I chose this hotel for a one-night stay before heading to the overwater bungalow the next day. Although the room facilities were a bit old, they were very clean. There's a convenience store right downstairs, and it's very close to the pier. The sea breeze was a bit loud at night, but the breakfast was excellent and plentiful.

The room was decent, mostly because I'd prepared myself for hotels in this town not being great. It had hot water, AC, and toiletries. It's not as accommodating as hotels back home; early check-in wasn't an option. I bought some flip-flops locally that gave me blisters, and they didn't have any bandaids. Friends visiting should definitely bring their own comfy slippers. After island hopping, I wanted to shower but couldn't get a day-use room. There's a public restroom next to the lobby on the first floor, but you can't shower there – apparently, there's a 200 MYR fine if you do. Guess it just shows how competitive the hotel industry is back home!

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. The location is beautiful, set in a jungle with lush greenery and flowers all around and it feels peaceful the moment you arrive. The staff were generally nice, especially the Chinese-speaking lady. The rooms are quite spacious, with two large double beds that were very comfortable, and relatively clean given the remote location. They also offer shuttle buses to and from town, though these are limited and require advance booking. On the downside, the remoteness creates some challenges. The shuttle requires early wake-ups and long waits as the day tours start later, and there isn’t much to do in town once you arrive. Prices at the resort are very high compared to town, and they charge extra when paying with Alipay or WeChat in Chinese yuan as instead of local currency they charge in Chinese yuan with elevated rates, which felt unfair. Also the room’s roof material made the rain extremely loud. During our stays,it rained all nights during, and even earplugs didn’t fully help with the sound. Breakfast was also limited and not great in quality. Overall, the hotel has a lovely setting and comfortable rooms, but advertising it as 5-star felt misleading. It’s more like a 3–3.5 star experience. Worth visiting if you want the location and nature, but be aware of the extra costs and limitations.

The room is quite spacious and very clean. Check-in is on the first floor. When you go upstairs to the second floor where the rooms are, you first change into slippers, then walk down a hallway to your room. On the first floor, in the morning, there are self-service options for breakfast like coffee, milk tea, bread, and jam. On the second-floor balcony, there's a sink for washing things and a washing machine. There's also a long open-air balcony where you can dry clothes after a trip to the sea; hangers and racks are provided, which is great. The location isn't too remote either; it's about a 15-minute walk to the pier. Do note that the front desk staff doesn't speak Chinese, so you'll need to communicate in English. Also, the rooms on the second floor have private bathrooms, but you have to take a somewhat steep staircase, which might not be ideal for guests with children or the elderly. The rooms on the first floor can be a bit noisy, and it seems they all have shared bathrooms.

A great transit hotel. But if you need to stay longer won't be a problem. Located at the center of Semporna commercial area. Lots of shops and restaurant nearby. It was clean, hygienic, and felt very safe. I could even do laundry and it would dry by the next day. I traveled alone for diving and overall, I think it's great value for money. There's also a communal bar area where you can cook your own noodles and eggs. Just a heads up, there are often kids at the entrance trying to sell things and offering to help – try to ignore them, as they'll keep asking you for money.

At first glance, I feel that the homestay is not very good, but after staying, it feels great, very warm, and very warm. It is a caring homestay with a clean and quiet environment. There is no shortage of restaurants around. The yard is breezy during the day and the flowers are scented at night. Behind the center of the sea, I feel that the tropical rain forest is the right choice. The handsome and handsome manager speaks Cantonese. The hotel also has two fixed-point vehicles to pick up and drop off to the town center. Breakfast is different for three days. The free afternoon tea is simple, but delicious. The room Not big and clean. The first time I went to Semporna, I only booked a room. It turns out that the tropical rain forest can also be booked for a day trip to island hopping. Compared with the Internet, the site will be similar to the online booking. So I booked three islands for a day. I thought it was with other people. After joining the group, we found that it was a group of 4 of us, and three of us served us. Among them, diving guides and professional underwater photography of the thin brother Big Fei from the fat world, regardless of snorkeling and snorkeling, all followed to help take pictures, and the little black brother pulled it. The lifebuoy is always taken to watch the underwater world, and the service is extremely considerate. The next day, I reported the deep diving experience to the child. Fortunately, I haven't booked an island hopping tour online before. When booking on the spot, Brother Dafei will patiently explain to us how to play. Summarizing the tropical rain forest, I booked a homestay for two more days.

I stayed at Sipadan Inn in a room with a queen-size bed, which was sufficient for two people to stay comfortably. The room space was quite limited, but it was still cozy and suitable for a short stay. The bathroom functioned well, and overall room service was acceptable. I would rate the facilities around 8/10, mainly because the staff were not very friendly, though still okay and professional. This hotel is suitable for travelers looking for a budget-friendly stay, especially for 3–4 days, as the price matches what is offered. There are plenty of food options around the area, and you can easily find souvenirs either below the hotel or nearby. Watsons is conveniently located right next to the hotel, which is very helpful. However, do be cautious around the sidewalks, as there are sometimes children asking for money. Overall, I was satisfied with my stay.

Good reviews. It's a rare opportunity to go with my parents. It's my first time to Malaysia and I don't have much experience. I arrived early in the morning and although it's not time to check in, the boss immediately arranged for us to check in and personally took us to the town. This place basically covers all the activities of island tours. For a novice like me, this is the right choice. Also, the town is really small and the environment is a bit dirty and messy. I should book all the rooms in a homestay. The environment is beautiful and the atmosphere is leisurely. I will book this place again next time. Also, they also provide seafood processing here. The price is very affordable. The seafood bought in the town is directly processed. The taste is very nice and it cures our Chinese stomach

It takes an hour by boat from the Dragon Inn Pier in Semporna to get to Mabul Island. The hotel you booked includes a round-trip ticket. You can get on the boat to this homestay by registering at Dragon Inn R2. This is a private homestay on Mabul Island. The cost-effectiveness is relatively high. One room can accommodate three adults. It is suitable for families with children. It is much more affordable than the Mabul Island Resort Hotel next to it. There are simple meals for breakfast and some free lunch at noon. We buy fresh seafood from the Bajau people on the sea every day and let the kitchen of the homestay process it. The seafood is super cheap and fresh. The processing fee is 15-20 Malaysian ringgit. It's still good. It's also good to use the money saved from staying in the resort to buy more seafood. If you want to go to the Mabul Island Resort next to it, you can enter for 50 Malaysian ringgits per person. It's right next door. It's quite comfortable to check in, take pictures, and swim. It's a good trip to save money with children.

I really appreciated the kindness, availability, and attentiveness of all the staff. The room is small, but since I'm alone, it's perfectly fine. It's very clean and well-maintained; the housekeeping staff comes every day, changes whatever you need, and restocks water, coffee, toilet paper, etc. The location is good, and the hotel itself is very quiet, but since it's made of containers, the insulation isn't great. You can hear music from the restaurants and the calls to prayer. The Wi-Fi and air conditioning work very well.

This overwater bungalow requires a boat transfer from Myding Lodge, which takes about 20-25 minutes. It's crucial to contact the hotel in advance to register for fixed boat transfer slots. Before my trip, I saw quite a few negative reviews online, so my expectations weren't high. I even double-checked the exact pick-up point with the hotel multiple times. However, upon arriving at the hotel, the stunning shallow waters and coral reefs along the boardwalk immediately dispelled my initial worries. The natural scenery here is truly exceptional. After a smooth check-in at the lobby, the staff informed us of the specific dining times for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner. We then proceeded to our room. Regarding the actual room experience: the interior tends to be stuffy, and the air conditioning unit is quite noisy. Earplugs are definitely needed for a peaceful night's sleep. The water pressure in the bathroom is low, though not as bad as some reviews claimed (like a mere trickle). However, the faucet couldn't be completely turned off at night, leading to a constant dripping sound that somewhat disturbed our rest. Of course, the room type also had its highlights. I booked the Deluxe room, which came with lounge chairs and a popular hammock net on the balcony, perfect for relaxing in the evening. However, the hammock net was surrounded by wooden boards and nails, making it feel a bit unsafe, so we didn't dare to use it for too long. The room also had a private ladder directly into the sea, which is fantastic for guests who love to swim. The hotel offers complimentary rental services. Snorkeling enthusiasts can borrow masks from the front desk, and kayaks are also available for free, making for an excellent water activity experience. The waters in front of the hotel lobby are rich in coral. The best time for snorkeling is between 3-4 PM daily during high tide, when you can see numerous fish and extensive coral formations, creating a breathtaking view. During our stay, we often encountered Bajau people in small boats selling seafood. I highly recommend bargaining boldly for the best price. After a successful negotiation, you can have the hotel kitchen prepare it. On our first night, the processing fee was 10 MYR per dish, but it increased to 15 MYR on the second night. The prepared dishes were decent and satisfactory for everyday meals. The hotel's own buffet quality was rather average, and dining options would be quite limited if you didn't purchase seafood elsewhere. Overall, the biggest advantage of this overwater bungalow is its excellent privacy. You can quietly await the sunrise in the morning and enjoy the beautiful sunset in the evening, completely undisturbed by others. It's perfectly suited for those seeking a peaceful getaway and a close connection with nature.

We stayed in new rooms at the back of the resort which were very nice and practically new. There real downside of the new rooms is that the new pool in that area has no filtered water entering so the water is stagnant and a green colour - to be avoided. The water in the older pool at the front of the complex looked fine although there was no filter that was apparent to our eyes. The complex is slightly out of town but that was a positive in our view as Semporna Italy was not very appealing. A major plus was the on-site laundry which guests can use. The resort is slightly outof town but that was a positive in our view as downtown is not particularly attractive.

A wonderful place! It's a guesthouse like somewhere in the Krasnodar region. The owner is Chinese. The two young girls at reception are amazing, caring, and speak excellent English. Upon arrival, they immediately set up my laundry and explained everything about the area, excursions, and shopping. I asked a lot of questions, expressed my interest, and the owner himself was welcoming, pouring me tea, bringing me fruit, and checking in to see if everything was okay. Semporna is a place mostly visited by Chinese; you rarely meet Europeans. But I recently visited China, and everything there is amazing and delightful for the people, their culture, etc., so this place appealed to me when choosing. I think it's a safe place for open-minded people. The goal is island excursions for diving, snorkeling, and photography. So, you either live on the island, which is boring, or you can live like this in the city, with excursions from 8 a.m. to 4 or 5 p.m., wandering around in the evening, and eating street food. Overall, I really enjoyed it!

Here are three pros of Amina Resort Water Bungalows on Mabul Island: First, the environment is absolutely beautiful, with jelly-colored seawater. There's also a world-class, super-large overwater resort next door that you can visit. Second, the proprietress manages the place strictly, and the service is incredibly attentive. Unlike most guesthouses, which are typically large houses with several rooms, Pineapple Resort feels more like a hotel. It consists of a dozen small, standalone wooden cottages nestled among palm trees. The management is also quite hotel-like, and while breakfast isn't extensive, it offers a good variety. Although the resort is about five kilometers from Semporna town, considering the town's general disarray (especially near the jetty with seafood vendors and Bajau beggars), which can easily spoil a good mood, it's better to stay a bit further out in a quiet resort. Pineapple Resort offers free shuttle buses to and from Semporna jetty from morning to midday and in the evening, making transportation very convenient. What's more, it provides a warmer experience than a star-rated hotel, giving me a home-away-from-home feeling. For foodies, if you're a good cook (the resort doesn't yet have a professional chef), Pineapple Resort is happy to provide a cooking area for seafood bought from the town market, which is incredibly convenient for those of us who love beautiful views and good food.

Our stay at the Sagittarius Water Bungalow was absolutely fantastic! From our butler Xiao Gu to all the staff on the water bungalows and even the owners, everyone was incredibly nice. The rooms are equipped with smart Xiaomi home devices, clean and tidy. Opening the curtains reveals the beautiful 'jellyfish sea,' and the scenery is simply captivating. The food at the water bungalows is also delicious; breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner are all included in the price. Airport transfers and boat rides to the island are also covered, making it excellent value for money! We stayed for five days and four nights and didn't want to leave. The atmosphere on the island is also great, with KTV and song requests every night – the owner and his wife sing really well, by the way! The water bungalows offer a lot of entertainment, including sea fishing, snorkeling, glass-bottom boat tours, and drone photography. The local staff (Xiao Hei) are also happy to help with photos 📸. You can even get your diving certification and go on island-hopping day trips, keeping you thoroughly entertained. We came to Semporna specifically to get our diving certification, and the water bungalow's own dive shop is highly recommended. The instructors are very responsible and dedicated. I'd like to thank Xiao Li and Instructor Mohd Rizal Baba Selleh. The prices are fair, and the teaching focuses on the safety and skills of the students, which is very reassuring. first is the floor, it is sticky, it is sticky in the room and also at the gathering or public area where we take our meals. Next is the issue with the toilet, the shower head is broken, it's leaking and the water is too strong and thin, it is hurting me when i try to bathe. Thirdly, the floor mat is dirty and too thin, it is not absorbing water as it should. Fourth, the floor also has a lot of dust and sand. Fifth, the hotel does not have enough electrical plug, we only have two plugs and it is on the most left of the bed, it is better if it is in the middle of both beds. Sixth, the air conditioner is too weak for a room with 3 people, it is hot even at night. Seventh, the music is too loud, i cannot even rest properly at night, you can prepare earplugs at least. Eighth, the gathering or public area is too hot because there is no fan, please prepare some ceiling fans so guests can dine properly. Ninth, should have a table for a big room at least. the floor is wide enough, but it is so dirty that we do not dare to sit on the floor to play games or cards, we also do not want to play games or cards at the gathering or public area because it is too hot and loud. Tenth, rubbish in the sea or hotel area, i saw a huge pile of rubbish such as bottled water, food container, plastic bag just floating in the sea in the resort. Here are some good things about the hotel, first, very nice scenery, the water is nice and clean in the morning. Secondly, the balcony area for each room is nice because we can look at the scenery while sitting on the chair and resting. Thirdly, the staff is very friendly and very responsible, they do their work fast, they carry our luggage, refill food fast, and are very nice. Fourthly, the overall atmosphere of the hotel is very comfortable. Fifth, the food is ok, breakfast is ok, it is not the best but it is edible, the dinner is the best, and the seafood is a very nice touch. Sixth, we can dry our wet cloth on the balcony too. Overall i give it a 2 out of 5 stars. The price of your hotel does not match the pros and cons of your hotel. I would not want to stay in the hotel another day if the problems still stay the same. Please do your best to improve better. This is my honest review as a Malaysian.

This used to be called Pom Pom Island Dragon Pearl Resort, but now it has a new name. It's a 45-minute speedboat ride from Semporna jetty. This is a private island, free from tour groups and local disturbances. There are very few people on the island, so it feels like you have the whole island to yourself for three days, with only the sound of the waves for company. The 'jellyfish sea' lives up to its reputation. The shallow waters are vast and incredibly clear, even at two to three meters deep, where you can easily see coral and schools of fish. Every photo you take looks like a wallpaper. Sea turtles and clownfish are frequent visitors. The beach is spacious, and there are sun loungers and hammocks right outside the beach bungalows, giving you a true private beach experience. This time we stayed in a beach bungalow. The facilities are indeed dated – wooden structure, and electricity relies on its own system, with two short power outages every day (something to consider if this bothers you). However, the cleaning was very thorough. The ant problem was quite prominent, so remember to put away all food. The room comes with life jackets, and upon arrival, guests are reminded to wear them when swimming and that swimming is prohibited after 6 PM. Safety warnings are visible everywhere. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are buffet-style, with very limited choices and ordinary taste. The only fruits available are watermelon and papaya, rotated daily. Perhaps because there are so few guests, the food replenishment is also slow. Don't go with high expectations; just consider it as a way to refuel. Tips: There's no WiFi on the island, and mobile signal is sporadic. The service is neither good nor bad, not particularly enthusiastic. The facilities are old, but the scenery and tranquility are its strong points. If you're looking for luxury and comfort, I'd advise against it.

We arrived close to 10 PM, and to our surprise, not only was the front desk waiting, but Ah Qiang, the head of housekeeping, and Ah Zhong, the restaurant chef, were also still up. Ah Qiang helped us with our luggage to the room and even turned on the hallway lights for us. Ah Zhong, late at night, fired up the stove and made us fried rice noodles as a late-night snack. On the third day, it was my sister's birthday, and after a day of fun, we returned to the hotel for dinner when we realized we should celebrate with a cake. It was already 7:30 PM and pitch black outside. Without a word, Ah Qiang drove me straight to a cake shop in town. We rushed in just before they closed and I managed to get the birthday cake I wanted. When everyone praised my thoughtfulness, I knew I should be thanking Ah Qiang! What's more, the hotel's chef, Ah Zhong from Foshan, is an extraordinary cook. From simple fried rice noodles and fried rice to more elaborate dishes like pipa shrimp sashimi, baked lobster, and stonefish gourd soup, every dish amazed us, and even the plating was meticulous. Every day, we bought seafood and enjoyed fantastic meals at the hotel restaurant. A big thank you to Ah Zhong and his kitchen team! The hotel's bathroom facilities were also excellent. The hotel provides seafood processing service, which costs RMB 20 per person, which is much cheaper than the processing fee of the restaurant in the town, and the processed taste is quite good. The breakfast is OK, although it cannot be compared with the buffet of a star hotel, but it is enough to eat

Absolutely worth it as close to a malaysian maldive as you can get. Service for food is on the slow side but when u are in a resort like this...what are u rushing for? Water is unfortunately filled with litter not their fault. Resort staff kept running to keep the water litter free but unfortunately it's all drifting from both the mainland area and some guests I guess 🙈. But still able to snorkel. Lots for fishes and a very clean and comfortable stay will definitely bring my girl friends here and make a girls trip out of it again

The host provided very clear and detailed instructions on how to access and use the house. Compared to the expensive hotels near the pier, which aren’t worth the high cost, this house offered a reasonable price and a much more homey feel. It’s a bit farther from the pier, but it’s easy to reach via Grab. The best part is that the house is located in a quiet community, making it a peaceful retreat.

We spent one night on the island after returning. The nice environment was a plus; we even saw squirrels. Breakfast was so-so, the facilities were okay, and the room was quite large, but the soundproofing was poor. Next door was a mother with two or three children, and they were very noisy. We could hear the children's alarm clock and the lights switching on and off before bedtime. The cleaning seemed neglected; the trash can in the bathroom hadn't been emptied when we entered the room. The location is rather remote, and it's difficult to hail a Grab taxi. We tried to hail one for 15 minutes around 10 AM to go to the airport, but couldn't get one, and finally had to pay extra for a six-seater.

Absolutely fantastic! The owner is Chinese, and the price is very reasonable. It's perfect for couples or friends traveling together! Plus, there's a daily shuttle service to and from the pier, which is super convenient. The owner is incredibly welcoming, and there are lots of cute cats and dogs running around the courtyard. I really loved this guesthouse! Definitely recommend staying here!! The only downside is that toiletries like toothbrushes and toothpaste aren't provided, so you need to bring your own. But honestly, I don't think it's a big deal.

This resort is considered quite good in Semporna in terms of environment. You can order dinner at the resort, and the food is delicious! After dinner, the owner, haha, sings karaoke. He's really good, like Semporna's Eason Chan 👍🏻 Whenever you need to go to the jetty or town, you can just message the resort on WeChat to arrange a car. They basically have one departing every half hour, which is super convenient. We hardly needed to take taxis; the resort handled all our transfers. For the airport, we took a taxi, which was also quite convenient. The resort has a pet mynah bird, haha, best employee! It says hi every time you pass by. All the resort staff are lovely and enthusiastic. Thanks for the hospitality! The overall greenery of the property is very comfortable. The only downside is the weak Wi-Fi signal. Hope they can improve that, and it would be even better.

Service: Enthusiastic. Environment: Central location in town with all amenities nearby, and well-equipped room facilities! Cleanliness: Clean and tidy. This is my second visit to Semporna, so I'm quite familiar with the hotels and their surroundings. While this hostel's private rooms might not offer the absolute best value for money, they are still quite good.

The environment is great, and everyone agreed it's the best hotel we've stayed in. I loved how convenient it was to get everywhere; the seafood market is just a four-minute walk away. I'd definitely want to stay here again in the future. Highly recommended!

I previously stayed at a terrible hotel, the Feilaiyou Seaview Hotel. There was an open-air refugee camp right below the 2nd-floor balcony, which was noisy all night. Chinese tourists, beware! It was a rubbish hotel; I stayed one night and then promptly checked out the next day. On my second day, I went on a boat trip, and three lovely ladies I was with recommended the Lanwan Seaview Hotel. It's right in front of the Haifeng pier, making it incredibly convenient for round trips to the sea. There are many supermarkets, Starbucks, bubble tea shops, and KFC nearby. The front desk staff were friendly and spoke good Mandarin. I quickly switched to this hotel, and it was safe and comfortable. The sea-view room wasn't noisy at all; it was exceptionally quiet. Breakfast was a bit average but filling enough. It was a pleasant surprise! Highly recommend it; I'll definitely stay here again next time!

I was really disappointed with this hotel experience. (The staff were very friendly, but the hotel facilities and soundproofing were poor.) The bathroom facilities were extremely basic, and the overall room amenities felt cheap and ordinary. Perhaps due to the materials used in the renovations, you could hear everything going on upstairs. This definitely needs improvement, especially considering it costs 700 RMB per night. 🫪

I arrived in Tawau at 3 PM, but the airport didn't allow overnight stays, so I had to head to Semporna three hours earlier. Coincidentally, the front desk staff that day didn't speak Chinese or English, so we communicated using a translation app. It went smoothly; they allowed us to rest in the lobby and use the public restrooms. They were really kind and friendly throughout. After daybreak, we left our luggage there and went island hopping. We checked in upon our return in the evening. The cleanliness was good, and I didn't find any mosquitoes. My only minor regret was not having a place to hang my washed clothes, but thankfully, summer clothes dry quickly. The location is great, with plenty of food and drink options downstairs, including restaurants and supermarkets. Overall, for the price, I was very satisfied. If I go back, I'd definitely consider staying here again. I forgot to take photos of the hotel, so I'll just use my island hopping pictures instead.

We were two girls traveling, and here's why we chose Yongda: It's very close to the pier, a 10-minute walk or a 2-minute drive, making it super convenient for island hopping. Plus, Yongda has a shuttle service, offering free pick-up and drop-off to the pier for excursions. They even drove us to the seafood market to haggle for prices, which was incredibly helpful. For a hotel in town, it's really quite good. And! Yongda was the only hotel in Malaysia that had three-pin sockets, meaning we didn't need a travel adapter! That was truly a lifesaver~ Pro tip: If you're going to the seafood market to bargain, go after 8:00 PM. If you go too early, it's crowded and you won't be able to get the prices down.

If I had a choice, I wouldn't stay here again. This is the first time I've encountered such a long wait for check-out, even with a deposit. Those who paid with credit cards also had to wait. Check-in and check-out were all mixed together... the management is just too chaotic. Plus, the gym had an extremely strong, pungent plastic smell, making it impossible to use. The downstairs restaurant was absolutely terrible. The only good thing was that the room's cleanliness wasn't bad, after all, it's a 5-star hotel, and its location is superb.

A great transit hotel. But if you need to stay longer won't be a problem. Located at the center of Semporna commercial area. Lots of shops and restaurant nearby. The jetty is also very near to this hotel. You won't have problems walking around the area. Choose the room with the view and you will never regret it.

I thought this hotel was great. Room would be a bit small for two but was great for one. Bed was comfy and good shower, everything was clean and location for island trips and restaurants was great. Nice staff recommended a really good value shared minivan taxi to an early morning flight for me saved me a lot of money. Semporna itself is a bit of a dump and crowded with Chinese tourists in February (Chinese new year). No laundry as far as I know
