Overall, we had a terrific week. The location, staff and food were outstanding. The room itself was very basic – see my criticisms below – but this was the pension, not the main hotel, so is to be expected, up to a point. We’d certainly be happy to return, for the location, food and service, along with Joker card for the lifts, buses and more. Our only criticism of the food is that it was often over-salted. Chefs forget that salt can be added at the table but not taken away. They wouldn’t presume to know how much sugar I want in my coffee, so why do they think they know how much salt I want in my food? The rooms in the pension are compact but adequate – about the size of a standard balcony cabin on a cruise ship. They are plain but clean and comfortable, although our beds (room 24) were squeaky. There’s only one pillow each – soft, squidgy foam ones. I imagine extra pillows would be provided, on request. A small safe is installed in the wall, big enough for passports and phones but not things like iPads and laptops. There’s no fridge or a/c (and it was hot when we were there at the end of August). Our balcony was shared by four rooms (22-25). Still, that’s much better than no balcony. All of those rooms and others alongside the street can suffer from early morning noise. The worst thing, for us, was the lighting. It made the room really gloomy and uninviting, not a place you’d want to spend much time. All the lights are very weak and yellow. The bathroom was slightly brighter than the bedroom but still hopeless for shaving and make-up. That’s especially true since the mirror was recessed and behind a big basin, so you can’t get at all close to it. The bulbs in the bedside lamps are 11W CFLs. I’d guess the ceiling lights are the same. The hotel should replace all of them. I’d suggest 5W LEDs which would be much brighter and provide a much more attractive light. The bulbs would almost certainly pay for themselves in a year, so there’s no excuse for not replacing them immediately. The wi-fi drove me crazy. It works well when connected but you have to sign in every 24 hours. In fact, I often found I had to reconnect to the wi-fi several times per day, almost every time I woke my iPhone. Worse, with my Windows 10 laptop, I had to reboot every time I woke it from sleep, to get the login prompt to appear. Otherwise it would connect but with no internet. The network in the main hotel is completely separate, so you need to connect to that too, if using mobile devices (no sign-in needed for that one). For information rather than criticism, to help you decide what to pack, here are some things you might expect to find in a hotel that you won’t find in Pension Silvester: tea/coffee-making facilities (no surprise – it’s unusual to find them in Austria), hairdryer (can borrow one from reception), power sockets by the desk (there’s one each side of the bed, also one in the bathroom (which wouldn’t be allowed in the UK), clock, pen/pencil/pa

Fantastic hotel in a great location, just a short walk to the ski lifts, and very friendly, helpful staff for us non German speakers. Could not have asked for more, they helped us with dinner bookings and really went above and beyond. Great ski room and excellent pizzas and breakfast. We were so happy with our stay that we have booked another 10 night stay for next February.

We had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Edelweiss , and cannot recommend this hotel enough, with a central location , newly refurbished interiors giving a warm and cosy feeling, welcome after a long day on the slopes. The spa and pool area are a highlight and the bar and restaurant deliver. However the best thing about this hotel is definitely the staff and the service , from the moment we arrived they went above and beyond to make our stay successful assisting in ski passes, rental and advising on the best schnapps and local wine at the bar. Over and above the warm welcome and early morning coffee on our departure , my husband misplaced his wedding ring , and the staff went the extra mile to find the ring and have it returned to us in London. Thank you Hotel Edelweiss for a wonderful stay we will be back!

A year ahead of our holiday we booked the penthouse at Adler to stay there with 2 families. 5 days before our holiday we received an email that due to a booking of the owner we could no longer stay at the penthouse and were rebooked to 2 other apartments. They offered us compensation and promised the new apartments were great and we would love them once we were there. We had no idea that Adler did not own the apartments nor that the owners can just claim their apartment, regardless if they agreed to rent it out. We did not agree with the 2 apartments but they refused to honor our booking and there is just so much you can do at that timeframe in the busiest week of the year where everything is fully booked. The 2 apartments were in no way comparable to what we originally booked in terms of facilities or level and the compensation they offered did not at all reflect the difference in experience. But more important, this was not what we aimed for when booking 1 large accommodation with 2 families. We simply would not have booked there if we could not all be in one place or we knew our booking could be changed last minute for this reason. Things can always happen but giving priority to a last minute owner booking is just total disrespect for your paying clients who booked a year ahead and you have an agreement with. And then denying the large difference in experience and continuing to claim it is great is just a total lack of hospitality and missing the point of what people aim for when they go on holiday and book something specific. From the interaction with the owner of Adler it is clear that we have a totally different view on agreements and hospitality. You would not expect this from a 4 star resort. We will never stay there again.

Rosentalerhof is very close to a ski-lift and nearby all the bars and reataurants. The hotel is a fantastic choice for ski-holiday and our family enjoyed it thoroughly. Rooms are very clean and has beautiful balconies looking onto mountain and town. Breakfast is of a very high standard and their is a wide variety of food and more than enough to eat!!! The service in the hotel is excellent and people are very friendly, welcoming and help with whatever you need. Loved the spa with wonderful teas to drink in your relaxing chair.

Great family run Pension in between Saalbach and Hinterglemn. The rooms were spacious and clean with a daily maid service. There is a free shuttle to the slopes and you can ski back to the hotel if snow conditions permit. We were half board, the breakfast service is a buffet with plenty to chose from. The evening meal was a choice of two dishes, all of which were excellent and to high standard. This is a family run business that has been passed down from the generations before and is in very good hands.
