Had a pleasant stay at M Roof Hotel & Residence. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with modern design and good facilities. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay. The location is convenient with many eateries nearby and easy parking available. The rooftop pool was a nice bonus. Breakfast could have more variety, but overall it was a good value stay and I would consider coming back again. One suggestion for improvement would be to provide more clearly designated disabled parking spaces closer to the entrance to improve accessibility and convenience for guests with mobility needs.

The hotel's location is just so-so, with nothing much around. There's a coffee shop in the lobby though. Not sure if it was intentional, but they put us in a room at the very end of the 3rd floor, even though there were many floors and the hotel wasn't very full that day. The room itself didn't have a main overhead light, just a few small table lamps and reading lights, which made it super dark at night! There was also a lot of noise from modified car exhaust pipes late at night. Honestly, if you have astigmatism or are a light sleeper, you might want to think twice about staying here!!!

The hotel arranged for us to stay in a corner room which has weak WiFi access. I didn't have WiFi for the entire three nights stay. Furthermore, the bed was rather hard and the room was rather small. However, the hotel provides excellent breakfast and is located at a very strategic location. The hotel is very close to the Ipoh parade and within 10 mins drive to famous tourist spots like concubine lane. Overall, the experience was just alright.

Even though the hotel has been established for decades, the rooms are still fresh and clean. I read not so good reviews and many occasions I was reluctant to book. This time around I decided to give it a try and was amazingly surprised how wonderful it turned out to be. I will definitely comeback again and stay at Hotel Excelsior. Receptionist at the front desk was helpful. I purposely took photos of the room when I entered to show others what a difference it made my day. Ignore the other reviewers and note many be the management took notice and has improved since then ☺️

I’m from Ipoh and brought my Friends here for a short gateway . What a wonderful hotel to stay . Walking distance to famous restaurants and attractions. Easy to grab . Beside a restaurant got a nice restaurant to dine in especially the tou fu fa !!! Much nicer than the famous one . Another Japanese restaurant just beside the hotel . As a lawyer from Kuala Lumpur travelling to Ipoh for the purpose of attending court, this is definitely my go-to hotel in Ipoh. It’s extremely convenient (less than a kilometre to Ipoh High court), clean, nearly refurbished! On top of that, there’s a 7Eleven at the Lobby of the Hotel. Highly recommend to any lawyers from other states who travels on a regular basis to attend Ipoh High Court and needs to stay for at least one night.

The breakfast was nice, with a good variety of vegetables for the salad. The Singapore-style bihun goreng was so yummy! However, the rice for the nasi lemak tasted a little bit unusual. My kids really enjoyed the cereal, bihun goreng, bread with jam, and the pastries. Plus, near the hotel, there were plenty of restaurant and kiosk options around the Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah area. At night, you can rent bicycles, buggies, and other vehicles to ride around the roundabout—it was so much fun! There was even a small train, which the kids absolutely loved. In the morning, after our wonderful breakfast, my kids and I went back to the roundabout for a brisk walk and spent some time at the playground. It was really enjoyable and a great way to start the day. I would also like to send my appreciation to Trip.com customer service. The staff responded to my issue promptly and truly tried their best to resolve it. I’m very happy and grateful for the support from Trip.com. Keep up the great service!

This was my second stay here, and I still love the spacious room. Everything was perfect overall. 🤩 This time, we were a little unlucky because the room suddenly had a blackout in the middle of the night while we were sleeping. The next morning, after we called the service counter, the staff came to check and found that an electrical wire had burned out. They kindly offered to let us change rooms several times, but since we were checking out soon, it was fine for us to stay. The staff also apologized sincerely during check-out. Despite this small issue, I would definitely stay here again because the location is excellent, very close to tourist attractions and the highway.👍

Few times staying in this hotel as it’s near to my relative house. Location is quiet and easy to access to town. There are supermarket, seven eleven and mamak stall during the night. Parking is available if you’re driving. The room is clean (dust free) but there are stains in bathroom and mattress. Didn’t take photos of the room , overall look quite the same as the pictures in their webpage.

The hotel was excellent in some ways, but really lacking in others. The highlights of the hotel are the exceptional breakfast, the best I’ve had in SE Asia, and its delicious desserts and pastries in the lobby. As well as the very good service, with two things coming to mind, one being a free room upgrade, and two allowing me to go to breakfast 30 minutes early (6:30am vs 7:00am). The hotel is very aesthetic and unique in style too, and the tech is certainly interesting and used intelligently. However, they also make some bizarre decisions given they’re a 5* hotel. Firstly, why there is no soap in the bathroom I’ll never know, I shouldn’t have to go in the shower each time to get body wash to wash my hands each time. The shower would progressively get colder with a couple of minutes and be quite cold by 5 minutes in. The bed is far from luxury feeling, with it quite hard, though reasonably comfortable and the duvet cover had some marks on it. Finally, the tech means there are a lot of unnecessary lights around the room, which makes the room a lot less dark. Overall, I would have expected the hard product to be better within a hotel of this class but the soft product was definitely 5*.

Booked this place for my 2-day, 1-night trip to Ipoh for the first time. It's not too far from the city and you can even see trains passing by. The unit has basic kitchenware and a water heater. There's also a swimming pool downstairs. It's a shame we didn't have time to try it out before checking out. Hope to have a chance to visit again next time!

Breakfast varieties though not extensive but good enough (similar to the airport lounge) & breakfast ambience is good. Staffs were helpful & friendly especially the breakfast staffs & the conceirge staffs. We have 5 guests joining us for breakfast & the staff helped to see to the arrangement. Thanks. Hotel location is very convenient, within walking distance to mall & famous dim sum places but will highly recommend taking grabcar as it only cost 5RM as the cars don't stop at the crossing for pedestrian to cross at all & when it's raining!

I stayed during a public holiday and school holiday period, so a large crowd was expected. Unfortunately, the check-in process took over two hours. I queued from 6:00 PM and only checked in around 8:30 PM. Initially, there were two staff members handling check-ins, but later only one remained. Credit to the staff member on duty he stayed calm and professional despite the heavy crowd and queue cutting incidents. The issue was clearly a lack of manpower and planning. Management should anticipate higher guest volumes during long weekends and streamline the check-in process. The unit itself was clean, comfortable, and in excellent condition. Overall, the stay was enjoyable, but the check-in experience needs significant improvement during peak periods.

One suggestion is to consider waiving the deposit requirement, or for the agent to contact guests one day before check-in to reconfirm the booking and deposit payment. I had already submitted my deposit before check-in, but the agency may have missed my message. I only received the entry QR code after being stopped and questioned by the security guard, which made the experience stressful.

Online WhatsApp to contact the management team, they are pretty responsive. 2 issues Our unit in 08-07A, the common toilet started to stink after a shower, think the plumbing needs to be rechecked. Strangely the stink went away the next day after the toilet dried out by itself. The car park for this development is REALLY NARROW and u have to park designated lots. We drove 4 levels up and sharp turn saw many cars scratch their side on the pillars. Not the fault of the accommodation but be wary if u r driving a car and a new driver, go SLOW! Good stay overal

I saw the high rating on Trip.com and decisively chose to stay at this hotel, considering it as a potential top choice for future business trips. **Welcome:** Communication was seamless, and the doorman quickly guided me to the parking lot. **Parking:** There are two options: paid valet parking outside the hotel lobby, and a multi-story parking garage on floors 4-5 (free if you register at the front desk). There's a direct elevator from the parking lot to the lobby on the G floor, but it doesn't go directly to guest room floors. **Lobby/Front Desk:** Complimentary welcome drinks were available. The front desk staff were highly efficient, completing check-in within about 5 minutes. They also clearly informed me about the complimentary supper buffet at 11 PM (porridge, red bean soup, soy milk, and some side dishes). They also accommodated my request for a late check-out. **Guest Room:** I stayed on the 7th floor this time. There was a subtle, pleasant aroma from the lobby all the way to the room, not overpowering. The room was about 40 square meters, quite spacious, and the layout was very practical. The twin room also featured a bathtub, with warm lighting perfect for a relaxing soak. I personally prioritize good air conditioning, and it was excellent. The soundproofing of the glass was also good; occasionally, I could still hear the roar of modified cars or supercars. **Facilities:** The infinity pool on the rooftop (R floor) offered a great view. However, I noticed the hotel doesn't seem to have a gym, though I'm not entirely sure. **Breakfast:** The variety and selection were just average, not particularly extensive. The taste seemed to cater more to local Malaysian preferences. **Pros:** ① Complimentary supper, a thoughtful touch, which is rare for hotels in Malaysia. ② Direct access between the hotel and Ipoh Parade shopping mall. ③ Centrally located, so no worries about food and drinks. ④ Extremely fast room service. I requested a bucket of ice, and it arrived within 7 minutes. Impressive! ⑤ The complimentary mini-bar included regular coffee and tea, plus two extra beverages and two packets of peanuts/nuts. **Areas for Improvement:** ① I noticed that during supper time, the tables already had breakfast cutlery and tissues laid out. After guests finished supper and the used cutlery was cleared, the unused cutlery remained on the table. This is a significant hygiene concern. I suggest setting up breakfast cutlery after supper service. ② The hairdryer should be placed in the bathroom for guests' convenience, not in the wardrobe (as the noise can disturb a companion). ③ There was noticeable dust in the light strip recess next to the toilet in the bathroom. ④ The Wi-Fi speed needs improvement. While not terrible, it wasn't ideal and affected work efficiency. ⑤ The anti-slip properties of the floor tiles in the shower were not very good. This issue needs attention to prevent falls. WWilliam Lee PRI saw the high rating on Trip.com and decisively chose to stay at this hotel, considering it as a potential top choice for future business trips. **Welcome:** Communication was seamless, and the doorman quickly guided me to the parking lot. **Parking:** There are two options: paid valet parking outside the hotel lobby, and a multi-story parking garage on floors 4-5 (free if you register at the front desk). There's a direct elevator from the parking lot to the lobby on the G floor, but it doesn't go directly to guest room floors. **Lobby/Front Desk:** Complimentary welcome drinks were available. The front desk staff were highly efficient, completing check-in within about 5 minutes. They also clearly informed me about the complimentary supper buffet at 11 PM (porridge, red bean soup, soy milk, and some side dishes). They also accommodated my request for a late check-out. **Guest Room:** I stayed on the 7th floor this time. There was a subtle, pleasant aroma from the lobby all the way to the room, not overpowering. The room was about 40 square meters, quite spacious, and the layout was very practical. The twin room also featured a bathtub, with warm lighting perfect for a relaxing soak. I personally prioritize good air conditioning, and it was excellent. The soundproofing of the glass was also good; occasionally, I could still hear the roar of modified cars or supercars. **Facilities:** The infinity pool on the rooftop (R floor) offered a great view. However, I noticed the hotel doesn't seem to have a gym, though I'm not entirely sure. **Breakfast:** The variety and selection were just average, not particularly extensive. The taste seemed to cater more to local Malaysian preferences. **Pros:** ① Complimentary supper, a thoughtful touch, which is rare for hotels in Malaysia. ② Direct access between the hotel and Ipoh Parade shopping mall. ③ Centrally located, so no worries about food and drinks. ④ Extremely fast room service. I requested a bucket of ice, and it arrived within 7 minutes. Impressive! ⑤ The complimentary mini-bar included regular coffee and tea, plus two extra beverages and two packets of peanuts/nuts. **Areas for Improvement:** ① I noticed that during supper time, the tables already had breakfast cutlery and tissues laid out. After guests finished supper and the used cutlery was cleared, the unused cutlery remained on the table. This is a significant hygiene concern. I suggest setting up breakfast cutlery after supper service. ② The hairdryer should be placed in the bathroom for guests' convenience, not in the wardrobe (as the noise can disturb a companion). ③ There was noticeable dust in the light strip recess next to the toilet in the bathroom. ④ The Wi-Fi speed needs improvement. While not terrible, it wasn't ideal and affected work efficiency. ⑤ The anti-slip properties of the floor tiles in the shower were not very good. This issue needs attention to prevent falls. There's also a co-working space specifically for digital nomads, and the gym is excellent. The garden on the second floor is beautiful both day and night. The hotel itself isn't far from the city center. It's about 6-8 MYR by Grab from the train station, and roughly the same to the Mural Street. To Perak Cave and Mirror Lake, it's about 8-10 MYR, making it very convenient to get around. The only issue is that since the apartment is quite new, Grab's current pick-up/drop-off point is located at the main entrance on the main road. If you have a lot of luggage, you might need to ask the driver to go around to the reception area at the back of the apartment.

The highlights of the hotel are the exceptional breakfast, the best I’ve had in SE Asia, and its delicious desserts and pastries in the lobby. As well as the very good service, with two things coming to mind, one being a free room upgrade, and two allowing me to go to breakfast 30 minutes early (6:30am vs 7:00am). The hotel is very aesthetic and unique in style too, and the tech is certainly interesting and used intelligently. However, they also make some bizarre decisions given they’re a 5* hotel. Firstly, why there is no soap in the bathroom I’ll never know, I shouldn’t have to go in the shower each time to get body wash to wash my hands each time. The shower would progressively get colder with a couple of minutes and be quite cold by 5 minutes in. The bed is far from luxury feeling, with it quite hard, though reasonably comfortable and the duvet cover had some marks on it. Finally, the tech means there are a lot of unnecessary lights around the room, which makes the room a lot less dark. Overall, I would have expected the hard product to be better within a hotel of this class but the soft product was definitely 5*.
