We started traveling to Mayo Clinic in Rochester in April 2018. We first stayed at Guesthouse Inn for 1 week. We had no complaints. Manager Tim was the best and all other employees, the rooms, the breakfast, everything..near perfect! We were given the hotel Mayo discount on that stay. Since that time, we have had to be at Mayo for 4 more sessions of treatments, each requiring a 2 week hotel stay. We knew our stay at Guesthouse was so accommodating, we looked no where else for lodging. We were given the Mayo discount and an additional extended stay discount. When we came for our 4th round of treatment in February, we again planned our stay for Guesthouse for 2 weeks. We called in early January and yes they had rooms available (we had had same room for 4 previous stays). This time Guesthouse was not accommodating!! They refused to honor the same rate that we had been given for the previous 3 extended 2 week stays. I spoke with Linda and also the manager on separate calls. Nope!! Wouldn't happen again. I had my previous receipts right in front of me to give them dates and prices we were given before. They would not budge!! I realize $5 is not a lot for some, but when you figure that amount times 12 or 13 nights for a stay, it adds up quickly and in this case amounted to equivalent of 1 night. Being at Mayo, staying in a hotel, transportation to Rochester, food/meals, etc adds up quickly. The failure to work with return patrons was aggravating and disappointing! So when we found out it would cost us more anyway, we priced a pet friendly room to bring 1 comfort of home with us for the 2 weeks. I believe we were quoted $15 PER NIGHT for a pet. We could not do that either. Needless to say, our whole experience in dealing with Guesthouse this time around was worthless. We did find another hotel with all the amenities offered by Guesthouse for the same price we originally paid at Guesthouse as well as a $25 pet fee, a 1 time fee for entire stay! Guesthouse needs to get a manager and workers in there who show they care about their guests like they did in the past!!

Horrible!. Not advised of no breakfast or housekeeping/amenity replacement at check-in. Room was on construction and garbage pickup side which occurred at 6:20a on Day 1. Housekeeping showed up at 8:45a on Day 2 "you check-a out; you check-a out." NO! Forgot laptop charge cord, checked out at noon and was in Rochester another 7 hrs after check-out. In that amount of time they CERTAINLY could have contacted me about the cord. Claimed they were SO busy. However, there were very few bookings. So I had to drive back to Rochester the next day to pick up the cord. The front desk gal was very rude when I brought all these discrepancies to her. What an attitude I received!! There is absolutely no where to put your personal belongings. Yes there were a few hangers, but no drawers, no place to put toiletries etc. With 3 people in the room it was quite a mess as a result, with clothing everywhere. The work out room is no bigger than a closet and has very little in the way of equipment. There Corner Market had very little variety and even less quantity of the items they did carry. Keep on going..., find yourself another hotel.

Aspen Select (review is NOT for Aspen Suites) - hotel is directly across from St. Mary’s hospital. Rooms have been recently renovated and very nice – clean, quiet (no adjacent room noise) and comfortable; mini fridge, microwave, single coffee maker, desk. Rooms are cleaned by request only or if staying more than 7 days (non-issue since I personally don’t require housekeeping, I can make my own bed & give these hard-working people a break). Parking is in back – if you’re in a large vehicle (van, truck, XL SUV), you can access via the back way (take the side street behind the hotel) and ample parking. Breakfast is on the lighter side: waffle maker, 4 kinds of cold cereal, oatmeal packets, yogurt, fresh fruit, orange & apple juice, coffee, bread & English muffins, and sweet rolls. Staff very friendly & accommodating! I only heard a little outside traffic during the week, especially buses – on the weekends the traffic is much lighter and few buses -- it shouldn’t be bothersome unless your room is closer to the street – our room was in the middle of the 3rd floor and barely heard any street noise. The Canadian Honker restaurant is just steps away offering breakfast, lunch & supper and small bar menu – reasonably priced and highly recommend Bunnie’s Coconut Cake! Since we were in Rochester for 4 days, we drove to Hy-Vee and picked up deli items for lunch & supper (much cheaper!). We did not eat at the other cafe's in the immediate vicinity so can’t comment; there’s also a Caibou farther down the street and a small market (over-priced but if you’re in dire need of something, it’s convenient). I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again!

I'm not a complainer - I travel all the time so I'm pretty easygoing. We're in Rochester frequently and always stay at another hotel a little further from the Mayo, but thought it would be nice to just walk over, so we chose the Brentwood. Here are my observations: the queen room looked nothing like the photo. It was so small you barely move around. The "flat screen tv" is the size of my desktop computer monitor at home, and perpendicular to the bed, so you can't sit in bed and watch it. The sheets were cheap, scratchy muslin (I'm not a linen snob) and the bedspread was worn, pilled, incredibly cheap. No closet - I'm serious - just a rack hung from the wall. The dropped ceiling extended to above the shower, so naturally it was discolored and bowed. The room had no thermostat. There was no night table on my side of the bed, so I had to just put my things (like my c-pap machine) on the floor. The refrigerator wasn't turned on, so we had to wait a couple of hours until it was cold enough to put medications in. Finally, there are a couple of "roadside memorials" out front - the crosses and flowers put there in honor of someone who died at that spot. I'm sure these are very meaningful to someone, which I respect, but at a hotel where nearly all of the customers are people seeking medical treatment, I'm not sure that sends the right message. Any one or two of these things wouldn't have been enough to write a review, but this was really over the line. For a few dollars more, I could have stayed at any one of several hotels in an equally convenient location, and I certainly would next time.

The hotel appears to be new. In great condition, nicely decorated and furnished and in good repair. Large lobby area including breakfast area. One weird thing was that the barbecue meat smell from a neighboring restaurant was very strong in the lobby and hallways when we checked in. It was unpleasant. Fortunately, it did not smell in our guest room. The beds are high. They offer a step feature to be brought to your room if you have trouble getting into the bed. The rooms are kind of small. The arm chair is literally jammed between the wall and bed. Kind of awkward to sit in. Guest rooms in a couple of other chains that we stayed in have been much larger. Fridge and microwave in the room. That is a nice amenity. One incident that we had was arranging for a late check out. Appreciated that 1 pm was available with no additional charge. Asked for it at check in. Double checked in the morning and late check out did not appear on our account. Front desk said she would add it. Left our teenage son in bed with do not disturb sign in key entry as it was designed to be. Our son said that housekeeping keyed into the room and woke him up when they started moving things around in the room. The late check out and the do not disturb sign were ignored by housekeeping. This was disconcerting to me. I did like the convenient location of this property.

While the rooms are smaller and maybe older than the North location, this one has everything the Hampton-North does not. Great staff and they care about their guests. Every night I have stayed they have something called Soup Therapy. After spending all day at the hospital on tests it was so nice to have a warm bowl of soup to come back too. It is such a small gesture but leave a great impact. The staff were great, letting me know there was a special rate for patients the first time we stayed. The rooms have recliners with a side table that are so nice to use. They have smaller rooms but they maximize their space well. I highly recommend this specific hotel. They truly make you feel cared for.

The hotel was clean and had a nice outdoor seating area with a fireplace. The shuttle drivers to/from the Mayo Clinic were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast consisted of a to-go box (bagel, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt), some cereal options, milk, juice, water, packaged sandwiches and oatmeal you could warm in the room. The hotel has an indoor pool and is located right on a nice walking/bike path. The room was nice and clean. The only negative was that the bed and couch areas are separated by a curtain and not a door like a separate room would have.

If I could give less than a one dot rating I would. We found this property on the Best Western website and reserved a room for the night of Saturday, August 1, 2020. In the reservation section entitled “Special Requests,” we stated, “We will be bringing one small dog.” Upon our arrival, the front desk clerk asked for my driver’s license and credit card. What was unusual about that is she wanted me to hand both items over for her to physically examine. In the age of the COVID-19 virus, no other hotelier on my trip asked, nor wanted, to touch my ID cards. The clerk wasn’t wearing protective gloves and I don’t recall there being any disinfection products nearby for her, or me, to use. I found the situation to be dangerous. But my main concern is what happened after she checked me in. While my family was bringing our luggage to the room, I went outside the hotel to join one of my daughters who was walking our dog. As I did so, I noticed that the employee had left her post and was following us, skulking inside the hallways and stalking us at every entrance to the building. Before I re-entered the hotel, I encountered my family returning to our vehicle and reloading our belongings. My wife said she was approached by the clerk and told we would be charged $250 if we brought our dog inside the hotel room. My wife explained to her that we had notified the hotel in advance that we’d be bringing a pet, but the clerk responded by saying the hotel hasn’t allowed animals for two years. So we left. In reviewing our experience, Best Western needs to do the following: -Update its web site. On August 1, 2020 its pet policy said it allowed animals. Also, the address listed is wrong. It reads 1517 16th Avenue SW but should be 1517 16th Street SW. When you use the avenue address in a GPS device, you’re routed to a residential neighborhood. -To minimize the potential spread of COVID-19, employees need to be trained not to touch a customer’s personal effects such as ID cards. -The female employee who worked the evening shift that night needs to be fired. She stalked me, frightened my daughter, and was rude to my wife. I counted only five or six other vehicles in the hotel parking lot that night. At a time when it can’t afford to have such a low occupancy rate, this employee failed to put the “Best” in Best Western.

I made a reservation for my son because the heat went out in his home and the inside temp was 47 degrees when he woke up. I live in Washington State! So many other hotels give such grief when someone else is making the reservation and paying the bill, but not actually staying on site. Adam Lopprow was amazing! He made a stressful situation into a pleasant experience! All I wanted was a room for my son so he wouldn't freeze to death and Adam really helped. His knowledge of the 3rd party authorization process was very much appreciated. So thankful for Adam! The room was immaculate and the breakfast was delicious -- says my son!

Actually I was referred to this hotel by another that was fully occupied on the date I needed a room. That was not a bad thing. This hotel is not elegant but certainly adequate and it turned out to be a great value with clean rooms, (suites, actually), an adequate breakfast, ample parking, and convenient shuttles to the Mayo Clinic. I'll stay here again. TIP: If you are going to be seen at the Mayo Clinic, book this hotel directly, not through an on-line booking service. Ask for the Mayo discount. This can save you about $30. The number is 507-282-8091.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights with my wife and 2 kids for my wife's appointment at Mayo clinic. I was little bit skeptical as I saw couple of bad reviews but I was extremely surprised with the 5 start service, breakfast, cleanliness and front desk support we got. I learned that the hotel had a change of ownership in recent months and the new ownership is determine to provide best service to their guests. So I guest that made the difference. I also noticed the rooms are bigger than other same value hotels, they also have a HUGE indoor pool, kids just loved it. I would definitely stay in this hotel again. Best value for the price I paid.

I was looking for an affordable hotel that was pet friendly for a trip to Mayo Clinic, and I was extremely pleased with Cornerstone! I called to check their policy and rates and the gal on the phone was super helpful and informative and quickly got me booked for my stay. When I checked in, the front desk gal was incredibly friendly and cheerful! She showed me which room we were in on a diagram, gave us a menu for the restaurant, and I was quickly on my way to my room. As for the room, I was expecting a normal hotel room... Nope. We got an apartment basically. And for the price? Holy cats. It was incredible. I've paid more at a Holiday for less amenities! I will 10/10 stay here again. I'll be back next year for my next follow up!

Hotel and rooms were nice, and affordable. We were with a group and they put so much chlorine in the pool, peoples eyes were burning and kids were getting chlorine rashes. The staff made rude comments to each other about other guests. They tried to make people go to their rooms, earlier than the signs posted. Made guests vacuum the room they used with a vacuum that was shorting out and would not pass inspection. The hotel was nice, but was NOT impressed with the staff at all. We paid for a group of rooms, gave them the information the night before to pay in the morning, asked for it to be ready so check out was easy, they had nothing ready and couldn't figure it out in the morning. It was so disorganized! They knew large groups were coming, they could have handled things a lot better.

My dad had a procedure at St. Mary's so we were supposed to stay here one night. Unfortunately, we had historic low temperatures, and we had to stay another night. This is a 1960s era hotel which probably shows its age sometimes, but sometimes people are more important. I was so impressed with the kindness and helpfulness of the two ladies that worked the front desk - when we really needed it. They were so kind helping us with our car. The rooms are reasonable, clean, and they helped make us comfortable in an uncomfortable situation. They do have a shuttle to the Clinic and St. Mary's which we used one day because our car was out of commission. There is a basic continental breakfast and if so inclined there is a Starbucks located right next door. We were in need of some kindness and compassion, and we were fortunate to find it here.

This review saddens me . Apparently I am not alone. While standing in lobby ( because there are no comfortable seats) another guest told me she stayed downstairs because of the horrible renovation. You can can stay at Marriott concierge floor for half the price. Kahler Towers has made our comfy cozy lounge into a glorified McDonalds! Complete with the modern furniture! All wood and covered with modern fabric. No feather couch or chairs to be found . NO FLOWERS , even removed the serving you with all our hearts sign from the rooms. We were there for a week! My special needs child will usually sit in lounge and look out the windows. Not this trip! Only left to grab a coke . The good part is they kept the comfy bed and beautiful dresser. BAD thing you cannot regulate temp in your room!!!! Woke up freezing and temp was 64 degrees and that was with a space heater going on high all night. You need to call mainstream to change the temp!!!!! When we arrived temp kept climbing, at 76 degrees I was about to melt, you cannot open a window and you cannot sit in the lounge unless sitting on bricks does not bother you! The price of rooms have gone up and the Quality IS MISSING . Look at these pics! yes they left our fire place BUT how are we to enjoy it? the carpet in lounge will make you nervous or sick with a migraine. That was my experience in what use to be a recovery room for healing ! it is now a room of cold steel tables and brick seats. NOT A COMFY seat anywhere INCLUDING my executive king suite! Yep, stripped of historic comfy furniture, beautiful writing desks , flowers , replaced with MODERN BRICK FURNITURE. The towers had something no one else had . A floor with a COMFORTABLE LOUNGE , beautiful fireplace , flowers , dedicated concierge serving you with all their heart. THANK GOD they still have a dedicated concierge! I was ready to leave and go to Marriott when after 6 hours of complaining I was freezing, Crystal brought us a space heater! Her act of kindness made me stay. I can’t say folks I would spend that kind of money again for NO PLACE TO SIT except the BED, the beautiful lounge is horrendous! Fast food place now. Ugly ridiculous, Sesame Street could film here singing “some of these things are not like the other!!!” A three year old could tell the carpet and modern brick furniture do not belong in an historic healing hotel. BE WARNED the owners did not take our cry’s for “leave the towers alone seriously!”

I am a diamond member with over a million Hilton honor points. Upon checking into this hotel John was at the front desk. We were checking in for a 10 days and using points for our stay. John did not thank us for being a diamond member but instead embarrassed us by saying “you don’t get upgraded when you stay for free”. He was busy watching a basketball game. And kept looking over his left shoulder to see the TV that was on in the lobby. My wife was having surgery and had called the hotel ahead of our arrival to ask if there was an option for a recliner to be moved to our room. Over the phone she was told that would not be a problem just to ask at the front desk. When she asked John he said “ I don’t know who the character was that told you that but that is an upgrade and like I said that don’t do that when you are staying for free”. I told John that we were not staying for free but we were using points. He said “well, your not paying for your stay.” I think they fact that to have diamond status you have to stay at least 60 nights a year is hardly “staying for free”. We would have left then if it wasn’t for the fact that we needed to be close to the clinic and we had been on the road for over 12 hours. On our way to our room we asked a bellman for a cart to get our luggage we were told “I can’t let you take it because they get stolen.” Full disclosure, after we had made two trips to our car to get our luggage and started to unpack we received a call from a supervisor saying that we could be upgraded the next day. We declined. At this point we were exhausted and embarrassed. We had been treated like we were trying to get something we didn’t deserve and that because we were using points we should not expect to be treated like a “paying” customer. During our stay our sheets were not changed the first four nights. I requested the sheets be changed on the fifth day because my wife was having surgery. They were not. After we got home and had some time to process our stay I felt like I should respond to the survey I received regarding out stay. I sent a detailed response to the survey. I at least expected a response that indicated someone would look into my issues. Instead within 30 minutes of hitting send I received a “form” response. Stating “we are sorry and have generously given you 50000 points”. I do not want points. I wanted a person to reach out to me, say thank you for being a loyal customer for over 15 years and we assure you that this is not how our loyal customers should be treated. The level of service I receive should be based on whether I am paying cash or using points.

We stayed Nov. 25 & 26, 2019 Our room was a King with Kitchenette, very nice sized room. It was clean and well appointed, all I had to do was call the front desk and request the type of kitchen supplies that I wanted, they were brought to our room within 1 hour. Then WiFi was easy to hookup to and worked well. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the property and how an Extended Stay facility worked. A Big Shout Out to Kim, our front desk person ! Kim was extremely helpful and we would stay again because of her. Thank you Kim 🙂

Treatment at Mayo Clinic, at hotel for 2 weeks. Room was spacious in a king accessible tub 1 bedroom. Sofa bed was worst I have ever slept on, barely tolerable when adding foam pad. One of the remotes was broken upon entering room, told staff, they promised to fix but never did. The room smelled like a dog had stayed previous to me, I had to purchase Lysol and spray daily Note: recommend the hotel keep specific rooms for dog owners only. The Good: as I said earlier room was spacious, could easily navigate around with walker or wheelchair. Everything else about the room was in good condition. Very convenient to cook daily meals. Loved using the basement garage, quick to get in/out for my appointments. Needed to use computer/scanner was easy to use and staff very helpful & friendly. Short drive to Mayo maybe 5 minutes. The room still had the new hotel look. I would definitely stay here again but would ask for room with no previous pet stay, and would sleep on the bed (which I heard was comfortable), not the pullout sofa.

For business and pleasure, I have been literally all over the world, but this was my first "medically necessitated" travel. Therefore, I just chose one of the IHG group. What a pleasant surprise: it was every thing I could have wanted. The King room was very clean, amazingly quiet, and the staff was beyond belief in their help and cooperation during abrupt changes that were required at the last minute. I can't say enough about the excellent staff!

The hotel inside is very nice, the trick is being able to find your way in as there is ongoing construction (something that the hotel failed to mention, even after I called a few hours beforehand to confirm my reservation). After driving around the hotel several times, I finally gave up and just parked and wandered around until I found the front desk. The doors I walked through to get in the shared building only had a sign for an attorneys office. My only reason for walking in through the doors anyway was because the address provided on their website was the same one so I figured I would take my chances. Once I finally found the place, there were several other people in line that were also very upset about not being able to find the hotel entrance. The person behind the desk rudely responded saying there was a sign telling people where to go. After some quick discussion with others in line, nobody else saw this claimed sign either. After the rude desk person telling me I should have seen the sign and listing off all the things they would potentially charge me for (btw, no apology was ever provided), I finally made it to the room. It was very nice but when I opened the fridge there were 5 items left in side from a previous guest. Now I was wondering how well the room was cleaned and if they bother to change the sheets. Last but not least, I called the front desk to ask for the wifi password so I could verify my mayo clinic information for the next day to which they replied I had to be a rewards member to get the wifi (unbelievable considering you can get free wifi even at McDonalds these days!!). All and all, I will never stay here again and recommend others to stay away. My wife and I have stayed at the HIlton Garden Inn across the street multiple times and it is much better. We just thought we would try something different this time and boy were we sorry!

I have no complaints at all about my room. It was clean, comfortable, and provided me with a good night's sleep. This hotel is located just south of Rochester, and it is a quick drive to just about everything one would want to visit in the city. There are two reasons I couldn't give this hotel a better rating. The front desk personnel, both checking in and checking out were poor for a hospitality business. The morning guy was intently interested in something on his cell phone and was rude to me and at least two other guests when we took him away from it for requests. The other reason is this hotel stores bed pieces (mattresses and boxsprings) in their stairwells. They are stored in such a fashion that they could topple and block the door to the stairwell. This is inexcusable and I am sure not compliant with local fire regulations.

It is suitable for bringing children. It is very convenient to travel around and the environment is particularly good. We booked a twin room. Foreign hotel rooms do not provide toothbrushes, toothpaste and slippers. We are also used to it, haha

We had a week at Mayo. The location is great for the Gonda and Mayo buildings. Around the corner, the mayo subway level is available ate the Rodeway hotel door. This may have been a dorm in the past but is very dated. It was acceptable cleaning wise but I was Leary. No coffee maker in room. The room was very dark. No cups provided in room. There is a coffee machine as well as juice and some minimal breakfast item in a large lobby. They are slowly doing some updating in rooms but our window looked out onto a dumpster with toilets etc in it. The staff was friendly. The owner was not so much. They had cookies out in the afternoon. The rate w/o tax etc was $84 so it was a good price but you get what you pay for. Free parking. I didn’t have maid service all week as I didn’t want anyone in our room. Pics below may help. We will only spend more on future trips.

Let's just say this...this is not a "hotel" as you would think. It is more of an extended stay apartment complex, and does not have many of the hotel amenities that you would have downtown, and that you would pay a lot more money to obtain. This is more like staying at your grandma's house, if your grandma stopped updating her house in the 70's, but was obsessive about cleaning. Yes, the bedspreads are polyester. Yes, the furniture is dated. As is the entire complex. But, it is clean, quiet, and close to the clinic, although not walking distance. My sister wanted an apartment that had a private washer and dryer, and a complete kitchen. And this is what she got. Along with windows with a view of the Zumbro River, and FREE parking. There is a coded entry, for safety, and each apartment also has a private key for the individual apartments, as well as the back door from the parking lot. The kitchens contain everything you need for cooking, from dishes and mugs to stove and a refrigerator. We needed a roll in shower, and so the manager gave us a three bedroom suite for the price of a two bedroom suite. It had two complete bathrooms, and a large laundry room, as well as comfortable couches, and a dining room with table and chairs. The AC worked well, and kept the apartment at whatever temperature we needed. Maintenance was so responsive that they beat me to my sister's apartment to change a lightbulb. The towels and washcloths are adequate, but I did go out to buy two bath sheets because I am spoiled. The mattress was as comfortable as my bed at home. Would I give this place five stars? No, because it is a little dated. And, the lightbulbs aren't very bright. But, if you need a cheaper place to stay, and you want to expand your horizons by meeting and greeting other cultures, and need a postal delivery address and great host, this is the place for you to stay. Just bring your own toiletries and any extras you might need. Or, there is a shopping center just up Civic Center Drive. My sister is still there, in her two bedroom, and her caregivers rotate. I would go back again and stay there, if I needed long term care.
