It was very old. The bed sheets had blood stains, but the room was improved and changed a bit, but mosquitoes came in when the window was not air-conditioned, and the mattress was old and nestled. We stayed in a japanese style room in winter 2017 in the non smoking section of the hotel. We found the hotel very comfortable and we managed to muddle through checkin and check out with my very basic Japanese. It was a convenient walk to the JR train station, convenience stores, cafes & restaurants, Yodabashi shopping centre all within a 5-10 minute walk. We also discovered a chemist a very short walk from the hotel which came in so handy as I came down with a super nasty cold which got worse while we were staying there. The breakfast buffet had a great mix of food and provided an opportunity to try a few different foods for breakfast. The hotel seemed geared towards to business people than tourist but regardless it was a great find and I'd be happy to stay here again.FromUS$58.00

I rushed to stay for one night and didn't take a good look at the hotel. It was really a bad stop at the hotel entrance. Come in a hurry and go in a hurry. From the mountain road in Anda Tailiang, the rainy mountain road, dirty shoes, dirty plastic bags, do not know to throw it there, can only be placed in the room, need hotel cleaning staff to clean up, thank you again!FromUS$50.00

We stayed 3 nights at April 2018. This stay was quite short than our stay at last yeat (7 nights at 2017). It doesn't mean something wrong. Just because we need catch the most beautiful time of Cherry Blossom. Get back to Dormy Inn, they actually put effort on maintain the quality of services and experience of guests during their stay. I stayed some Dormy Inn in other cities in Japan. They would make you feel familiar, comfort and feeling safe. Some say, chains of hotel like Dormy Inn made you boring, but when you are visitors in other countries, if you can find a place you familiar, it is a good things. At least for us. We stay at Japanese style room this time. And the space is really large. Although it is located at the corner of the building, the noise from outdoors was not significant. In some ways this is a typical Japanese provincial hotel mainly catering to business guests. However, my wife and I stayed there earlier this year and our experience was made special by the incredibly helpful and kind reception team, in particular Ms Choi Jin. It was obvious to the team that we were visitors in an unfamiliar country and they went beyond what a customer could reasonably expect to help us in many different ways. We stayed at Daiwa Roynet Koriyama during our excursion in Tohoku, mostly to take advantage of its cheaper cost (comparing to similar hotels in Sendai) and proximity to JR station. The room was quite spacious comparing for a business hotel, and the bathroom was gigantic with a separate area for shower and bath. The room comes with plenty of amenities, and being less than 1 year old, everything was brand new and shiny. Wi-Fi speed was great and encrypted. The front desk staff was very friendly (even by Japanese standards) and everyone goes the extra mile to help you out. Some staff speak fluent English. We had no problem communicating some complex luggage logistic stuff with them. The housekeeping was amazing, but that's what we come to expect from most Japanese hotels. The hotel is about 2-minute walk to JR Koriyama station, and we were able to reach the Shikansen platform in under 4 minutes. The only downside is that Koriyama is a smaller station and not every Shinkansen stops there. There are several car rental shops within walking distance. Parking was plenty despite it being in downtown. The JR Station offers quite some dining and shopping options, and there is a Family Mart and a Lawson next to the hotel. We would definitely consider staying at this hotel again for excursions along the Tohoku Shinkansen and nearby area.FromUS$76.00

Visiting our family in Koriyama, this hotel was very close to the station and the town centre, located in a very quiet area (near Usui). I travelled with my teenage sons, so our rooms were separated. The hotel has been recently refurbished, and is very clean and tidy.. We first stayed in 3 single rooms, which had all you need when you stay in a budget hotel, on the second floor. The hostess was more than welcoming and very accommodating: we were able to check-in at 2 pm, and I could even use the big o-furo (and sauna) early afternoon located on the women-only floor. A blessing after a long flight followed by a Shinkansen trip from Tokyo to Koriyama. The O-furo for men is on the basement. There is a Japanese "tatami" room on the ground floor. The staff speaks enough English to help you around. I also stayed one night on the women-only dormitory (the boys were on the men-only floor). There is a secure entry to that women's floor. The "room" leaves enough space for a big suitcase, it has a little safe and a TV with headphones. The bed was very comfortable. There is a "living-room" on that floor with TV, micro-wave, kettle, table and comfy chairs. I could have asked for more. Due to the regulations in Japan, the door to the "rooms" has no lock, but this is Japan, so already very safe + the entry to the level is restricted to those who have a key (so women-guests only + staff). I felt very safe. Some days, the breakfast was Japanese-style, other days, Western-style. Always yummy. The hostel has a restaurant which is very handy when you don't go out. It's offering simple western-style dishes, with Japanese interpretation. For sure delicious, and not too heavy. Being virtually in the centre of the city, you'll find all you need within walking distance. Overall, I was pleasantly impressed.FromUS$20.00
