Because I decided to go to Malongsu temporarily, I booked this nearby hotel. The transportation around the hotel is not particularly convenient. It is suitable for traveling by car. Breakfast is quite good. There are convenience stores and restaurants downstairs. It is more convenient to eat.

When we booked it was described as a holiday house so we were not sure what to expect. Turned out our “room” was actually a 200 year old traditional house. One of several across the property. It is run by an extended family and has been in the family for several generations. We were given traditional robes and shown how to put them on properly. Our house consisted of two large rooms divided by sliding screens with a corridor going all the way around. There was a toilet attached and we had a “bathroom” next door - this turned out to be one of two onsens for our own use on the first night then divided into male and female the next day as more guests had arrived. We were surrounded by lush woodland and woke to the sound of bids. We could hear train noise in the distance but it was never enough to disturb us. The sleeping arrangements were traditional futons on otami mats and pillows that seemed to be filled with plastic beads. Even making up the beds was a very choreographed event. Dinner and breakfast were served in our house by the chef and an assistant. Dinner was eight courses of traditional Japanese dishes, brought to us one at a time and the ingredients explained to us by the chef. Breakfast was similar but only six courses. We asked to be given less the next day as we just couldn’t finish it all. We were close to a number of different walks, and our hosts offered to drive us to any starting point we requested. They also arranged for a private tour of the history museum the day we left. Expensive, not your regular luxury accommodation but a priceless experience.

We recently stayed at this hotel while visiting Japan. It is in a great location as it is only a few minutes walk from the trains and buses. Our room was very small, even by Japanese standards and, although it was clean, the wallpaper was peeling in several places and there were marks and dents on the walls. We had to wait for quite a few minutes to register, as there was no one at the registration desk. When she did show up, we had a bit of difficulty communicating as she spoke very little English and we do not speak any Japanese. There are no restaurant facilities at the hotel and we did not attempt to get recommendations from the clerk (due to poor communication). However, when we went for a walk from the hotel, we easily found several good places to eat, so the location is good for restaurants as well. We would stay here again if we were in Nakatsugawa for only one day but would probably look for something a bit better if we were staying longer.

We stayed one night at this golf resort almost by accident. The staff are terrific. Located well into the countryside from Ena, our taxi cost 5000 yen, something we hadn't counted on. The hotel is grand in scale but very dated, and almost a time capsule of 70s faux western style. Our room was 4 times as big as anything else we've had in Japan. When we stayed at this 5 storey hotel we were 2 of 6 guests. Everything you need is there for a good night's accomodation but it is isolated. Good for golfers I guess. Again the staff were terrific
