|1.08km from city centerLUNA - really made our 2+1 nights' stays special, Champion employee, making onward reservation and solving ccard stumble. We arrived St-Malo from Guernsey 27/10/21 w/out any ”Pass Sanitaire” due issuing system v v slow. LUNA welcomed and sorted dbl-vacc certs/passports and - after two tries at local small restaurants' rejects due no ”p-s” and no patience to check our alt docs, she supplied delicious shepherd's pie and lasagne conveniently avail on ibis soil - and du vin. The chausee beachside was being seriously road-worked due tidal damage, so we received advice abt alt pkg. LUNA's cheerfulness and service has made us determined to laud and applaud her, and tho we gathered there may be a corporate Accor/Ibis portal to credit super staff, this TripAdv seems to be the it, so we hope this reaches the levels of promotions, even more lady managers - top 44% - and generally supporting and encouraging fabulous, appropriate personlities ansd gluing fabulous staff. The bottom line, or rather top line, was, after several days to roam and visit friends, due her perfect work, we returned for a last night before a brutal early ferry departure, and there she was, gorgeous, smiling and cheerful, with an upgraded yummy king-bed-double room (has great, larger shower) and we found a Happy Birthday Card from the Team IBIS as well as a blow-up - wait for it - ibis logo cushion upon our bed - LUNA had discovered that my husb Pete's Birthday was that very day, and after a gentle week or so of celebrations around it, this was truly ”the candle-on-the-cake”, and LUNA, we cannot thank you enough for making our stays so special !! We would love so much that you rise thru the corp as they are extremely fortunate to have you !!! Blessings x

|0.21km from city centerWe recently stayed in Saint Malo for two nights as part of our trip through Normandy and Brittany. The hotel is well located to visit the old walled city, reasonably priced and is on a very quiet street. The room was very clean, the bed comfortable and the staff at the front desk very help. I would fully recommend this hotel for a stay in a beautiful part of the city.

|2.43km from city centerOurs was only a one night stay before catching the ferry to Portsmouth the following morning. We arrived at 18.15 after nine hours travelling but were cheered by the efficient and friendly reception. Our room had fabulous views over the beach and was very well-appointed although compact - the bathroom was relatively even more compact but had everything one could want. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent with very good service and pretty good value. Breakfast was plentiful and very efficiently conducted. The level of engagement by staff was excellent throughout (from booking onwards). The hotel thoroughly deserves the good reviews it receives here!

|1.46km from city centerIt's not amazing, but it's good enough. Our family room was very nice and specious. It's also easy to come with the car, although their parking is very limited and small. But all in all it works well for the price. If the price of the room makes sense to you and you don't mind not being within walking distance from the historical centre, it's a good choice.

|4.23km from city centerI don't know where to start? So I'm going to do it chronologically. When I arrived, I had to make the queue, 20min to reach the counter. I booked via the website specifying the number of people, the dog, the breakfast option and the final household. Nothing was noted on my card. And when I announced the breakfast dej... I felt the malaise of the employees. I ask confirmation that he was well delivered to the house between 9h and 11h, but not, it changed. It was to us to go and find him between 9h and 10h. We have to predict what to carry him and above all the price!!!! For 1 pot of carrefour confection for the week with bread, growing, chocolate bread, milk (sub brand), orange juice (sub brand)... Next, the accommodation, how to say? The washing box was completely broken, impossible to keep the bases, 1 fire HS, mirror light HS bathroom, everything was in bad condition. Nothing was except the sofa that looked good. The outdoor furniture was broken. Home 6/8 loss with only 4 seats outside a table of 6 people... 6 glasses... Inconsistent with accommodation. Furthermore, no sailing to windows... it is possible to discuss with the neighbor's room without problems. The terraces? You need to love eating in community. Who eats what? Drink what? We know everything! It is very fine houses. I was awake with crying and noise. The last day I made a fat mat until 8:20!!! You'll have realized it... escape this Nemea if you keep to a minimum of comfort and intimacy. I've nevertheless had the chance to have a grass corner, the friends were in front of the pool and so they stayed home only to sleep!

|0.25km from city centerI really enjoyed my long weekend in St Malo at this hotel. I was so exhausted from touring other cities in France, I wanted a place to relax and just enjoy the scenery. From my room at hotel Chateaubriand, I could open large double windows and enjoy the view of the water. Great location where you can walk to all the restaurants and shops in the old town. You can walk there from the train station depending on your mobility and how much luggage you have; it was about a 20-25 minutes walk from the train station to the hotel. Near the hotel, I passed a casino, but that’s not really my thing. I found St Malo to be very pretty, very relaxing, appeared as if everyone there was also on vacation and just wanted to have a good time. When I arrived at the hotel, my room was ready, I found the hotel to be very quaint, very cute. I really liked my room, very functional and comfortable. If you only want modern decor and very updated, this may not be right for you, but I thought it was great. Checkout was efficient and polite. If you’re not already aware, St Malo can get very windy, and a bit chilly as the sun starts to set, and I was there in August. This was perfect for me, exactly the type of weather and the type of hotel I was looking for. If I go back to St Malo, I would stay here again.

|0.59km from city centerWe carefully killed the time until 3:00 check-in but our room was still not ready until almost 3:30. Our sea view was nice. The room was well- designed but tiny. Bathroom was also very well-designed and appointed. We’re naive Americans and had never seen the thing where you have to insert your hotel key to get any electricity in the room, had to figure that out on our own. We speak a bit of French, the hotel clerk insisted on English, but he did not understand that I wanted food but my husband didn’t, so we were served expensive food we did not want. And the bed “linens” felt like some kind of disposable plasticish weave. Not terrible, not great.

|1.98km from city centerMy idea of the perfect hotel on the waterfront in St Malo was one with a balcony to watch the gigantic tides come in and out. I researched many, and to my surprise the one with the best offering was the Best Western Alexandra, a chain I associate with America’s West. In our three days and nights in St Malo, the BW proved its perfection. The location is very good — walkable from the Old City but near the fun of the ocean, with kite surfers, sailing go-karts, kids playing in the sand. It is close to Les Charmettes Hotel, which had a lively front porch happy hour and a wonderful Breton kir. And on the street side it is in a neighborhood of exquisitely beautiful stone houses with architectural touches it was a joy to discover. Plus a cheese store, a chocolate boutique and a pharmacy well-stocked with all the French beauty products American women load up on to bring home. But the overarching reason I reserved here is that they had available at a reasonable price an oceanfront room with either a bow window or a terrace that boasted a table and two chairs. When I reserved, about two months early, I specifically requested a terrace, and I received a message back that my request had been noted. Happily, my request was granted, and the little terrace was wonderful. The room itself was compact, but amazingly managed to have everything we needed. It had a tiny fridge, a good shower, great wifi and a wonderful towel warmer. We enjoyed having breakfast each morning in the waterfront restaurant, Etrave. We could choose from a small (12 euros) or large (18 euros) breakfast as it was not included in our room price. If it had been warmer in the mornings we might have liked to dine on our terrasse but the first week of May was not warm until the afternoon! Then it was sunny and delightful. We had dinner one night in the hotel restaurant and had a lovely meal, one of the nicest of our trip. The fish soup was especially good. The menu was quite varied (I had seafood risotto and my husband some type of perhaps quail) and the wine list reasonably priced. In addition, the hotel staff was friendly and quite helpful any time we needed anything. One staffer took the time to make several phone calls for us on our last morning when we were headed for an overnight on Le Mont St Michel and realized we didn’t have the code from our hotel to park in the overnight lot. The amount of French required was beyond what I had for that. We also appreciated the secure parking ($14 a night), which wasn't so critical in early May but I'm sure is worth its weight in gold in July and August. But we especially loved waking up each morning and coming back each day to the view and sound of the dramatically changing tides from our terrace — something so special to Brittany and St Malo. I would love to come back again.

|0.9km from city centerCharming seafront hotel - rooms facing the beach have a breathtaking view- day and night- and pretty perfect to watch the stunning sunset from. Rooms were a decent size and well equipped with storage space. The art on the walls nods at your location- arty photos of fishing boats and that sort of thing. The bed was very comfortable. Bathroom absolutely fine, decent showers and water pressure. The staff we met were friendly and spoke English when our French let us down! Parking is a bit of a pain because you have to find a spot anywhere in the streets around the hotel which isn’t great. The breakfast is served in the only food/drink area- it also houses the small bar for drinks in the evening. It’s nicely decorated and the breakfast was good with lots of pastries, hot options such as eggs etc. The coffee machine is a little disappointing, would be nicer to have fresh coffee but all the Accor hotels we stayed in use the same machines! This room did tend to get rather warm and stuffy when we were there - a storm had blown through the night before but the winds were still very high so opening a window meant it blowed a gale indoors! So if there is air conditioning it didn’t seem to work. An easy walk to town and pleasant environment overall. We would stay here again with our fingers crossed for a good parking spot!

|0.12km from city centerWe very much liked this hotel but want to warn others not to book a terrace room at an extortionate extra cost. We thought we would treat ourselves to the suite with the terrace - this was a big mistake. The suite and the hotel were lovely and I would stay again. The position is excellent as the hotel is very central yet tucked just away from the main noise of the town. The room was lovely - air conditioned, clean, spacious and quiet. The breakfast was good and the evening meal in the restaurant also very nice. The problem was the awful terrace which we had paid extra for. Whilst it was a good size it had absolutely no view - just of the high walls of other buildings which were a few metres away! I think the bins or kitchen doors were at the bottom. We went to the desk to complain and were told that as it was after 4pm we couldn't change rooms - the staff were not very interested. I asked whether all the terrace rooms had this view and was told yes!!! All terrace rooms were at the back of the hotel - looking at walls. I was appalled that the hotel is charging so such extra for these terraces - they really are just smoking areas (a very plain table and chairs were provided with an ash tray). If you look at the picture on the website it implies a pretty, airy terrace. Whilst I didn't expect to see the sea from my terrace - I did think the view might be better than a close up of some plain walls. I am very upset that we paid so much for this and want to warn others not to be tempted to book one!

Saint Malo
|3.12km from city centerI was on a roadtrip with my friend through Normandy, and our final hotel destination was going to be Kyriad Prestige in Saint Malo. We booked via booking.com and arrived early evening. Upon check-in met by kind staff - who mentioned we needed to pay upon check-in for the full stay. We were surprised, as this was not mentioned anywhere in our booking confirmation and we mentioned we would prefer to pay upon check-out. Then the mood of the staff changed and we were told that we had no other option than to pay. We were taken aback by this attitude, but opted to pay. We were tired after a long day behind the wheel. Our double room did have twin beds - but faced a loud street - so we were given a different room upon request. Here the staff was helpful. The new room faced the pool - also meaning it had a terrace straight below the only window with ongoing noise from guests. Most annoying was the air conditioning system which presented itself with a not so nice high pitch all day and night. It was warm those days and we closed the window and relied on the aircon - except - this needed activation by reception staff and could only be set at 22 degrees (not much help if you need cool air). For various reasons, we did not feel comfortable at the Kyriad Prestige and as we had a flexible booking, we opted to check out early and find another hotel. Now the fun began. We checked with staff in the evening to confirm that it was ok to check out the next day without suffering any additional costs. This was confirmed - we just needed to make sure to check out before noon. Next morning we checked out - and had stayed there 1 night (out of a total of 5). We asked to get the other 4 nights refunded, as we had pre-paid. This was a HUGE fuss - and caused a lot of heated debate - as the staff told us this was only possible if we gave them a notice from our banks, stating our account numbers, swift codes etc. This is by the way against the Kyriads own terms and conditions and not in accordance with the EU GDPR rules of data protection. Staff kept ademant that a refund could not be made via our credit cards and that only the supervisor could decide on refunds. Now this was a Sunday, and the supervisor was going to be in on Monday - so we said we would return Monday to speak with her. Until then, we asked for and received confirmation, that the Kyriad would not charge us for more than the 1 night we stayed there. On the Monday morning, checking our credit card accounts, it became obvious that the Kyriad did in fact charge us for the whole 5 nights. We made our way to Kyriad to talk to the supervisor and where fully ”armed” with terms and conditions, regulations and documentation evidence. When we met the supervisor, she greeted us friendly and professionally. She mentioned that she new our case and that we needed a refund for 4 nights. Not a problem and the refund could be made directly to our credit card. The supervisor explained that sometimes the staff woul

|2.83km from city centerIn general I would say this is a very nice hotel of the mid-size, boutique variety. The property appears to be split into two parts, connected via the reception corridor. We had a top floor room in the part away from the main section with the bar. The room was well-furnished, and the bathroom very pleasant with decent equipment and a bath and shower. It could have been bigger but had plenty of cupboard space. The breakfast was good; nice, tasty coffee, plenty of cold choices and bacon and eggs as well. The bar is really attractive and great to sit out on a hot day and in the evening on our visit. The hotel is a block from the beach which is stunning. Miles of sand and views of St Malo down a long wide promenade. Do beware that the tide comes in at an unusual pace. In an hour or so the great wide beach was totally submerged up to the promenade. No coincidence Mont St Michel is just nearby. It is quite a long walk into the walled city from here, but it is totally worth it and the old town has everything from smart shops and deluxe restaurants, to Pizza kitchens, seafood specialists and some nice pubs. Buses run all the time to the walls up the main road past the hotel and we bought cheap tickets from a machine, so easy if you don't want to drive or walk back. But there is a vast car park at the old town if you do. One issue. We went in September and it was unusually hot (35C). Our room got quite hot as there is no air conditioning and the sun shone in during the day. However, it is such a quiet location we had our window open all night and slept fine. The other consideration is parking. You need to call them and book in advance to park on the premises. On the other hand, we were there 3 days and got parked outside every time without fail for free. It was a really lovely stay and the reception and staff were welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable and spoke very good English.

The in-house tea room was great for tea/drinks with a view and the optional breakfast was well curated and prepared - a good value! Our room overlooking the sea was a bit cramped but clean and good for us.
