This place is going down hill. I stayed here a few years back and now they just are letting it rot and yelling at there customers. I’ve never had an employee yell at my mom over a room problem. The bathroom smells bad and u get charged a fee if they smell smoke in your room and I was calling to let them know people are smoking in the property because it’s coming into my room and the lady told me to figure it out myself.

I had an Airbnb booked and the day before I was supposed to arrive they canceled on me because of flood damage. This was the day before Easter Sunday and needed to be in Encinitas. I called around and either everything was sold out or they were Price gouging. I came across the Lucadia Beach Inn and right away the gentleman on the phone was extremely nice. Ive passed this hotel a few times while I lived in Carlsbad and from the outside it looked very clean. I told the gentleman that I do have a small dog and he said we charge a pet fee which is understandable. When we got there we were greeted politely and the manager said that my dog cannot be left unattended. I completely understood their policy. The room is very clean but you are right on the highway so you do hear a lot of the noise from the cars, and people walking by. The train tracks are right there as well. We spent two nights there and I will definitely stay there again. Highly recommend it. Next time though I will ask for a room away from the street. Thank you for an excellent stay!

My wife and I wanted to get away for a few days and stay close to the beach. We chose the Moonlight Beach Motel based on the reviews. PROS: Excellent location!!! Within a few minutes walk of Moonlight Beach, probably one of the nicest beach areas on the North San Diego Coast. Also within easy walking distance of many shops and restaurants, as well as the train station. We actually took a day trip by the Coaster to Old Town San Diego. Our room was recently renovated, very spacious and clean. It actually had two king beds, a first for me, and they were comfortable. We were on the 2nd floor and had a nice partial view of the ocean and beach from our balcony. The shower had nice pressure and hot water. The TV was new and the WiFi worked fine. There is a small fridge inside one of the dressers. It was very quiet while we were there. There are BBQ grills outside facing the beach that we didn't use. There is plenty of parking. CONS: The outside of the motel is average looking, not a big deal. The office is very small and located within the property. They provide coffee and packaged Danishes but no continental breakfast, also not a big deal. We were told that there is no early check-in, and emailed as well. We did arrive two hours early and did double check this policy, and the front desk clerk confirmed. If the room is ready, I don't know why one can't check in early. Though the rooms were newly renovated, they seemed unfinished. Our bathroom did not have baseboards or a shelf in the shower for shampoo, soap, and other accessories. There was no shelf in the closet. There was an iron and board, but no hairdryer. My understanding is that there is no ice machine or laundry room, though that did not matter to us. Housekeeping was an issue. We stayed two nights. After our first night, we left in the morning and did not return until about 3 pm. The room had not been cleaned. About 20 minutes later there was a knock on the door and it was the housekeeper. She asked us if we needed anything. I said more towels and to have the bathroom cleaned. We could make our own bed. She took away the old towels and provided new ones, and that was it. A quick inspection revealed that she had not cleaned the sink or toilet, or emptied the trash. I wonder what she would have done if we were not in the room. I had read a review that said some of the housekeepers did a great job and others tried to get away with the bare minimum. We experienced the latter. We did enjoy our trip to Encinitas and our stay at the Moonlight Beach Motel. The location can't be beat and the price, at least for this time of year, was reasonable. Expect clean, spacious, no-frills accommodations and if your room is on the 2nd or 3rd floor enjoy the ocean views. Should we decide to return to Encinitas for a vacation we would stay here again.

My husband and I have been owners at Aviara for 22 years and our family always looks forward to spending time at this facility. This year there was a clear decline in service. During our week stay, we had to call housekeeping every single day to request more of the standard items- towels, shampoo, kitchen or washing soaps. Things like Kleenex or paper towels were never replaced when they ran out. Though all the staff was pleasant, there was absolutely no follow through with actions. I had mentioned three times- pre-check-in, at check-in and at checkout that it was my daughter’s birthday and she had had a very hard year. I requested balloons or such to celebrate, but nothing was done until we were literally departing and then only because I mentioned it to the manager. I know this is not standard procedure for a Four Seasons. Many activities were not operating yet and that was a disappointment. There was no kids club, and except for one Saturday activity there was nothing scheduled for children. When our children were young, there was so much activity available and that is not the case. This was not a typical Four Seasons experience and we were all disappointed that it didn’t live up to our pre-Covid experiences.

The location of the hotel is very good, it is definitely a summer resort in summer. There is no hotel private beach at all. Don't even think about it except to see a small bay or beach. The price is not cheap, nearly 500 dollars a night, the hotel only provides a few pool bubbles. There is a golf course, and the hotel staff is absolutely top-notch service, which is commendable.

Cape Ret is located right off the 101, close to the on/off ramp to the i5. Great lobby. Staff was absolutely welcoming. Room was on the 1st floor, facing the ocean. It was a walk to get to room. All the way past a few halls and turns the second to last room... was ours! Room is spacious. The bathroom was also quite big. The scented oils in the bathroom was very welcoming. There was a balcony that had a great view of the ocean. Other amenities include the resort style pool. plenty of parking. Both across the property as well as towards the side entrance of hotel. (FYI there is a parking fee)

The room was clean. The landscape room, I can see that the scenery can only be said in general. Breakfast is simple and the pool is not clean. Going out is still very convenient. Legoland and Ole are relatively close. Ole East is not much.

Tired…tired…tired… the hotel is really tired. It is a shame, because it has great character. A lot of your experience will depend on the room you are assigned. We were first given the “Lattice” room. 104. It is dark, feels closed in and the tub did not drain well. The bathroom smelled of sewer. The gentleman who checked us in on our arrival date was slow and cranky. The following day we asked to move to a different room. The staff that day (especially Andrew) was very nice and for an extra 30.00 they moved us to the Country French room. 106. What a difference! Although the bathroom still had a slight sewer smell, the room had better light and even a little bit of an ocean view. It is unfortunate that whoever owns the hotel is not maintaining it or keeping it up to date. The rates are reasonable for the location but, as they say, “you get what you pay for.” I read in other reviews that the hotel was being renovated, but I saw no signs of it. Old wallpaper, old carpet, old fixtures, old… just old. Upstairs deck is nice for sunset though. And having parking was a real benefit! If I need a cheaper place to stay near the ocean I would go back, but I would be very specific about which room I reserved. Lots of stairs to negotiate for the upper level rooms, just FYI.

There are several kinds of bread, waffles, milk, juice, eggs, meat patties for breakfast... There is no way to meet the standard requirements of international hotels, but you can have enough, American breakfast is like this! The room was really small enough to look like only one elevator was dirty and far from my room! The guests of the accommodation are also compared... The corridor is the big corridor. In the morning, there are shit in the hallway, and the children cry in the middle of the night. The restaurant for breakfast is very small. There are several tables, one or two American families, chatting there. Laughing! At the time of check-in, I also caught up with an aunt who was communicating with the front desk about the loss of her mobile phone. In short, it was a little unsafe!

My wife and I like Marriot properties, and have stayed at several. We recently joined the Bonvoy club. This hotel is our least favorite. We came to San Diego for a wedding in Vista, about 25 minutes away. I booked this hotel on brand reputation. I should have read the reviews. Lesson learned. The property is in a business area, close to the local airport. It looks OK from the outside, nothing special. They allowed us to check in early, which we appreciated. The young woman at the front desk was friendly and pleasant. She asked us if we wanted a balcony. We liked that. We were on the 2nd floor. Lo and behold, we quickly found out that, starting on the 3rd floor, and seemingly right above us, they are starting a renovation. For the 1.5 hours before we left for the wedding, we were treated to jackhammering and drilling. I had a headache and this did not help. My wife wanted to take a nap. Not happening. Called the front desk and asked to be moved. No can do. The clerk apologized and offered us extra points and a free breakfast (did I mention that there is no complimentary food, just a Starbucks type establishment called the Bistro?) but the breakfast reviews were not good so we passed. The rest of the night was uneventful. AC was good, bed was comfortable, shower was fine. Furniture is outdated and worn, hence the renovation. The next morning, now Sunday, construction commenced again at 8:30. In addition, we received a bulletin telling us that the water would be turned off from 11 am to 3 pm. We were extremely disappointed, being unable to enjoy a nice, quiet room. Upon check-out(early, of course), my wife mentioned our dissatisfaction to the front desk clerk, a nice young man named Abdias that identified himself as a manager. He was gracious enough to take $100 off the cost of the room, which we appreciated. Still, my recommendation is to avoid this hotel for now. They are just getting started on the renovation, starting with the top floor and working their way down. It will be awhile before it is finished.

I have gone to multiple best western and this place was amazing. My first experience and everything from driving up to what felt like a castle was so cool. Michelle took care of us. From calling on the phone for pre-checking she was such a delight. Give her a raise because she is nothing but sweet. Checking in was a breeze. Just note parking is $10, and there are plenty of indoor and outdoor. If you need anything, the front attendant can help with any amenities. Be kind to the front desk, just let them know your needs and they will best assist you. We had a room right by the elevator since we were here on business and need to be in and out. Not loud at all, and wow I was impress by the interior of the room. The room was very spacious and did not fee crowded at all. We had access to a balcony that was also very spacious. Everything was really comfortable even the sofa bed. Only thing I could suggest would be a microwave in the room. Everything felt really modern and the TV had all the right channels. The bathroom was also really nice. Super spacious and modern too. It was glass and a walk in and not the dated tub with a shower curtain. This is one for the books and would 100% stay. Breakfast was great too. So refreshing that the breakfast station was its own entity by the pool. Very spacious and lots of items to choose from. Not sure if the hot meals rotate but I loved the egg and cheese omelette. If I could make a suggestion, potatoes would be great. But very easy and a variety to choose from and something to get you going. We were only here for 1 night but everything was easy breezy. If I am ever in San Diego or Del Mar, I am definitely going back here!

It is convenient to travel by traffic, and it is very close to the entrance and exit of Highway 5. Easy to travel. Not far from Legoland. The carpet is dirty, the TV can't be turned on, and changing a room to charge the USB is bad and can't be used. The toilet is particularly small, and the sound of the exhaust fan is particularly large! Overall, I have lived in the worst hotel in the United States.
