We absolutely loved our stay at this unique gem. The decor throughout the lobby and bar areas was so unique, fun, and comfortable. The hotel is well located in a lovely neighborhood and breakfast was delicious. That said, the hotel staff were really what made this a 5/5 star stay. Every person we interacted with (the wonderful woman at the front desk, bartender, and other staff members) was absolutely phenomenal. Attentive, upbeat, helpful, and so welcoming. I highly recommend The Yard!

I have issues with this hotel & whoever is hiring the rude staff members (there were 2 staff members who were nice and sweet but other 2 who were not) also keep in mind in the past 5 years I’ve stayed in approximately 28 different hotels in Italy. Every time I’m in Milan I like to explore up to 3 different hotels. 1. My first night I got in late (single female traveler) and I waited for about 2-3 minutes at midnight outside hotel bc lobby was unattended (bunch of seedy types out in the square near McDonalds) and after ringing a few times finally came down with a phone in his ear and let’s me in. He’s chatting with a friend and gossiping and said “I have to call you back”... he then checked me in and then went back to calling his friend back. Meanwhile there is 4 steps to the elevator and I have 2 heavy-*ss suitcases as I was traveling in Europe for a month for work and the guy ignores me as I try to Carry it to the elevator. 2. Room is spacious and has a great amenity kit, but it took forever for my room to cool. 3. I was forced to pay for breakfast along with my hotel but I never woke up in time for breakfast and wish this was a separate option. 4. Not sure if any of their bathrooms have bath tubs so if you want a tub you need to call in advance. 5. The next morning the female front desk worker was nice and lovely and so was the guy working the following night (different from the first guy). 6 HOWEVER... the following morning on second night there was another different front desk guy. And he was very cold and working on his computer. I asked if he could help with my 2 large suitcases. And he says “just a second” and he is sighing really loud so I can hear he is disgruntled and upset I asked for his help. (hello dude. Are you getting paid to be rude to guests?) then finally I go “um I’m sorry but are you not going to help me?” And he yells “just a moment!” And he types furiously on his keyboard hoping I will just take the bags down myself. Finally I said “I will just wait here til you help” and then he got up and he moved one of my suitcases while I moved the other and marched back to his desk. 7. Then I asked if I was checked out and he said yes. And then I go “oh but I should pay the city tax” and he said “oh yes” so I gave him my credit card. He looked at it with anger grabbed a random plaque that said “city taxes need to be paid in cash” (btw that is untrue... this is the 8th hotel in Italy and 4th in Milan I stayed in the past year and every hotel is allowed to accept tax on credit card) anyway he literally flung it to my face and yelled at me “you can’t read?” And I explained to him “yesterday I paid it in credit card and the woman was very to me” and he yelled “I don’t care about any woman and what she did wrong. She was wrong!” And I tried to produce the receipt and he basically told me that he didn’t want to see it and that I need to produce cash or else. I was so scared this man was going to attack me. I quickly hurried out

I stayed here for a few nights on business after my colleague booked it, so I did not see the reviews on this site. You should skim a selection before deciding. There are many pros to this place. The location is fantastic. It is near a subway station, and the canal area two blocks over is a lively nightlife spot - we spent every evening there. It is a straight, easy walk to most of the main sightseeing spots. The nearby Sacred Heart Catholic university is worth checking out on its own. If you want to use the trams, they run right outside. The room is basic, a bit dark, but the shower worked fine. The cons? My colleague complained about the noise of the trams, but I had earplugs so it did not bother me. The rooms are small and need updated, but open the shutters and the gloom disappears. Breakfast is a slightly dark, dismal affair. A very limited selection. The staff don't speak much English, which is fine as not may British hotels have Italian-speaking staff, but it can mean some travellers mistake lack of linguistic proficiency for 'rudeness.' Any request I had I could communicate. I'd go back to the location, but perhaps try another hotel next time.

Second time we stayed at this hotel in the last 4 years. The hotel has been refurbished to a high modern standard. We had a family room which was very spacious with two separate bedrooms; the breakfast was really good offering sweet Italian biscuits and cakes, breads and croissants, cheeses and cold meats, cooked eggs and bacon, juices, fruit, fresh smoothies, yogurts and probably more! In the evening there is an excellent aperitif laid out for the guests and on arrival we were all given a complementary drink to have during happy hour - great touch! There is also a refreshing spa with sauna, steam-room, different types of showers: you can relax having some timeout listening to soothing music sipping herbal teas. The Navigli area is excellent for restaurants, bars and night life all done very stylishly, beautiful to stroll along the Canal. Good connection of public transport too to other areas of Milan being near a Metro stop (Porta Genova M2), trams and also train station. I would recommend it.

Milan Stazione Centrale
Excellent location as hotel is opposite the train station. Downside is the room was very dark. The pantry is poorly located in the room with no lights at all. There’s also a lack of sockets like USB plugs or multi adaptor sockets for international travellers. Room was also a bit dusty and certain areas not cleaned well. Breakfast spread was good.

Location is very remote with no shopping and limited restaurant and fast food. Even though there is a subway station nearby but you might have to prepare spending hefty taxi charges if you intend to go around town without getting tired. It's a very simple hotel with basic service and food and I don't complaint much for the price.

Porta Venzia
The hotel creates a good impression when you arrive, bright and elegant. It is right by Lima station with a variety of shops around and a short walk from Central Station so very convenient. The staff are extremely welcoming and helpful and the bedroom well appointed with very good sound proofing so you have the advantage of a busy area without the noise! The Spa suite is very well set out. I just wished the swimming pool was not so warm....but the jets are refreshing. Excellent breakfast which includes hot savoury dishes. The only draw back was the cord for the net curtains being hidden within the curtains, from the snagging at the top I was not the first person to not be able to find it at first and open the curtains to fully to get onto the pleasant little balcony. The calm hotel was especially appreciated at the virus was causing a lot of panic and unfortunately I had to cut short my stay.

Surprisingly good! Very close to the Central Railway Station, across the square, and walk about 100 meters ahead on the right street. The rooms are large and the front desk is friendly. We went to the Notre Dame early in the morning and came back at 10 o'clock to return to the hotel for breakfast. Breakfast was good. Children will be charged € 50 for extra beds and € 20 for shared beds.

Suite space is huge! The balcony is also large, the breakfast is good, and I feel tired after staying for 4 days. It is about ten minutes walk from the subway station, and it is relatively quiet nearby. The hotel can provide a taxi service. Do not use Uber or the hotel shuttle bus to the airport. It's expensive, just ask the front desk to call you a car. The cars you call are all regular operations. They are very enthusiastic. It costs 20 euros to Linate Airport and 35 euros to Uber.

My family enjoy the stay in this hotel because of the clean and comfortable room and bed. The location is not very near to city centre however no issue with transport to go to the city centre. The hotel breakfast was specially arranged for our group because we have to leave at 6am to go to the airport.
