We were here for one night before beginning an eco tour. Hotel is centrally located and close to some shops and restaurants, as well as the water front. The room amenities were basic, but in fine condition. It was a bit dusty in the room but otherwise clean. Soundproofing was not great, and it is quite close to the main road, so highly recommend ear plugs or headphones. Service was friendly and efficient. Strictly a one-night stay kind of hotel. The room was extremely small and poorly laid out. However, it did have a very large bed. The staff were pleasant. We were on the ground floor, so there was a lot of noise and foot traffic. And naturally, don't expect to sleep in, as the housekeepers start their work very early. The deco is absolutely stunning. Pretty, can't deny this. Kids were happy to see the hello kitty theme, small size couch for the kids to sit. Downside is the amenities for this accommodation is poorly maintained. Front door can't close, owner ask us to just lock gate don't close front door or door will not able to be open from inside (?!), balcony look dangerous for children, so many sure not to let any kids go there. We lived in a fresh clean apartment with 3 bedrooms. Each one has air conditioning, as well as in the kitchen-living room. The apartment also has 2 bathrooms.
We checked in without any problems, the owner is very responsive.
The condominium comes with a parking space. Very convenient.
The condominium has its own pool with very comfortable water for children. Ours did not get out of there for 2 hours.
Location. 20 minutes by rented car to Sepilok. 50 minutes to Labuk bay. With a rented car, the location is excellent. I don’t know if it would be better to travel in another way.From€65

What I liked a lot: Well situated to visit main attractions in Sepilok: Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre/Sunbear centre/Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC), free shuttle bus to the main attractions (09h-14h-16) which was really great. Also offer tours at reasonable prices e.g. Mangroves & Firefly Cruise (recommended). Free water dispenser.
To note: rooms are very basic (there is airco), we had some ants in the room, bathroom is outside. Breakfast was limited and minimal.
When we were there internet was not functional, luckily we had taken local simcard before with unlimited data so for us, this was not a big issue. Before coming to the hotel, I had sent a mail to have info about tours they offered, but never received a reply therefore I had booked tours with an agency which in the end was more expensive then when I would have it booked with Paganakan Dii Tropical Retreat. Possible to book tours on the spot (no need to reserve before coming) but I did not know this in advance.From€8

Nice appartment on the ninth floor of a flatbuilding in a condominium. The appartment is nicely decorated and offers room for many guests.. we couldn't find the pool, so we didn't use that.
When we got to the appartement there was nobody there, we sent a message and somebody came. after a very long waiting time. Then they could open the door so after an hour and a half we were able to get in. The next morning before waking up they already send a message about the check out. This stressed us. We were initially a little worried about booking this hotel as it had no reviews and wasn’t even open! However, we definitely made the right decision. The hotel is brand new. It was very clean and had all the luxuries of a 5* hotel. The pool area is beautiful - the photos don’t do it justice at all and it has stunning views over the harbour. The staff are clearly still learning how everything works but super friendly and happy to do anything they can to make your stay more enjoyable. Clearly the nicest hotel in Sandakan.

A superb historic hotel, the room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was buffet style and had different choices each day we were there. The afternoon cake and drinks were both great value and excellent quality. This was the best hotel we stayed at during our driving tour of Sabah. Highly recommend the Sabah Hotel if you are going to Sandankan.

Easy stay close to airport. We had a few days of intense travel and little sleep so we booked 1 night here to get a decent rest and our wish was granted! Super clean and comfortable with good AC, wifi and hot shower. Breakfast was good too in morning. Would recommend!

This hotel has an old-school charm and a fantastic location for exploring Sandakan in depth. The mosque next door marks the beginning of the Heritage Trail, and you might even spot monitor lizards along the roadside. Walking the Heritage Trail was an amazing experience!

Everything is ok about this hotel. Only that is not easy to find halal restaurant around it. 0ther than that it strange to encounter creepy moment. Felt like someone is watching vou in the room. Everyday ww had a bad dream about war here at the hotel. What an experience

We were here for one night before beginning an eco tour. Hotel is centrally located and close to some shops and restaurants, as well as the water front. The room amenities were basic, but in fine condition. It was a bit dusty in the room but otherwise clean. Soundproofing was not great, and it is quite close to the main road, so highly recommend ear plugs or headphones. Service was friendly and efficient. For the price and location, it's good for a night before or after a trip.

It is an affordable option and very convenient for 3 people sharing one room, which is hard to find. The air conditioning works well despite the hotel being quite old. However, ventilation needs improvemenI, the window couldn’t be opened, the toilet had poor ventilation with some smell, and the water pressure was weak. Overall, a budget-friendly stay, but maintenance could be better.

However, the most unsatisfied is the room with mold on ceiling and it caused me sick on the next day.
The rooms smells musty. Not recommend to stay for those with sensitive allergic rhinitis.

The breakfast selection had just enough variety to enjoy without being overwhelming. The room and bathroom were spacious and comfortable, which added to a relaxing stay.
One downside was that the tiles in the bath area could have been cleaner, and this is an area that could be improved. Aside from that, it was an enjoyable stay.
