The breakfast was plentiful, the staff was very nice, very friendly, and I was very impressed. It was raining heavily that day, and we warmly greeted us to rest in the dining area and help to look after the luggage.

The better place to compare the general facilities is that it is more convenient to travel in the city centre. It is also very convenient to get off the train station. The hotel is very poor. If you are unfortunate, your window is next to the street. There is a bar downstairs every night. Shouting

Stayed with my partner for 2 nights. I have nothing but good things to say about The Hampton. We were checked in early and with great customer service. Our room was very clean and more than suitable. Buffet Breakfast is fine, maybe there could be a bit more variation with The hot food but more than ample and no complaints from us. The Hotel is spotlessly clean and located perfectly. Close enough for everything you need and quiet enough in the evening with a few bars and pubs to finish off the day. All in all a lovely stay and would not hesitate to stay again or recommend anybody that a stay here is well worth it. A very enjoyable stay in a lovely City.

This was a charming hotel, situated right in the heart of Canterbury. Our bedroom overlooked Canterbury cathedral which was incredible, and the room and hotel itself was full of character with crooked window frames and sloping ceilings. Staff were warm and welcoming. The stairs up to the hotel are very steep, so I don't think this would be a suitable hotel for anyone elderly or frail. Also, there was no shower in the bedroom, just a bath, so if you like mod cons, this might not be the hotel for you. Finally, there are no black-out blinds, the last breakfast sitting at the weekend was 9:30am and the bells from the cathedral, though lovely are very loud - so it wouldn't be an ideal choice if you wanted a sleep-in past 9am.

Recently spent a three night stay here, break away and to go to a concert in the nearby(ish) Spitfire Cricket Ground. Wont repeat what others have already said ... building is listed so some modern amenities not present. However, our suite at the front of the hotel was a good size, very clean and had a very comfortable large bed. Although noisy if you opened the windows, and we had to, as the tail end of the heatwave was still about. Pleasant bar experience and seamless check in / out. Only real issue, and this has been highlighted by others, and we experienced the same on a previous visit, was breakfast. When the smart guy with the beard was in charge, all runs smoothly and efficiently, When he isn't, it doesn't! we experienced both. The waiting staff appear bored and disinterested, fail to take orders properly, rarely engage with any of the diners, don't notice (or bother to top up) any of the items in the buffet ... bread running out, fruit not replaced, cold drinks left empty etc. and only once were we taken to a table and asked immediately what hot drinks we would like before ordering. Food is just (only just) average. If only the management team here, at all levels, could address breakfast, then this hotel would be ideal. Its in a great off-High St location, with a dedicated car park and (mostly) great staff. Particular thanks go to the main reception team, cleaning team, some (not all) of the staff taking orders and delivering drinks from the bar and the breakfast area manager. The rest need some serious customer service training or maybe a career review.

A small hotel with British characteristics. The rooms are not big. The key is that the rooms in the UK are small. There are many small country-style hotels in the UK. They are small and warm. I like this style very much. The restaurant on the first floor has very good business. The rooms are very clean, the heating was given early, and the breakfast was excellent. The disadvantage of this hotel is poor soundproofing. A few steps from the door is the most beautiful garden westgate gardens written on the guide. The cathedral is also very close and the price is moderate. This is a good choice for personal travel

Great value for money and was happy with our stay. The hotel is in prime position in the centre of the city and we were able to walk to the Marlowe theatre in less than 20 minutes. The room was very clean and the air con was appreciated on a hot day. The bed was very comfy and we slept well. Only negative is no parking, which I knew before I booked, so it wasn't a surprise. We paid £20 to park at Longport car park for roughly 22 hours. So keep this in mind when booking!

I had not much of expectations, thought of this place like of an ordinary hotel on the outskirts of the city. But it was perfect ! Calm environment, big and free of charge parking, well flowered park at the entrance. Rooms are spacious and clean, good beddings, nice variety of hot drinks and biscuits in the room. We just loved the staff! Everybody was so kind and welcoming. We’ve stayed there for three nights and finally each day we took our dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. Delicious !

Booked for Rutherford, but they transferred us to Keynes as I asked for a ground floor room, or one with elevator to room as one of our party was elderly and struggled with too many stairs. Initially was told we hadn't paid for Breakfast when we had. When I phoned up to check, it was their mistake for moving us, so had to go back to reception to get 'tags' for breakfast. Was told breakfast was 8 to 9:45. Got there at 9:30 to find it closed. (Checking my confirmation, it said there 8-9:30, but I'm *sure* I was told 9:45!) First double room they gave us only had a single bed, so had to back to reception to again to get a different room (same flat though) The bed was incredibly firm, and you could feel the springs. Showers were wet rooms that in one of the rooms we booked didn't drain properly at all. They didn't offer a parking permit to park outside the building, despite knowing we had moved to Keynes due to an elderly member of the party ! Self closers on room doors caused the doors to slam, so anyone else moving around in at least that flat, and possibly the flat above woke me up during the night. On the plus side, the rooms were clean, they provided clean towels and tea/coffee making facilities. The only redeeming quality of the night was it was cheap for a late booking. Travel lodge is *far* better quality. If you get put here for a conference, bring a mattress topper !!
