Playa Colibri is a very pretty apartment complex located across a quiet road from one of the nicest stretches of beach in Las Terrenas. Cute, simply furnished units. Some of the 2nd and 3rd floor apartment apartments have views of the ocean and all face a large well-landscaped central garden with pool. The hotel’s open air restaurant offers a nice buffet breakfast, good lunches and dinner (plus a happy hour perfect for enjoying the sunset). There’re several good restaurants nearby and many more in town (a 15 minute walk or short motorbike ride away). The hotel’s staff are friendly and very helpful.

We stayed here for 2 weeks. Flew into the Samaná Airport with WestJet. It is a small airport and had very helpful staff who guided us to our WestJet Rep. Stress free arrival. The Wyndham was only a 20-30min ride from the airport. Check in was friendly and welcoming. Our room was #1303. An amazing room. This building was closest to the ocean, we could not have picked a better room. Beautiful ocean view and we could hear the waves. The room itself was good and the bed was very comfortable. We were looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday, with no agenda and no need to ever look at the clock. For us, we found what we were looking for at this resort. Our selected beach spot was just down from the volleyball net. This area was less congested and we enjoyed having space to ourselves. . . As mentioned the beach is quiet, you can walk either way and come across only a few people. The ocean typically had waves, but not usually big enough to prevent swimming. There was only one day during our 2 week visit where it was red flagged. We really enjoyed listening to the waves. We were happy with the food and drinks. Even after 2 weeks we were never tired of the buffets, great food and good variety. We really appreciated not having to reserve at the a la carte restaurants. We found we frequented the buffets though because of the great selection. This was our first time to DR. I was surprised of the limited amount of English most staff spoke, it wasn’t a problem though. Most evenings there had been live music, again keeping with the theme of the Resort, it was very relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed having dinner then enjoying a glass of wine listening to the entertainment. This has nothing to do with the Resort, but worth mentioning. We booked 3 excursions. For what we booked, lengthy travel was involved. It seemed anything involving a boat ride left from Samana. With other stops, it took about 2 hours each way. We ended up opting out of our 3rd excursions for this reason, we were not up to the 2 hour bus ride each way, just to get to the boat. We wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

Location: The hotel is centrally located across the street from Las Terrenas beach which is not a beach that you can speak of but you will be pretty near from Punta Popy and that one is beautiful! Don’t bother looking for a hotel that has it’s own beach cause non of them in Las Terrenas have one but it doesn’t matter since they are just steps away. About the Hotel: They have a promo which is cash only: us55 per person per night and babies under 2 years go free. No deposit was required They include daily cleaning, fumigation and the breakfast (very good and is located in the second floor, you can enjoy the beach view and they have a high chair) but don’t include lunch or dinner. Service is very nice and friendly The check in is at 12pm and check out is at 1pm but maybe for the low season they are accepting guest to arrive early and leave late for free. They called me at 9am to tell me the apartment was ready and we could go. And on the departure we left around 2:30pm but they told us we could stay longer (loved that, specially because we almost had the whole property all for ourselves since it was in low occupancy. Can’t describe how relaxing it was) They give you two beach cards for the towels and give you a courtesy beach bag (thank you) About the apartment: (I’ll show you the pictures they sent me) It was the apartment 14, facing the pool. They are pretty big: private balcony with furniture, kitchen well equipped and plenty of drinking water, two TV, living room with furniture, there is a bidet in the bathroom which is very important to me, bathroom amenities were clean towels, 2 shampoos and 2 shower gel (didn’t see conditioner or a telephone in the room), and two toilet paper; huge bed and huge closet, air conditioning, ceiling fan, we also requested a crib when we made the reservation and it was there when we arrived. clean and perfect 👌🏼 Cons: -The bed was extremely noisy and it was a real issue because we went with our toddler Good to know: -I heard there is an issue with the mosquitoes in Las terrenas. I saw about 3 of them inside the apartment especially in the closet but didn’t have a problem with them. I did bring a mosquito nest and repellent but didn’t have to use them so take the precaution just in case -there is a curfew in the country that goes from 9pm to about 7am but you can still order delivery food till 10pm -there’s an App called “komida” and another one called “rapidfood” where you can see the menu and prices of different restaurants in las terrenas that have delivery -there are bars and restaurants that are close on mondays or tuesdays, some week days, so do research before you go. Look for the places you want to visit, most of them are on instagram, facebook, trip advisor... check their phone number and call before you go. -there are lots of places that doesn’t have high chair for babies and some of them have just one -there are places and restaurants that are cash only Good Reataurants near by: Right next to t

Ocean front, gorgeous pool areas, beautiful bar and restaurant, excellent service with delicious sea food I recommend the sea food BBQ very well appointed rooms. The only thing I can think here is that people are trying to keep this resort a secret. Do not miss out if you are headed to Playa Bonita in Dominican Republican, we stayed in an ocean front room that was very large, beautifully appointed, very comfortable bed. A garden lounge. The staff was gentle educate and very professional

This is my second visit to this magnificent location. The rooms are always so well cleaned and appointed. The location is second to none. Right on the beach. Great service. There’s a private restaurant. There’s also a private bar service where you can keep your own bottles nice and chilled while you’re sitting in the heat. The pool is great. It was relatively quiet while we were there which made the experience that much more special. At the beach, hanging trees provided a lot of shade and the water was spectacular. There are showers, bathrooms, volleyball courts, and other activities available on site. There’s also boating available for free. Bicycles are $15 per day and they are excellent. We were a short ride away from the centre of town where we could buy groceries, pastries, baked goods. Many French settlers have increased the level of gastronomy in the area. I would highly recommend this hotel. Great for families too.

Great location and facilities. Large rooms with nice pool and dining options. Staff were fantastic especially Celia at the pool bar. Beach is right across the street and there are plenty of lounge chairs at both the beach and pool. Only a 10 minute walk into the village for restaurants. Plenty of nearby (5 min walk) restaurants and beach bars as well.

We enjoyed our stay at Aligio. The outdoor area with two pools was really beautiful. The sea was just a few steps away. The room was simple but spacious and quiet. There were lots of restaurants and shopping opportunities within short walking distance. We appreciated free parking and the fact that a friend of ours in the same town could enter for a visit.

My wife and I stayed 7 nights with a hotel reservation. We arrived here by private taxi($148) from the Whostel in Santiago, at 1 PM, less than a 4 hour drive through vast rice fields. Their Spanish speaking receptionist processed my Visa card, then provided a small bag with our keys, AC and TV(CNN/CBS in English) controls, and tickets for beach/pool towels. A bellman carried our bags up the 2 flights of steps to our 3rd floor room #B10. The entry key activates the electricity to this clean tiled spacious room with a comfortable king, 2 nightstands, 3 door closet, refer, bag stand, shelf unit with TV, small desk and chair, and spacious fully outfitted bathroom with separate shower. Our private patio, with a table and 2 chairs, both inside and out, overlooks the beach bar and the Atlantic surf. The 7:30 AM breakfast buffet(sometimes delayed and unorganized) is served at the El Kiosco with fresh fruit, OJ, coffee/hot milk/tea, meat, cheese, scrambled eggs and pancakes. The pool with foot/body shower is overlooked by a massage room and 2 bike gym which we used daily. Our general situation here is nearly perfect in good weather with the perfect walk-able Playa Bellenas(calm, wide with gentle slope) extending for 1.5 km to the west, while 600 m to the east begin the restaurants of the Pueblo de Los Pescadores and the village. To its south, we found the small Supermarket Ignacio, then nearly a further km, the large Super Mercado Lindo/Scotiabank. Las Terrenas caters to an older Italian and French clientele; we enjoyed our visit and this property was an excellent value at ~$US 70/night, using our Visa.
