This is a very old hotel, the stairwell can see the old-fashioned clock. Although the style is like a guest house, it is already much better than the ordinary guest house in terms of price and facilities.
Location is the biggest advantage here (very close to the ancient city, convenient to the Hao terminal 2 bus stop and Hao railway station). The room is being renovated, the one I live in is obviously bright and tidy, and the showers are new. The bed is particularly soft (people who like hard beds may not adapt to the degree), personally feel very comfortable. In addition, I don't need air conditioning (the air conditioner in Thailand is too cold), so I am very happy to have a fan room, a large ceiling fan, open a 3-stall can blow people to tighten the quilt, and screens to ventilate insects.
The only downside was from the bar diagonally opposite, which was hi until 12 o'clock every night. Fortunately, the travel was tired and the noise was no longer affecting me.

|0.87km from city centerOn this trip, I decided to explore Thailand more and travelled inland to Korat (aka Nakhon Ratchasima) in the north-east Isan region (about a four-hour, 209 baht bus ride from Bangkok) for a week. Because it is a long way from the sea and a lot hotter (41 degrees), I was looking for a hotel with a pool. The Romyen is very conveniently located, about 10 minutes walk from the centre, but off the main street so it proves an oasis of calm. The pool, surrounded by trees, has lovely warm water and towels are provided. The hotel cost more than my usual budget but it was worth it for all the quality. The large rooms were very impressive with crisp modern lines and an uncluttered Japanese/Zen-like simplicity (there seemed to be a lot of Japanese influence in Korat, with cafes, restaurants, karaoke and a GINZA area). A quiet efficient air conditioner, a big fridge, free water, a kettle with tbags and coffee sachets, a flat tv with many channels and a balcony all added to the comfort. As the food in two of the three Isan restaurants we tried had disappointed, we ate mainly in food courts (The Mall, with its spectacular waterfall and beautiful fish ponds, and Terminal 21 both offer excellent cheap local food -- this is the same Terminal 21 where there was the recent terrible massacre) and the hotel restaurant which was consistently excellent and reasonably priced. We enjoyed their gyoza dumplings, their wontons stuffed with prawns, their spicy pork and chicken dishes. My only suggestions would be safes in all rooms and a bookcase so that travellers can swap books. All in all, highly recommended.

|0.46km from city centerThis is an interesting property as it is obviously quite old and typical of budget hotels found in city centers. Don't let the facade and funky reception area put you off as it is really a perfectly good budget hotel and perfectly fine for a night's stay. Its also conveniently located in the city center not too far from the bus station. If self-driving, there is ample parking in the rear of the building, although this is not obvious looking at the narrow entranceway. Although my room was small and dated it was actually very clean and comfortable. The hot water, air-conditioning, and refrigerator worked perfectly. The bedding, linen, and towels were good enough. Oddly enough, I found the room to be very cozy, a term I rarely use, and felt very comfortable. I suppose you could say it has a certain (urban) ”old world charm”. At a walk-in rate of 500 THB, I am tempted to give it four out of five on the TripAdvisor scale, but that might be a bit of a stretch. I would stay here again for sure.

The hotel is connected to Central Plaza, a large shopping mall with many shops and restaurants. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with a modern design and a beautiful view of the city. The staff were very friendly and helpful, always ready to assist me with anything I needed. The breakfast was amazing, with a wide selection of dishes, including local specialties and international cuisines. The rooftop pool was stunning, with a panoramic view. I tried The Peak, a rooftop restaurant with a romantic setting and a 180-degree view of Nakhon Ratchasima. The food were delicious and the service was impeccable. Centara Korat is a perfect place to enjoy the charm and culture of Nakhon Ratchasima. I would definitely come back again.
