everything was good except the food. it was a major let down. it was either too salty, lacking tase or only can taste the chilli powder. Even the breakfast was a letdown having only Sri Lankan and Bread and pastries, which was not freshly baked. No tea of coffee available unless you order it separately. overall 3 out of 5. Hotel and location is good. Staff was very friendly too.

Beautiful hotel in Sigiriya, view over the Lion Rock from the pool which is gorgeous as well, hotel is well located close to Dambulla temple, Minneriya Park for elephant watching,… Good experiences at the restaurant with the buffet at night, lunch and cocktails were fine too. Hotel staff is kind and helpful. Room (two floors) was comfortable and clean, a bathtub and shower room were both available. Not a big deal but the kid’s club needs a serious cleaning and upgrade (does not match the hotel standing at all). Positive note not well enough advertized: the free pottery experience for kids at the next-door hotel (walking distance)

The hotel location is good sigiriya lion rock is not much far from here. Many birds particularly peacocks are there in the property making it a good experience. The room and bathrooms were clean. Hand towels were not there in the room by default have to ask reception both day but upon asking they were delivered promptly. Breakfast spread was good enough. Just that the food on order is not good enough atleast for our taste, but in buffet it is good like many options are only available in buffet but not in ala carte.

I used it when I traveled with 3 friends! It's a place where you can heal with plenty of nature, but the location was good because you can go to the rice shop as soon as you take a taxi. I wore it without hesitation because there was a sign nearby. The most impressive thing was the kindness of the owner! I arrived late at night, but he welcomed me very warmly without a disgusting face. The tea that was served for free on my way home was really delicious. The room was great, and even if we stayed for 3 people, there was a fluffy bed for each person! It was cool at night and I could sleep well, and the water area I was worried about was usually clean and there was no problem at all. Anyway, the owner's personality was nice and it was an inn that I would definitely want to stay again!

As we came in we were welcomed with fantastic passion fruit juice. We came after dark & only requested simple white rice & fried vegetable but the chef and her staff made an amazing dinner with simple vegetable & rice. I realized how food prepared with heart can heal our soul. I was kept thinking if people in the world could eat this kind of food with real soul in it, could heal the whole world!! In the room, a separate shower and a separate toilet. Beds are not very comfortable and pillows. No blanket, just a bed. Most of the roses in the old-fashioned room, they are not suitable for the crossovers. Food:Dinner and breakfast-Swedish table.Choice is good, not all delicious, but you can find something to eat and not stay hungry. We had dinner included-he on the menu.It was provided on the day of departure, because on the day of arrival we didn't have time. The dinner was very much liked, restaurant dishes, good servings. We chose this hotel based on the location! We arrived, looked and booked 3 rooms. Moreover, it was cheaper to book through the website than at the hotel. When they showed us the rooms, a very sharp, specific smell hit our noses, I asked what it was, they told me that these were their air fresheners and they could be washed off. I said that I could not live with such a smell and needed to be removed, they said ok and we went to check in. Then I threw my things and went swimming and eating. In the evening, I returned to the room, the smell was there and then it dawned on me that it was a cockroach repellent!!!!!! The victims were already lying all over the room, and very large ones. At the reception, they silently moved me, without even apologizing. This moment, of course, spoiled the impression. After all, I immediately said that the smell was very sharp. The bathroom is very interestingly made, it is as if outside, in the shower there is a net and an outside nook. Leaving the cool room there is a strong contrast, but this does not spoil the rest. I liked the design of the disposable sets, they looked very stylish. In the evenings, musicians played in the restaurant (the first day there were mantras to the music, on the second day a guy sang very chicly. In the restaurant you can eat from the menu or dinner/lunch buffet. We tried both options, everything is very good. Very attentive staff in the cafe, the administrator saw us and ran to prepare a table for us. They also served by the pool. The territory is not large, but it is conducive to relaxation. Monkeys even came running. Friends went to the spa, they said the massage was good. From the hotel we went to Sigiriya (20 minutes by car) and on a safari in the park.

Stayed in room 234. Lets start with the bad. The shower rose did not work. Extreme caution is needed when using the shower, as the water could potentially give you third degree burns and the floor was very slippery. Now the average. I personally thought the dinner menu was a little restrictive and food quality lacked. Now the good. Very spacious room and bathroom. Quality bed linen and towels. Comfortable bed and good AC. Staff very polite, responsive and helpful. Would stay again, but they need to get the shower sorted, as it is dangerous.

After the Lion Rock came out, the hotel was quite remote. I felt that I had walked through a hotel in the wilderness. I didn’t dare to leave the hotel door at night. The room was large and quiet. The place to eat was at the pool, breakfast and dinner were at The hotel solved it, there were not many varieties, and there was no problem in eating. When I left, I found a piece of clothing falling in the hotel and called to contact me. I said that I would go to Colombo three days later and let the hotel express to the Colombo Hotel. I promised very well. During the period, I repeatedly asked if I had no problem, but I still didn’t receive it in the hotel three days later. I called and said that I hadn’t sent it yet, so that I finally didn’t receive the clothes when I left Sri Lanka. It’s also a pity~

I was able to stay in the wilderness and the service was great, but the drainage of the shower in the villa I stayed in was completely useless and the water overflowed from the shower room. Fortunately, there was another bathroom, so I tried to use it, but I don't think it will improve unless I redo the left-handed construction on the floor of the shower room. And when I was taking a shower in the middle of the night, the water supply suddenly stopped coming out, so I spilled it with mineral water. If I hadn't improved by the morning, I was going to tell the front desk, and I was going to leave in the morning.

First of all, service from Bagdea, Jaathu, Kishaulya and the young restaurant girl (forgot her name, my bad) made my stay warm and quite pleasant. They were all quite helpful. When I was late arriving at the hotel and the sky was dark, Kishaulya texted to enquire. That felt reassuring. I didn't really enjoy the breakfast buffet but at dinner, I had a good a la carte meal. Sigiriya is a little town rather self contained. Apart from the pool, there isn't much entertainment at the hotel although they had a cultural performance and a pop singer on the 2 nights I was there. You have to appreciate the ecological side of the Sigiriya area. So if you are looking for energetic activities, then it's not for you. Unless you count climbing the Lion Rock! My room was nice and spacious although I would have preferred a double bed instead of 2 singles. On my 2nd day, I went out of the hotel to have lunched and hung the sign for my room to be made up. Upon my return, I was pleasantly surprised someone noticed and did it in the short time I was away. So I found that I was well taken care of there

This hotel exceeded my expectations; the price-performance ratio is amazing. Currently, the hotel only has 10 rooms, as the new area is still under construction and will be fully completed in 2027. The road to the hotel isn't easy to walk, but we even saw wild peacocks along the way. The hotel has a small garden with various fruits and vegetables, a small cabin, and a small jungle trail where you can shoot arrows. We casually strolled around and met some staff who gave us a tour, explaining the different fruits and vegetables – it was really interesting! They even offered to take us birdwatching the next morning, although there weren't many birds, haha, but the morning air was truly refreshing. At night, there were sounds from the rooftop, like some kind of animal running by, along with various bird calls – very natural. Breakfast is a set menu; we ordered the American and Continental options, and there wasn't much difference. The taste was just okay. Overall, a very satisfying stay, I would recommend it to friends, and if I have the chance to visit Sri Lanka again, I would definitely stay here.

Amba Yaalu — A Swan-Like Masterclass in Women-Led Luxury I arrived at Amba Yaalu by Thema Collection without quite knowing what to expect—after all, it was my first time staying in a “women-led” hotel. I wondered what the experience would feel like, and what new energy the concept might bring. What I found was exceptional: the service was of the same highest standard I would expect from this caliber of hotel chain—yet delivered with a distinctive style, unmistakably described as “swan-like.” 🦢 There’s no question the women are working ferociously—in the way a swan’s feet move beneath the water to create effortless beauty. And that’s exactly what you feel here. Under the surface, everything is operating with precision, speed, and strength. But what guests experience is something else entirely: grace. poise. warmth. smiles that arrive with such ease that it feels like the entire property glides. The atmosphere is genuinely welcoming. I noticed it not only from the staff, but in the way kindness seems to move through the whole guest experience—women, men, and children all smiling in a way that is tender, natural, and beautifully effortless. And yes—because luxury should be truly thoughtful—all of my bags were carried to my room for me. No fuss. No lifting. Just seamless, dignified care from arrival onward. If you’re looking for a stay that pairs top-tier hospitality with a rare, elegant spirit, Amba Yaalu is it. A hotel that doesn’t just host you—it makes you feel quietly cared for, beautifully welcomed, and entirely at ease. Truly unforgettable.

A wonderful hotel in a quiet place among the rice fields. Pavlin and the sounds of the jungles. If you like nature and privacy - great! It is necessary to understand that there is no ”civilization” right next to you. In the rooms everything is good, clean and comfortable. Very joyfully accepted. Very delicious breakfast and dinner! Thanks to all the hotel staff) The most important thing for those who drive the car, the road on which Google leads by default, on the side of the lake is bad, with pits, barely passed. On the other hand, the road is even gpuet, but much better. Applied in a photo map.

Overall, a good experience, especially the unique hotel design and beautiful views. It's understandable that some facilities are a bit dated, and there were mosquitoes in the public areas due to the natural surroundings, but none in the room. It was a value-for-money stay, highly recommended.

This is a hotel nestled in the mountains! Excellent location! Fresh air! Cleanliness: Clean and tidy! Facilities: Good Environment: Excellent, with many small animals Service: Okay I would still recommend it, although it's a bit of a drive in.

One of my favorite hotels in Sri Lanka. The main reason is people. They are very nice ! The room is good, not exceptional, and the AC tends to turn off at night. Keep in mind that you are in the middle of Sri Lanka, so this was okay for me. They take good care of you.

This is a nice hotel in a great location in terms of seeing the key sights in the area we wanted to visit (walking distance to Sigiriya and Pidurangala rocks, and a short tuk tuk ride to a night loris walk). It is on a main road so there is a bit of noise from that if you have a room at the front of the hotel like we did - especially some loud music playing early in the morning. I recommend asking for a room as far away from the road as available. The room was more basic than I expected for the price but importantly it was big and clean. I think you are paying the price for a proper hotel in this location. The hotel pool is big and very clean, it is perfect for a dip to cool down - and very scenic, surrounded by lovely trees. We were a bit disappointed with the hotel restaurant menu which has nearly no vegetarian options on it, and similarly the breakfast buffet wasn’t worth it for us to purchase, but there are lots of other restaurants walking distance from the hotel to go to. The staff were helpful especially in putting us in touch with the loris night tour.
