The room was decent, mostly because I'd prepared myself for hotels in this town not being great. It had hot water, AC, and toiletries. It's not as accommodating as hotels back home; early check-in wasn't an option. I bought some flip-flops locally that gave me blisters, and they didn't have any bandaids. Friends visiting should definitely bring their own comfy slippers. After island hopping, I wanted to shower but couldn't get a day-use room. There's a public restroom next to the lobby on the first floor, but you can't shower there – apparently, there's a 200 MYR fine if you do. Guess it just shows how competitive the hotel industry is back home!

My stay at 'Fairy Tale Wonderland Resort' in Semporna completely exceeded my expectations. Let's start with transportation: the hotel offers a shuttle service that picks you up directly from the airport, which was a huge convenience. The driver was incredibly friendly and even gave us tips on where to exchange money and reliable dive shops. The accommodation was fantastic. The room had wooden floors and a high ceiling, and it felt clean and dry. The bed was super soft, and the pillows weren't flat at all. The big sea turtle plushie on the bed was absolutely adorable. Both the fan and air conditioning were quiet at night, ensuring a very restful sleep. The courtyard felt like a small garden with coconut trees, flower walls, and colorful signs. It was incredibly relaxing to just sit on the woven hanging chair and zone out; every photo I took turned out beautifully. The food deserves a special mention. For dinner, we ordered steamed crab, mantis shrimp, soy-sauce steamed fish, and a plate of water spinach. The freshness was undeniable, and the cooking was perfectly executed, bringing out the natural flavors of the seafood without being overly salty or greasy. Overall, the hotel's attention to detail in service was excellent: convenient transfers, clean and comfortable rooms, and high-quality food. If you're looking for a relaxing holiday in Semporna, I highly recommend staying here.

Environment: The room was small and quite old, like a small guesthouse in a third-tier city in China. You could see the sea from the room, though. The bathroom was tiny. Service: The front desk was very slow when checking us in; people who arrived after us were already done. It said they offered Chinese service, but it was just a tiny bit, really just a tiny bit. However, they did provide breakfast vouchers which you could redeem on the first floor. Hygiene: When we pulled back the covers, the bedding was wrinkled. We initially thought it hadn't been changed, but even after they supposedly changed it, it was still wrinkled. Maybe that's just how it is.

Five-star review, highly recommend Barracuda Den! Semporna is notorious for its dirty and messy accommodations, but Barracuda Den has no real competition at its price point. The location is excellent, just 700 meters from Hai Feng Pier, making it a 10-minute walk to catch boats for island hopping. Right outside the door, you'll find all sorts of food options, which is super convenient. It's safe, with card access required for entry and exit. It's clean; I even saw staff doing a thorough cleaning. Every time you close the door to the guesthouse, you can completely disconnect yourself from the chaotic and dirty environment outside. The guesthouse offers free toast, instant noodles, and cooking utensils. As a fan of simple meals, it was great to have fried eggs, toasted bread, and hot tea every day! The washing machine is free to use, which is a big plus since many accommodations in Semporna charge for laundry. The staff are very friendly, and the seafood restaurant they recommended next door was also very affordable. Absolutely no complaints!

We arrived at the hotel around 12 PM, initially planning to just leave our luggage. To our pleasant surprise, the front desk staff had an available room and let us check in immediately, which was very thoughtful and accommodating. We understand that accommodations in smaller towns often have limited facilities, so we went in with realistic expectations. The room was reasonably clean, and we had brought our own disposable bed sheets and toiletries just in case. The location was also quite good, making it easy to get around.

We were a family of 3 and it was very suitable for us. They helped to store our luggage. The hotel is not very clean, but that's the condition in Semporna. There is a refrigerator. This is a homestay. You can cook. There is a washing machine. You can wash clothes after going out to sea. The little sister at the front desk is very good and helped. We cooked every day, but we had to clean up by ourselves. The boss is also nice. He invited me to eat in, but I was embarrassed because there were so many people.

At first glance, I feel that the homestay is not very good, but after staying, it feels great, very warm, and very warm. It is a caring homestay with a clean and quiet environment. There is no shortage of restaurants around. The yard is breezy during the day and the flowers are scented at night. Behind the center of the sea, I feel that the tropical rain forest is the right choice. The handsome and handsome manager speaks Cantonese. The hotel also has two fixed-point vehicles to pick up and drop off to the town center. Breakfast is different for three days. The free afternoon tea is simple, but delicious. The room Not big and clean. The first time I went to Semporna, I only booked a room. It turns out that the tropical rain forest can also be booked for a day trip to island hopping. Compared with the Internet, the site will be similar to the online booking. So I booked three islands for a day. I thought it was with other people. After joining the group, we found that it was a group of 4 of us, and three of us served us. Among them, diving guides and professional underwater photography of the thin brother Big Fei from the fat world, regardless of snorkeling and snorkeling, all followed to help take pictures, and the little black brother pulled it. The lifebuoy is always taken to watch the underwater world, and the service is extremely considerate. The next day, I reported the deep diving experience to the child. Fortunately, I haven't booked an island hopping tour online before. When booking on the spot, Brother Dafei will patiently explain to us how to play. Summarizing the tropical rain forest, I booked a homestay for two more days.

I read a lot of Semporna travel guides that said the hotels in town are pretty much like guesthouses in China, but our actual experience was much better than expected. The hotel is very close to the pier and there are plenty of food options nearby. Although the facilities aren't brand new, it's very clean. We booked a quad room that had two bathrooms, which was great after island hopping – no need to queue for the shower! The front desk staff were also very friendly and helpful during check-in. Good reviews. It's a rare opportunity to go with my parents. It's my first time to Malaysia and I don't have much experience. I arrived early in the morning and although it's not time to check in, the boss immediately arranged for us to check in and personally took us to the town. This place basically covers all the activities of island tours. For a novice like me, this is the right choice. Also, the town is really small and the environment is a bit dirty and messy. I should book all the rooms in a homestay. The environment is beautiful and the atmosphere is leisurely. I will book this place again next time. Also, they also provide seafood processing here. The experience at Semporna Sky Water Villas exceeded all expectations! My friend and I stayed in the Starlight Villa for two days, and it was truly beyond what we imagined. As soon as we arrived on the island, we were stunned by the scenery: the crystal-clear glass-like sea shimmered with various shades of blue and green under the sun. The wooden boardwalk, flanked by lush greenery, blended beautifully with the seascape – every photo we took looked like a postcard. The view from the Starlight Villa was simply incredible, with our balcony directly facing the ocean. In the evenings, we watched the orange and pink sunset paint the sea like a masterpiece, and at night, we could lie on the terrace and gaze at the Milky Way and countless stars. It was so romantic, we were speechless. The room facilities were clean and thoughtful; the wooden floors and furniture had a subtle oceanic scent, and both the shower water temperature and bedding comfort were perfect. The staff's service was truly top-notch, from their warm welcome upon arrival to actively recommending local specialties during meals, and even thoughtfully reminding us of the best time to catch the sunset. Every detail reflected their warmth. Whether it was a morning stroll on the boardwalk listening to the waves or relaxing on the terrace in the afternoon breeze, it allowed us to completely unwind. We stayed in new rooms at the back of the resort which were very nice and practically new. There real downside of the new rooms is that the new pool in that area has no filtered water entering so the water is stagnant and a green colour - to be avoided. The water in the older pool at the front of the complex looked fine although there was no filter that was apparent to our eyes. The complex is slightly out of town but that was a positive in our view as Semporna Italy was not very appealing. A major plus was the on-site laundry which guests can use. The resort is slightly outof town but that was a positive in our view as downtown is not particularly attractive.

I'm going to write a short essay. My writing isn't great, so please be patient and read through it. I originally chose this place for the cheapness and convenience, and my English is poor. Since the landlord is Chinese, communication is easy. Objectively speaking, if you want a superb room, service, and cleanliness, then choose a star-rated hotel, even a five-star one. I have a bad temper and am skeptical of all hotel bedding. I always bring my own bedding when I go out, but now disposable bedding is so convenient. When I go out to play, I'm not just going to hang out in a hotel, so a clean bathroom is enough for me. After all, I only go back at night to take a shower and sleep (I bring my own bedding). But for this trip, choosing this B&B was a wise decision. I misremembered the time of my flight from Tawau to Shanghai (18:5 We had mistakenly recorded our flight to Shanghai after connecting in Kota Kinabalu at 21:45. Three hours before takeoff (3:50 PM), we were still enjoying ourselves on Mabul Island, taking photos and having fun. When we realized what had happened, we were utterly terrified. We quickly contacted the host to let them know and ask for advice. We then braved traffic and drove all the way to the guesthouse to pick up our luggage. The host had already brought our luggage outside. As we loaded our luggage and headed to the airport, the host, worried we'd miss our flight, instructed us on WeChat how to check in and download our boarding passes via mobile. Unfortunately, in our panic, we couldn't find where to download our boarding passes on our phone. The host then asked me to check my email for boarding passes, but there was no place to download them, except on the itinerary. I sent the host the itinerary in the email, and when I saw the Grab app showed our arrival time at the airport at 6:51 PM, I was about to give up. But I refused to let the driver turn around. After a while, the host actually downloaded our boarding passes and sent them to me! The host downloaded our boarding passes and sent them to me on WeChat. I was so touched! Hope suddenly returned! It was already 6:49 PM when we arrived at the airport. With trepidation, we rushed in, only to find that check-in and baggage check-in had already closed. However, since we had boarding passes, the staff allowed my friend to swap our large suitcase for a smaller one and board the plane directly (the previous flight was eight minutes late). I really don't know what to say. Without the host's help downloading our boarding passes, we'd have been completely ruined on our entire trip back to Shanghai. I have to say: How lucky are you to have a B&B owner who genuinely supports you when you're away from home? You can't go wrong choosing this B&B when you're in Semporna! With a B&B owner like him, you can be completely confident. I'd like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the host again! (I never review anything except for requests from hotels.) These are all from the bottom of my heart! Thank you, host! I'll definitely stay at your place again if I go back!

An excellent stay! Service: The service was absolutely fantastic. It was my friend's birthday on the day we checked in, and I casually asked the owner if they had any cake. To our surprise, that evening we received a homemade cake from the hotel restaurant! They even played 'Happy Birthday' music, and the owner treated us to special cocktails and desserts. And the cake was on the house! Truly, a huge thank you to them! The hotel's restaurant, in my opinion, is incredibly good. My friend and I stayed for two nights and ordered a ton of dishes every evening. The menu offers a great variety, and you can't go wrong with anything – we didn't have a single bad dish. Around 7 PM, you can ask the front desk to have a staff member guide you to see fireflies. P.S. Seeing lots of fireflies depends on luck. We were quite lucky that day and saw many. The staff even helped us catch some and placed them on our hands. There's also a parrot on the hotel's pathway that speaks three languages, which was really entertaining.

The front desk staff were very friendly and spoke good English. The room was quite small and basic. The balcony faced directly onto another room, so privacy was an issue when opening the door. Facilities were decent, and there was hot water for showering. There was no soundproofing, so it was quite noisy. The cleanliness was subpar and definitely needs improvement; I only felt comfortable using my own disposable bedding. I'm unsure if other overwater bungalows here have the same issue. The owner's wife was helpful with bargaining for seafood, but the cooking fee was quite expensive. The taste, however, was good. The restaurant had a nice ambiance, especially in the evenings. However, both lunch and breakfast were very basic. Breakfast was quite oily and lacked fruit. Snorkeling was 100 MYR for only half an hour, which felt like poor value for money. The pricing for activities could be much more transparent. It would be great if they clearly listed all activity costs at the front desk. I had specifically informed the owner's wife that I wanted to go snorkeling, but when I came out, I was told the boat had just left. They neither provided an exact departure time nor called us, which was quite frustrating. You couldn't directly access the sea from the room; you had to go down near the restaurant. At high tide, it was quite deep, around 2 meters. We saw starfish, and it's rumored that sea turtles appear at night, though we didn't see any. There was only one return boat trip per day. If you wanted to travel at other times, you had to charter a boat for 500 MYR. Compared to other overwater bungalows, this place is relatively cheaper. Overall, I'd say it's just about acceptable, depending on individual preferences. Personally, next time I would opt for a more expensive option with better facilities.

The hotel's primary focus on Chinese guests is evident in its services and amenities, which are predominantly in Chinese. This should be clearly stated in the hotel description on the booking websites. The villa itself is well-maintained, spacious, and equipped with everything you need. The beds and linens are of good quality, the toiletries are nice, and the bathroom is modern and clean. The air conditioner is quiet, but the external unit is quite noisy. The exterior and garden are lovely and clean. The breakfast buffet was subpar, with cold food and coffee that required guests to microwave (completely in Chinese) it themselves, which was also a major inconvenience. Yet, the variety and quality of food was good and tasty. The staff seemed indifferent to the lack of coffee and food, and the lady who came to ”check” on us only brought coffee when we asked. Overall, our stay was satisfactory, but this place definitely needs to improve its hospitality and guest service. Given the above this place is too overpriced.

This is such a relaxing island, perfect for a vacation! 🌴 We went during the rainy season, which is considered off-peak, so there weren't many people. Every day at noon, there's a boat to pick up and drop off guests. We stayed for three days, and compared to peak season, it felt like there were never more than 20 guests in total. It's incredibly suitable for families with children, with shallow beaches, 🏖️ turtles, lush greenery, and an exceptionally beautiful natural environment! There are three hotels on the island, and Dragon Pearl seems to have the best facilities. They offer water villas, beach villas, and garden villas. The rooms are spaced appropriately, so you won't be bothered by neighbors. The beach villas have loungers on the porch and under the coconut trees in front, as well as hammocks, giving it a private beach feel. All rooms are equipped with life jackets 🦺, and upon arrival, there are clear signs in both Chinese and English advising guests to always wear a life jacket when in the water and to avoid swimming after 6 PM. The beach is large, the shallow water area is extensive, and the water is incredibly clear – like jelly! You can see the bottom even in two to three meters of water, making it perfect for snorkeling. Every day, island-hopping boats come to snorkel near the pier, where there's a clownfish nest. You can spot turtles daily from the pier, and the island even has a dedicated turtle hatching program, with occasional lectures and release events for baby turtles. The front desk and dive center can also arrange activities like scuba diving 🤿 and snorkeling. This was my first time trying scuba diving here, and because there were so few guests on the island, I got one-on-one instruction from the coach. I saw two turtles up close, truly within arm's reach! I even swam alongside a turtle during the ascent – incredibly lucky! For snorkeling, a dedicated staff member accompanied us with a swim ring 🛟, actively searching for turtles throughout the sea. The service for these small, boutique groups was fantastic! The island's front desk has Chinese-speaking staff, and while the dive center coaches speak English, you can always understand them through gestures and simple explanations. The reception area has a restaurant and a small shop, so the facilities are quite complete and convenient. Perhaps because it was the off-season and there were so few people, the meal options were a bit simple, but the food was delicious and definitely plentiful enough to fill you up. Finally, regarding the season, the rainy season wasn't bad at all. It didn't rain every day. We stayed for four full days, and it rained twice. The first time was at noon, a heavy downpour, but it was a thunderstorm that passed quickly and didn't disrupt our afternoon island-hopping and snorkeling. The second time was on the day we left; the rain was quite heavy, starting around 4 or 5 AM with loud pitter-patter sounds and thunder and lightning ⛈️ that you could hear from inside the room. It rained on and off for most of the morning. The temperature dropped a bit, but it was actually quite comfortable without the scorching sun. The waves were a bit stronger than usual, but I have to commend Dragon Pearl Hotel's location; as we walked along the beach, we could clearly see that the wind and waves calmed down significantly in front of the hotel. Even with the rain, the island-hopping boats for snorkeling kept coming. It was an incredibly comfortable trip! It's definitely worth visiting and worth revisiting!

The host provided very clear and detailed instructions on how to access and use the house. Compared to the expensive hotels near the pier, which aren’t worth the high cost, this house offered a reasonable price and a much more homey feel. It’s a bit farther from the pier, but it’s easy to reach via Grab. The best part is that the house is located in a quiet community, making it a peaceful retreat.

We spent one night on the island after returning. The nice environment was a plus; we even saw squirrels. Breakfast was so-so, the facilities were okay, and the room was quite large, but the soundproofing was poor. Next door was a mother with two or three children, and they were very noisy. We could hear the children's alarm clock and the lights switching on and off before bedtime. The cleaning seemed neglected; the trash can in the bathroom hadn't been emptied when we entered the room. The location is rather remote, and it's difficult to hail a Grab taxi. We tried to hail one for 15 minutes around 10 AM to go to the airport, but couldn't get one, and finally had to pay extra for a six-seater.

Absolutely fantastic! The owner is Chinese, and the price is very reasonable. It's perfect for couples or friends traveling together! Plus, there's a daily shuttle service to and from the pier, which is super convenient. The owner is incredibly welcoming, and there are lots of cute cats and dogs running around the courtyard. I really loved this guesthouse! Definitely recommend staying here!! The only downside is that toiletries like toothbrushes and toothpaste aren't provided, so you need to bring your own. But honestly, I don't think it's a big deal.

Regarding the order for the Crystal House Resort Semporna (****************), we have the following unpleasant experiences, which are hereby reflected: My friends **** *** **** and ***** *** *** arrived at Semporna on the 18th. After going to the meeting place, they saw their names on the notice board and got on the shuttle bus. After the car left for a while, the staff checked the name. In their records, Chen's name was **** *** Ling, because the name was not completely correct, they drove back to the airport and put our friend down. At the airport, our multiple explanations were also invalid, and it was disturbed for half an hour. Finally my friend was looking for a car to go to the pier by himself. I asked the staff of the crystal house and they said it was an agent's fault and had nothing to do with them. In addition, they said that there was no free car transfer for the second day and night. It was also the agent who misled us. Even though things are over, I hope you review and seek improvement.

Absolutely fantastic! Manager Huang was incredibly kind. The two standout staff members were the 'little dark-skinned brothers' – one who took photos and another who handled the diving, along with the old captain. They were all exceptionally warm and attentive. The cleanliness was superb, and it was incredibly comfortable. This was, without a doubt, the most comfortable night of our entire trip. While the price was higher during Chinese New Year, the enthusiastic service from the staff mentioned above made it feel incredibly good value for money. The captain was also wonderful. The overall service was excellent, the environment was stunning, the water was crystal clear, and the nights were incredibly quiet, comfortable, and thoughtful. You don't even need a fancy seafood dinner here; experiencing this environment and the genuine hospitality is more than enough.

The room is quite spacious and very clean. Check-in is on the first floor. When you go upstairs to the second floor where the rooms are, you first change into slippers, then walk down a hallway to your room. On the first floor, in the morning, there are self-service options for breakfast like coffee, milk tea, bread, and jam. On the second-floor balcony, there's a sink for washing things and a washing machine. There's also a long open-air balcony where you can dry clothes after a trip to the sea; hangers and racks are provided, which is great. The location isn't too remote either; it's about a 15-minute walk to the pier. Do note that the front desk staff doesn't speak Chinese, so you'll need to communicate in English. Also, the rooms on the second floor have private bathrooms, but you have to take a somewhat steep staircase, which might not be ideal for guests with children or the elderly. The rooms on the first floor can be a bit noisy, and it seems they all have shared bathrooms.

Service: Enthusiastic. Environment: Central location in town with all amenities nearby, and well-equipped room facilities! Cleanliness: Clean and tidy. This is my second visit to Semporna, so I'm quite familiar with the hotels and their surroundings. While this hostel's private rooms might not offer the absolute best value for money, they are still quite good.

Environment: I highly recommend this hotel. The location is a huge advantage – right outside is the pier for diving and island hopping. After a day of island hopping, it's just a short 90-meter walk back to your room to shower and change, which is incredibly convenient for diving enthusiasts. Downstairs, there's a convenience store, supermarket, drink shops, seafood restaurants, and even a fish market. Everything you need for food, drinks, and entertainment is easily accessible. Cleanliness: The room was spotlessly clean and tidy, with all necessary amenities. The private balcony directly faces the beautiful sea. Sitting on the balcony enjoying the sea breeze and ocean views in your free time is a perfect experience.

I contacted the hotel via WhatsApp 3 days before check-in, and they replied very quickly. They even called me back, and the communication was very smooth. The boat departs from the jetty at 1:30 PM, but when we arrived at 12:30 PM, the boat was already waiting. Someone helped us with our luggage when we boarded. Later, we found out they weren't hotel staff, so we tipped each of them RM5. The hotel's check-out time is 10 AM, and the latest guests can leave by boat is 11 AM because the boat cannot sail after low tide. So, no late check-outs are possible. On the way there, it was high tide, and the boat sailed over shallow waters. The 'jelly sea' was absolutely stunning. My initial apprehension instantly turned into pure delight – it was so worth it! We were 6 adults and 3 children. We originally booked one triple fan room and one quintuple fan room. Because I didn't want a corner room, and the quintuple room was in the westernmost corner, and since there weren't many guests during the off-peak season (we practically had the place to ourselves, which was a pleasant surprise!), the hotel generously gave us an additional triple room and upgraded all our rooms to air-conditioned ones. Another great surprise! Actually, the sea breeze was strong, and opening the window with a fan was already very comfortable, so we didn't really need the air conditioning. In fact, after snorkeling, we found it too cold in the room, so we promptly turned off the AC. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations. The quintuple room was newer, while the two triple rooms were smaller and older. However, the sea view was so beautiful, and given the great value for money, these minor issues were acceptable. The hotel owner was also very accommodating and gave us keys to a few rooms, letting us choose which ones we wanted. Since the quintuple room was on the western side, the sunset views were spectacular. My friends even saw sea turtles twice from their room at night. After watching the sunrise, we walked to the easternmost part of the hotel. There's a bridge there that's perfect for photos, and we kept seeing sea turtles, which was such an amazing surprise! We saw about 7-8 sea turtles intermittently, and they were huge! It might have been the start of low tide, and they were all swimming towards the deep sea. This must be a common path for them, and it was the biggest highlight of our trip. The hotel has Wi-Fi and accepts TNG for payment. The round-trip boat ticket costs RM100, and children ride for free. Life jackets are RM5, and swimming rings are RM10 (no time limit). The hotel's snorkeling masks were broken and unavailable for rent, so it's best to bring your own. The sea has lots of corals, starfish, and fish, making it excellent for snorkeling. Bring extra bread to feed the fish. The hotel doesn't provide bottled water or hair dryers, but there's hot water and tea bags. Dinner was local Malay food, which might not suit everyone's palate, but we found it quite good, and the fish was cooked tenderly. The simple breakfast included delicious fried rice noodles. We also brought some chocolates and instant cereal/drink mixes to prepare with the hotel's hot water. There's also free karaoke and Lami mahjong, though they can only be used until 11 PM. The karaoke is a new facility, only 4 months old, and the sound system is excellent. The Lami mahjong set was brand new. In summary: Although the hotel is a bit old, the sea is incredibly beautiful, and we even saw sea turtles. For the price, it offers great value. Overall, I highly recommend it.

Everything about this place was great! The courtyard was clean and even had little cats. Communication in Chinese was seamless, and the owner was a really nice, young guy from mainland China. There's also a pool in the courtyard, which was lovely for an evening breeze. It's super close to the pier, just a few minutes' walk, so getting around was easy. The owner was incredibly helpful. The room had an electric mosquito repellent, and all the usual disposable toiletries were well-stocked. We even saw a group of people who thought they'd lost their phone, and the owner immediately helped them search for it, only for it to turn out it was in their car – it just goes to show how warm-hearted and positive the owner is, thumbs up! He also gave us tips on seafood prices to help us bargain and recommended some great restaurants for processing seafood. Honestly, it was a fantastic stay, and I'd definitely choose to stay here again if I come back.

The Lighthouse Hotel Semporna boasts an excellent location, directly facing the jetty for boat excursions. It's within walking distance of island hopping meeting points and seafood restaurants, making it incredibly convenient for getting around and finding food. Opened in 2023, the rooms are spacious and clean, with separate wet and dry areas in the bathroom. The rooftop pool offers sea views, and the overall environment is quiet and peaceful. The front desk service is thoughtful, and they support WeChat communication, offering great value for money. The only downsides are that the breakfast selection is simple and the facilities are quite basic. If you're looking for a luxurious experience, you might want to consider other options. However, it's perfect for travelers primarily focused on island hopping who prioritize convenient accommodation.
