Staff were very nice, excellent location, comfortable bed, lovely garden. But there were two fairly serious problems with the room. The shower: the shower had no shelf. That meant that I had to put my bar of soap and my bottle of shampoo on the floor of the shower and then scrabble around to try and find them, avoiding standing on the soap. This was very difficult and to be honest, scary. The only other option was to put them in the bidet, and then hang out of the shower trying to find them. Please folks, for the sake of a €10 wire basket, make your showers safe. The ‘smoking’ patio outside my bedroom window: there were some tables and chairs and ashtrays in the patio area just outside my window. I didn’t realise the impact of this until I went out for the day, leaving the window open, (there were bars, so it was quite safe). When I came back the room absolutely stunk of stale tobacco. It took ages with the fan on to get rid of the smell. I spoke to one of the staff and asked if the smoking area could be moved to the end of the fairly large garden, away from the bedrooms, but she shrugged and said there was nothing she could do. This really needs to be looked into. Second-hand smoke is a serious problem. Please look into preventing this. Thank you.

We stayed here during a 16 day trip touring Northern Italy. This is a beautiful room! We arrived at Chez Moi by taxi as it was about a 20 minute walk from the train station - only €8. Communication with arrival instructions was by email and was very good. We were met by the lovely Anna who had the air conditioning on ready for us. She was very helpful and gave us directions to the centre of the city and recommendations for good food which we took and she was right!!! The room was meticulously clean and very modern with coffee machine, kettle, a selection of teas and coffee and biscuits all included. There was also a mini bar with a small variety of soft and alcoholic drinks which were very reasonably priced - €1.50 for water, €2.50 for a Becks and £3.50 for a small Prosecco. Really nice to have. We like a powerful shower and this did not disappoint - the best on our trip so far. There is no lift but only two sets of stairs to get to the room which is very easy. Breakfast is served in a little bar about a 2 minute walk from the B&B and was very pleasant with freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee and a croissant or pastry of your choice. Chez Moi is approximately a 10 minute walk from Piazza Maggiore which is the main square. I would highly recommend and would definately return.

I’ve never been to a hotel quite like it; you would know where it was along the street as it’s on the first floor of an old street and you have to press a buzzer to enter. However, the quirkiness of it is plain to see with the ‘mad hatters tea party’ theme and a huge teddy bear watching tv. The hotel is small and on one floor but it’s decorated very nicely and the rooms are nice; a nice firm bed and a modern bathroom. Could have done with some English speaking tv channels though. The staff are very friendly; when you’re greeted on checkin you are asked to fill in a check in form then the manager makes you a cup of (Ily coffee) and runs through places of interest in the local area. Nice idea. Breakfast is plentiful, continental; yogurt, muesli, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, toast, cakes and pastries. One downside is that the rooms are on the roadside and it’s noisy at the weekend with locals talking and shouting until we’ll after midnight and in the morning lorries and buses. Best not open the window.

This is an excellent B&B in a great location, just steps from the famous leaning towers and a 5-10 minute walk to Piazza Maggiore and the San Petronio Basilica. And, it's just down the block from Gelateria Gianni, one of the best gelato places in Bologna. We had the Tiffany room, plenty large for the two of us, with mirrored armoire, chest of drawers, and separate sitting area. The thing that made it feel really big though, almost like a suite, was the 15-20 foot hallway leading to the bathroom! Only drawback--the brown wall color was a bit gloomy. This is a B&B, although an elegant one, so staff is only present onsite from early in the morning through the evening. That said, Salvatore, who was on in the morning and early afternoon, and Baddy, in the late afternoon and evening, were both extremely helpful and pleasant. Both made excellent dinner recommendations and helped us make arrangements for leaving Bologna, Baddy printing out boarding passes and Salvatore calling a taxi to take us to the airport. A particular tip of the hat to Baddy, whose warm smile, enthusiasm, and excellent English made us feel right at home. The breakfast was fine, particularly the luscious array of tarts and cakes. (Oh, and yes, there was fruit too.) A word of caution. There's no awning or sign on the street to tell you you're at the right location. 051 is one of the tenants in a building with a number of them. There are buzzers next to the door, each with an identifying label, one of which is for 051, but since there's no sign for the B&B, you need to know the building number, which is 4. All in all, a great place to stay, and we will definitely go there again the next time we're in Bologna.

We had a wonderful stay at the Residency Casa Isolani on Piazza Maggiore (Via D'Azeglio)! For our first stay in Bologna it was the perfect choice - directly on Piazza Maggiore!! The Casa Isolani is a mixture between hotel/apartment. There’s no reception and we received the key our two rooms upon appointment. For every question we could contact the Residency by WhatsApp and received immediately an reply. For the breakfast, we received voucher for an typical Italian breakfast (cappuccino and croissant) in the most typical and nice café just around the corner. On of the rooms (called “Piazza Maggiore”) has a balcony overlooking the Piazza and we could have stayed hours there watching the crowd on of the most beautiful squares of Italy. We were also lucky to be in Bologna for the St.Antoninio Festival, with music on the square and a huge firework, directly in front of the window! If you want silence, it’s enough to close the hermetic windows. The hotel situation in Bologna is difficult (few and very old hotels) and the Casa Isolani is an excellent alternative, if you don’t mind not having a reception service or a breakfast room. And instead you get the most incredible feeling of living in the middle of Bologna, a city I fell in love with! We will definitely come back!

A friend and I booked to stay here for 3 nights whilst staying in Bologna. It’s tucked away in a quiet area. We were met by a steep set of stairs however this was pointed out on booking.com. The place itself has only 3 rooms, one to the front and two to the back. We stayed in room 3 - it was very modern and bright and smelt lovely every time we entered! The beds were comfy, there’s nothing at all I can fault. Whilst there we had two lovely ladies who prepared our breakfast between 8:30-9-30. What a feast! Yoghurts, granola, nuts, cheeses, selection of hams and breads, coffee tea & fruit juices. Would definitely stay here again. Central to everything so well positioned.

We visited Bologna for the first time, and spent seven nights in Hotel Accademia and had a very pleasant stay. The room was clean, and overlooked the courtyard so it was quiet. I enjoyed the location of the hotel, in the center and close to the university. The area had a great vibe and lots of energy, but I did not feel as though it was too busy or too loud at night. It was an easy walk to the center and lots of shopping, sites to visit, bars and restaurants. The staff was very friendly throughout the stay, helpful, and took great care of us at breakfast time. I love the typical Italian breakfast, and the options and coffees were perfect! A very pleasant stay indeed.

I'm very impressed with this facility as I stayed here for work the week of Jan 20-25 for work. The facility was clean & modern, the rooms were also clean & modern, and the restaurant had EXCELLENT Bolognese! (God do I love Bolognese! It's made no where better in the world then Bologna.) The best part for me is that most hotels in Bologna do not offer air conditioning and the rooms are always extremely hot forcing you to open the windows & then it gets too cold. Each room at the Best Western has an automatic thermostat that sets the room temperature with heat & AIR CONDITIONING! Whenever I need to travel to Bologna for work or for our kickoff sales meeting, I'm going to request staying at this facility again!

We stayed here for 3 nights. The housekeeping was amaing! Room was cleaned perfectly every time. Here is why we will never book this place again: - it’s extremely far from everything. Basically, in the middle of nowhere. 3 miles feel like more like 20 when you travel by bus to the center. - the A/C in the room didn’t work, so we had to go downstairs and work on that issue with management. - WiFi on the 3rd floor doesn’t work at all! You have 0 connection in the dining area as well. It barely works in the lobby. And the management is aware of that. - somebody mentioned that you could buy bus tickets in the lobby of the hotel. Well, not really. You will be sent to get them on the bus. COINS ONLY. The manager in the hotel said that we could pay with bills. We got fined 2 minutes later (€200) because we only had bills and we were asking people if they could help us out with that. While we were trying to split the bill, the ATAF approached us and made us pay the fines even though he saw that a man was helping us out with coins. - the people that work there are very rude and careless. They don’t care about your experience or the issues you may have with the room. - the room had a fridge that didn’t work. - breakfast is below average and there is no other option available unless you take a bus and ride to the center. You waste a lot of time on your trip waiting for the bus to arrive as well as getting from the hotel to the center and then back. It’s not worth it, especially if you come all the way from the USA. It’s better to find a better hotel and pay a higher price to enjoy more of Bologna and not to have to deal with the management every time the A/C stops working.

I have stayed at the hotel with the largest room size of the same price, even larger than domestic hotels. The bathroom is large, the bed is large, and everything is comfortable. The child likes it very much. Luggage self storage. Breakfast is 12 euros per child, free for children 11 years old. The hotel location is just opposite the train station. There is a Chinese restaurant about 20 meters to the left of the hotel. The dining is convenient, and the female boss is also good.

In my opinion this hotel deserves a better grade. We stayed 4 nights here and we were really pleased with our choice. We were greeted by a friendly receptionist, checked in with professionalism. Then our room, large clean room, with a separate dressing closet super extra convenient and with lots of space for your luggage.Large comfortable bed, large clean bathroom with all the amenities. Only thing missing was sleepers and bathrobes but we got them after asking the reception. The breakfast is served in a very large space and his very satisfying. There really is a great choice of food enough to please everyone, from fruits to salad, to pastries etc etc.The staff is very prompt to serve your coffee or help you in anyway. We also ate two times at the restaurant that is very warm and cosy space with a great atmosphere. We had complimentary prosecco on the 1rst of January and again the staff is very kind and the food is not bad at all which is not always the case in hotel restaurants. First of january being my birthday, they had a small presnt delivered to my room with a kind note, which i found very nice and touching. The situation of the hotel is simply fantastic. One step from the train station which means convenient if you want to go to Pisa or Florence. One step from the shuttles that go to the airport. One step from the bus that goes to Fico Italy, and super close to the city center. For us Star Hotel Excelsior was a perfect choice and we would stay there again with no hesitation.

Hotel location is very good: close to the central railway station (just 7-8 min walk) in the quiet street. The (double) room is quite big and the bathroom is amazing. The room have nice furniture and all you need (mini bar, TV, good WiFi...) Hotel interior is fantastic, from wall paintings to the breakfast restaurant, all that gives very pleasant ambient. Breakfast was fantastic with very various food, espresso, cappuccino, tea, various juices... At the end, most important: staff was very very nice and very helpful. All credits to them! Now I know in what hotel I will stay for next Bologna visit.

This hotel is out of the city of Bologna and not very well connected if you aren’t fit enough for some walking, but please read on. We got a great deal through BA, £171 each for three nights, including breakfast and flights for two people from LHR! Very good. You’ll need to get a taxi (25€ each way) or the bus which is a 15 minute walk and 2€ each way if you wish to be in Bologna city. The bus stop is in Via Golinelli, opposite the cafe on the corner of the street. Bus number 89. You pay using coins only on a machine in the bus. For the city, get off at Piazza Magpighi and walk from there. Step off bus, turn to your right, cross the road at the crossing, under the arch and follow into the centre of the city, maybe 10-15 minutes walk. It is easy but allow an hour between leaving the hotel and arriving at Piazza Maggiore. Bus 89 is every 30 mins, hotel have timetables, but roughly 15 and 45 past the hour. The hotel serves a great breakfast, lots of choice. The pool is indoor and small in size but perfect for a cool down. There are a few fitness machines by the poolside and towels for swimming, as well as a few wooden relaxing chairs. The bedrooms are good, a decent size, beds comfortable and all you need. There is a hairdryer, shower gel and shampoo are replaced daily. There is a mini fridge in the room. No hot drinks facilities in the room so I’d suggest taking coffee sachets or teabags as you can help yourself to hot water in reception. The room key provides electricity so you can’t charge your phone while you’re at breakfast, try to remember to do it overnight. It was 32 degrees here and the room’s air con was excellent, we slept in complete comfort. On our first day, we walked around to ExtraCoop supermarket, (look for Q8 fuel station and find entrance to mall opposite) and stocked up on water and snacks for the room. We had dinner at 480GRADI next to Burger King which was very good. We also enjoyed 2 evening meals at Gustavo in the shopping mall. The huge bowls of pick-and-mix salads for 6.10E are so, so delicious and the ‘bowl’ is a massive tortilla, which my child thought was brilliant! We then popped into ExtraCoop to find a cheeky pudding, ice cream or a cream bun, some chocolate... Back to Bologna again, it’s worth knowing that there is a drinking water fountain and bottle refill next to the Neptune Fountain in Piazza Maggiore so you needn’t keep buying water in the city, just refill your bottles there. Another note on transport. The Aerobus between the airport and city is of little use to you if you are staying at this hotel. The walk from the closest city stop that the Aerobus makes to the centre of Bologna is a hot and heavy 20 mins plus with suitcases! I had the brainwave to get the Aerobus to the city then taxi to the hotel but this cost me a lot more than a taxi from the airport straight to the hotel would have done. Look on a map and you’ll see why I thought this might be a good option. The Aerobus is 6€ one way person so cost
