0.49km from Home Ec. WorkshopThe Good We'll start with the good. The room was clean and had a microwave and mini fridge so you could make your breakfast in the comfort of your own room. You got a good amount of towels, and the shower in 233 had great water temp and pressure. If you need a wake up call, just ring down to the concierge and they will gladly give you one. Staff albeit young college kids, were very kind, friendly and helpful. The Continental Breakfast was decent, bread, Bagels and English muffins, cold ceral, oatmeal packets, individual wrapped pastries and muffins, fruit cups, yogurt cups, fresh fruit, Coffee, tea, cocoa and juice, Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches. You have access to a toaster and microwave in the breakfast room. Which was 3-4 small two seater tables. You get a selection of newspapers. Many multinational tv channels. The Meh The outlets by the bed were unaccessible sans for a power stripe that is sticking out from under the nightstand. Not very handicap friendly when I am down on my hands and knees trying to plug my CPAP machine in. The pool... I didn't get to enjoy that like I had wanted, it was a 3 block down hill walk. Again, not very handicap friendly. Plus the pool isn't open during regular hours. Its open in time blocks. Confusing and not at all convenient. The Very, Very Bad The beds were the worst bit. Which in my most humbly and honest opinion should be a top priority. I mean you're a hotel, a place for people to lay their heads down, rest and recharge for the next day. Rest was not to be had in this room. The first rooms bed was like concrete. I sat on it and it didn't even dip from my weight... I am a big woman, I buy 2 airplane seats for a reason. The bed should most definitely dip under my weight! I asked to be moved to another room. It wasn't much better, but because I didn't want to lug my bags around again, I stayed. My friends bed however, was very soft. The pillows are extremely over stuffed, make for a bit of a crock in the neck. Staying with the Iowa House Hotel? If you don't want a Concrete Firm bed, ask for a soft one! Bottom Line, If your not too concerned with bed comfort and having to walk 3 blocks to the fitness center and work around their chaotic pool schedule, the Iowa House Hotel isn't bad, it's Clean and Meh.
