbers, tomatoes, or oatmeal—just white bread and sweets. Parking was available for a fee.
브뤼셀 좋아!
브뤼셀 좋아!The location was fantastic! There was an airport bus stop nearby, and we could walk to the train station to visit Bruges, Ghent, and Antwerp. The hotel has two buildings, #1 and #2. Building #1 seemed to be the original, but we stayed in #2, and it wasn't the best environment. The rooms were packed closely together, the hallway had an unpleasant smell, and it was noisy outside the window. There was no refrigerator, and it was a hassle having to ring a bell to get the hotel's glass door opened every time we wanted to enter or leave. However, for the price, it was comfortable and safe, so we're grateful for that!
Guest User
Guest UserI loved staying at this hotel! Having the station so close was fantastic. The double room with a private bathroom was very spacious and comfortable. You can tell the bathrooms are a bit dated, but for a two-night stay, I have no complaints.FAQ about Hotels in Monument of the People's Heroes Brussels
