It's quite a long walk from Southern Cross Station, and some of the paths are narrow, making it difficult to pull luggage. The front desk is on the second floor, and self-check-in is available. Since I arrived early and wanted to check in sooner, I paid an extra $25 per night to upgrade to a queen room with a desk. The deposit was $100. The room facilities were complete, though the shower head in the bathroom was fixed overhead and only allowed for direction adjustment. There were plenty of TV channels, including Phoenix TV for Chinese viewers. The staff on the ground floor were very friendly.

Amazing experience! The apartment was spotless, stylish, and very comfortable. The host went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect and was always easy to communicate with. The location was great and made getting around very simple. I truly enjoyed my stay and would 100% book this place again. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality! 🏡✨

The overall experience leans towards a high-end boutique hotel style. The location is excellent, close to Collins Street, making it very convenient for getting around. The rooms are well-designed, modern, and tasteful, with comfortable bedding and good soundproofing. The service is professional yet unobtrusive, making it ideal for business travelers or those seeking a touch of quality.

Every worker in this hotel was so kind from the first day to the end. Especially Amy, in front desk, showed the whole map and recommended what-to-do in Melbourne. This hotel made the vibe of the city very nice and kind. If you are considering hotels in the CBD, I highly recommend this hotel.

I recently stayed at Novotel Melbourne on Collins, and overall it was a great experience. The location is unbeatable — right in the heart of the city, with easy access to shops, cafes, and public transport. The rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable, with large windows overlooking Collins Street. The bed was very cozy and ensured a good night’s sleep. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially at check-in — they made everything smooth and welcoming. Breakfast had a good variety of options, and the dining area was bright and pleasant. The gym and facilities were well-maintained, though the pool was a bit small. Overall, it’s an excellent choice for both business and leisure stays. The combination of great location, comfort, and professional service makes it one of the best value stays in Melbourne CBD.

Check-in was smooth and the staff were genuinely friendly, creating a great first impression. The hotel’s location is ideal—nestled between two major roads within the CBD’s free tram zone. My room was on the 9/F and top floor, spacious and well-appointed. Though the hotel is surrounded by buildings and doesn’t offer any view, it’s peaceful and practical. coin-operated laundry and dryer are available onsite, with laundry powder sold at reception for $1 AUD, which is quite handy for extended stays. The television doesn’t support direct login to streaming platforms like Netflix, but I easily mirrored content from my personal device. This workaround worked well for casual viewing during my downtime. There were a few downsides. One pillow had a visible mold stain, which raised a hygiene concern. I had my Do Not Disturb sign displayed throughout my stay, yet housekeeping entered and cleaned the room on my final day. It was an unexpected breach of privacy, and I hope the hotel takes note and reinforces respect for guest preferences. Despite these minor issues, the overall experience was highly satisfying. The combination of its prime location, spacious rooms, thoughtful amenities, and friendly service makes this hotel a dependable and comfortable choice.

The hotel is centrally located, making it convenient for both dining and getting around. There's a free tram service within the loop line. We stayed in a comfortable two-bedroom apartment with a living room, and it came fully equipped with a refrigerator, cabinets, stove, and dishes. The only downside was the lack of an in-room washing machine, and the communal laundry machines were often in use.

Overall the location is excellent and clean. Suitable for travellers that enjoy city shopping and food adventure. Not recommended for people looking to relax and spend time in the hotel as there is not much in house facilities. Also, sound- proofing is not very good, I got waken up by people going in and out of hotel room in the morning. Overall, if you are looking to rest at night that is a good choice.

The place is a bit dated, specially noticeable in the pool/gym amenities. However, what it lacks in newness, it makes up with excellent service. My child was celebrating her birthday and was surprised with a birthday treat during breakfast. This may be a small thing, but we appreciated it as she is anaphylactic to dairy and the staff made sure everything on her cake was dairy-free. We were also allowed to check in a bit later.

I booked this hotel during a Ctrip promotion, and honestly, the price was a steal at 1000/night. First, the pros: Location: It's right in the city center, first ring, free zone. You can take the tram for a free city walk. If you're on a day tour, the bus pick-up point is just a two-minute walk away. The front desk staff, Holy, and the senior gentleman from concierge were both very nice. Now, for the cons: The coffee spoon wasn't clean, it was dirty. The minibar fridge had cooling issues; the bottom was full of water. These, I could overlook. However, and seriously, as a Hyatt Globalist, I rarely stay at InterContinental, and I have never, in all my previous experiences, encountered an unlocked room door. I left my room early Friday morning for a day tour and returned at 9:30 PM to find my room door unlocked, just as pictured. I was shocked. The next day, I spoke to the duty manager, and they checked the surveillance footage, confirming that no one had entered my room. But my stay experience was truly poor. Such carelessness, forgetting to lock the guest's door after cleaning. Plus, this hotel's elevators don't require a room card swipe. At 9:30 PM, both the front desk and concierge were empty, making it easy for anyone to access any floor. I somewhat regret not spending a bit more to stay at the Grand Hyatt. Also, I heard this hotel is rebranding to Regent, oh my! InterContinental truly feels like a makeshift operation. To think they dare to rebrand to Regent like this! This hotel usually sells at the same price as the Grand Hyatt, and if it weren't for this promotion, I definitely wouldn't have chosen it. InterContinental left such a terrible impression on me; it's really hard not to come here and complain.

This hotel is right next to St. Patrick's. While it's not in the free tram zone, it's just a one-stop walk to get there. The hotel facilities are a bit old, but they are well-maintained. Although the hardware shows its age, the 'software' (services) is generally good. Breakfast is semi-à la carte, and while the variety might be a bit lacking for Chinese tastes, it's still pretty good compared to local options. The selection is even richer and the quality better than at Crown Plaza. All in all, for a Park Hyatt that costs about the same as a Grand Hyatt, you shouldn't expect too much beyond the price, but it still offers good value for money.

The staff are super helpful and friendly. But the bathroom and toilet facilities are a bit outdated. The tap over the wash basin keeps dripping water and it's making loud dripping sound that it's disturbing our sleep. Since we only stayed for a couple of nights, so we did not bother to ask for change of room. Also, it really difficult to turn the tap on and off with these old-styled taps. Hopefully some renovation is in line soon when we come back next year to stay there...

This was my family's first time staying in a hostel, and I was a bit apprehensive, but it turned out to be a really good experience. Prices were quite high due to the holiday, and I chose this hotel mainly for its location. The staff were friendly, but the facilities are *extremely* basic, so please be prepared. The hand soap was watered down, and there were no tissues, so bring your own. The exhaust fan is centrally controlled and cannot be turned off. The AC was incredibly loud and kept rattling, making it impossible to sleep if it wasn't turned off. Also, the building is very old; you'll hear creaking noises from people walking around, even if they're not close to your room. This can be quite unsettling in the middle of the night or wake you up in the morning. If you're a light sleeper, I'd advise caution! However, if the price is normal and very good value, it might be worth considering. The location is indeed very convenient.

Our stay in a Luxury King Room at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins was absolutely fantastic. The room was spacious and bright, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering expansive views of the Melbourne city skyline. The bedding was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a wonderful night's sleep. The executive lounge provided excellent service, with a wide variety of breakfast options, and the afternoon tea and evening snacks were equally delightful. Melbourne City Backpackers is a top pick for solo budget travelers like me exploring Melbourne. Centrally located near Southern Cross Station and Queen Victoria Market, it's perfect for hopping on trams or the SkyBus from the airport, and just a short trip to Phillip Island penguins. Friendly staff shared insider tips on local cafes and sights, while the free breakfast kickstarted my days. The spacious dorms came with lockers (bring your own padlock), power outlets, and decent cleanliness—common areas stayed sociable without feeling chaotic. Kitchen facilities were well-equipped for self-catering on a student budget. Only minor downsides: street noise at night (earplugs helped) and no elevator, so pack light. Overall, unbeatable value at ~$30/night—highly recommend for backpackers wanting convenience and vibe! 9/10.

Because my friend's house is in the apartment opposite, I chose to book this hotel. It looks like an ancient building, but the actual guest room department lives in the building behind. There are many guest rooms on the first floor, so the room is small, but it is very clean and has a lot of hot water. Anyway, I just come back to sleep every day. This hotel is perfectly located if arriving into Melbourne on the train from Sydney. The hotel let me check in early at no extra charge. I found the staff to be cheerful, pleasant and very helpful. The room was spacious and very clean. The coffee and tea facilities were in the room but hidden in the cupboard next to the fridge and the drinking glasses were stored in the fridge! (Never seen that done before). The swimming pool was a nice added bonus and breakfast, although very basic, was adequate. [I only stayed one night, any longer that breakfast would certainly be classed as extremely boring!😜]. I did enjoy my stay and for one or two nights would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is a bit old, but its location is a big plus – super convenient for shopping! The bed was comfy and soft, and the in-room facilities were well-equipped. I returned to Melbourne and booked this Hyatt property again, and honestly, I'm a bit disappointed. The location is still excellent, but the service is practically non-existent. Though, I guess that's a common issue with hotels in Australia? There was a small hiccup at check-out where I was wrongly charged $40 for dinner. It makes me wonder if someone who isn't fluent in English or doesn't scrutinize their bill would just end up paying that extra charge. Luckily, I argued it with the hotel on the spot. I was rushing to catch a flight, so I had Trip.com follow up, and their service was really good; they promptly sent an email to resolve it. Overall, there are only a few good hotels in Melbourne's CBD. If you're booking based on location, I'd recommend it. However, if you're looking for better service at the same price point, I'd suggest the hotels in Southbank instead.

Before arriving in Melbourne, the hotel called to inform me that the air conditioner was broken and it would take a few days to repair it, and asked if I needed to check out. I always choose this hotel every time I go to Melbourne. It has been more than 10 years. Although the hotel facilities and environment are relatively old, it is in the city center, very convenient to get in and out, and there are trams, restaurants and shopping nearby. In the end, I chose to stay. In Melbourne's summer, the temperature difference between morning and evening is quite large. It is very hot during the day but still very comfortable at night. The hotel is quite considerate and equipped with fans. The only inconvenient thing is cleaning. You need to tell the front desk before 10 o'clock every morning, and they will arrange it. After 10 o'clock, you have to wait until the next day to clean. I will choose this hotel next time I go to Melbourne.

Very limited Vegan options for breakfast. Food not labelled for safe choices to be made. The hotel boasts a gym, this was a consideration when booking - it's a fitness room at best, my home gym has more equipment & is larger. Very disappointed. One of the three lifts was out of order for the 4 nights we were there, this meant the lifts were very busy & took much longer to move from floor to floor. The room (Skyline King) was not hoovered very well & was tired & grubby. Will not use this hotel again.

Service: The service was great, and the front desk staff were very enthusiastic. They even asked if I had a preferred room number or numbers I wanted to avoid, which was very considerate. Environment: However, the overall room size was very small. The room I was given seemed to be a disabled-access room, with a very large bathroom, but I didn't like that there were so many rooms on that floor. Facilities: There's a gym and a swimming pool, but the pool is tiny, almost not suitable for actual swimming. The hotel entrance is a bit hard to find, located in what's essentially an alley. Was told they were coming back to fix but when I went to reception at 7:45pm to ask why they’re not fixed I was told they determined they could not fix until a later date, Requested a room refund from Crown which was declined. Very poor experience and will be taking the request for refund further. With no natural light it was akin to staying in a large dormitory.

Definitely not the best hostel I've been too but not the worst either. However I wouldn't recommend as a female guest. First, they take a photo of you upon check in. I don't know if this is customary in Australia but if it was up to me I wouldnt be willing to provide it (it is stated on trip.com upon booking though, I guess I just missed it). Second... I'm not making any claims here but inside the female bathrooms, there are tiny holes on the walls and doors. They could totally be harmless, but as someone living in Korea where those holes in public bathrooms mean something harmful to women... I wouldn't risk staying at such a place ever again now that I know. Now for the facility review... There was 1 working bathroom with 2 toilets & 2 shower booths on my floor, but it probably wasnt too crowded, I never had to wait to shower. Hot water came out just fine. Would give a 7/10 for cleanliness... There were 2 hair dryers only 1 of which was working. The location is very good, walking distance to all CBD landmarks (very near South Cross Station & tram station right outside the door). Which also means that it gets noisy at night with the noise from the train running. You can either close the window (which I heard is very heavy) and live with the stuffy smell, or leave the window open and live with the noise. Cant do both. Amenities... what do I say? I got a key to enter the room & the bathroom. The beds werent numbered so you just get your room number and hop on whichever bed that seemed... fresh. A bed with a blanket, pillow, and curtain for privacy. That was all. They did provide free towels when I asked later. Inside the shared bathroom, there was 1 gel provided inside the shower booth, not sure if it was shower gel or shampoo... I do believe there is plenty room for improvement. Starting from the holes in the shower booths..

The Great Southern Hotel Melbourne is our preferred hotel whenever we travel to Melbourne. It is strategically located near to tram and Southern Cross station. It also provide the option of early check in at 10am despite we need to pay $30 for this option which i think is reasonable, as we can rest in hotel early after a long journey.

It’s a nice little place that did what it needed to do to keep a roof over my head. Slightly annoying that you have to use the bathroom/shower in seperate areas within the hotel but that was already known once paying for a room in advance.

The apartment matched the pictures online almost perfectly, 99% accurate! Even though the hotel has been open for years, the rooms and facilities were spotlessly clean. No water stains on the walls, and the bathroom was completely free of mold or black spots in any corners. The drains worked perfectly with no unpleasant odors. I stayed for 6 days, and whenever I hung the cleaning card, they came to clean promptly. The front desk service was excellent. Overall, I'm very satisfied and will definitely book here again in the future.

The hotel's location is excellent, close to Chinatown and the city center. The breakfast is abundant. This is our second time staying here, and aside from the sealed windows, we're quite satisfied with everything else. Especially commendable is the late check-out till 12 PM, considering our flight was at 4 PM – that's truly rare and much appreciated!
