When people talk about the Mandarin Oriental Wangfujing, Beijing, they often label it as a 'luxury hotel in the hutongs,' a 'hidden gem along the central axis,' or a 'masterpiece of the Qianmen regeneration project.' But if we set aside these external definitions and focus purely on the stay experience, the deepest impression it left on me can be summed up in two words: sheer comfort. This comfort doesn't stem from any single specific amenity, but rather from an overall feeling. Tucked away deep within Beijing's Qianmen hutongs, stepping through the gate from the bustling streets into the courtyard felt like entering a different dimension of time. Grey bricks, dark tiles, courtyard walls, and tree shadows – all elements were distinctly Beijing, yet without any forced emphasis on being 'Beijing.' The design didn't just stop at symbolism; instead, it re-organized the hutong courtyard lifestyle, truly allowing guests to live in a modern Beijing courtyard home. Beijing in the summer is particularly suited to this place. The afternoon sun dappled through the leaves onto the courtyard, with doves perched quietly on the branches. Sitting in the courtyard, watching the clouds drift slowly between the eaves and grey walls, you suddenly understand why old Beijingers always said, 'There must be a tree in the courtyard.' The tree not only provides shade but also marks the passage of time. The wind changes, the light changes, and the tree shadows change. Many mention its 'hidden location in the hutongs,' but what's truly worth experiencing isn't just the hidden aspect, but rather that elusive relationship with Beijing's urban culture. Outside the walls are the hustle and bustle of Qianmen, while inside, the unique sense of scale characteristic of courtyard living is preserved. Looking up, you see the sky; looking down, you see tree roots and青砖 (qingzhuan - traditional grey bricks); occasionally, birdsong can be heard. These seemingly ordinary details become precious in today's city. The service also left an excellent impression. It wasn't an overly enthusiastic kind of service, but rather a sincere and well-measured attentiveness. Help was always there when needed, yet they maintained an appropriate distance when not. Many high-end hotels can achieve professionalism, but it's not easy to make guests feel genuine care, and this place truly has that ability. Near check-out, I had a chat with the duty manager, Chloe. What began as a simple conversation unexpectedly became a memorable part of this stay. She meticulously detailed the design philosophy and spatial characteristics of the hotel's 42 rooms, patiently explaining everything from the layouts of different courtyards to the subtle differences between rooms. One could feel her genuine understanding and passion for this hotel, which in turn gave me a more complete appreciation for this hidden hutong gem. My special thanks also go to Chloe for her insights and hospitality. Upon leaving, I felt that the most precious aspect of this hotel wasn't its luxury, but rather how it has preserved the ambiance of courtyard living in a rapidly changing city like Beijing. If staying at a hotel is about experiencing a space, then the Mandarin Oriental Wangfujing is more about experiencing a Beijing way of life. It may not be for everyone, but for those willing to slow down and embrace the city, beauty can be found everywhere here.

Our stay was excellent. The room had a view of the Liangma River, and I assume every room offers a different angle of the river. The room was private and quiet, and impeccably clean. The turndown service, which included homemade drinks in a thermos, was a thoughtful touch. The breakfast selection was vast; we tried both Chinese and American options, and both were delicious. Our butler, Bitty, provided exceptional service from check-in, always responsive to our needs and checking in on our family daily. We received complimentary fruit and dessert upon arrival, and snacks were delivered to our room every evening. Overall, the service was incredibly attentive. We will definitely choose the Bulgari Hotel again on our next visit to Beijing.

This was my second stay at The Chedi. My last visit was before the floods, and it's still just as perfect. The customer service contacted me in advance and added me to a WeChat group. For my wife's birthday, they sent sparkling wine to the room, and when we ordered dinner at Rongfu Yan, they even included longevity noodles. My wife was very pleased, thank you! I heard that The Chedi ranks second among luxury wilderness hotels in China, with The Banyan Tree Lijiang being first. I've been to The Banyan Tree as well, and personally, I don't think it compares to The Chedi. I'll definitely be returning to The Chedi again.

This hotel offers a very comfortable stay. The room facilities are well-maintained, the breakfast is delicious, the bar serves amazing drinks, and the location is superb. More importantly, the service is exceptionally good. The hotel staff are very attentive to guests' requests and feedback, and you can tell they work hard to provide a comfortable, pleasant, and satisfying stay. Stena, Osgood, Lina, Yulia, Mavis, and housekeeping staff Fen Fen are all warm, friendly, and professional.

The EHE Hotel, formerly the Summer Palace Hotel, boasts a unique highlight: a private entrance directly to the Summer Palace. This allows guests to enjoy the tranquility of the gardens in the early morning, avoiding the crowds. The courtyard-style Chinese architecture is charming and antique, complemented by meticulous and attentive butler service. The breakfast selection is extensive, and amenities include a swimming pool and private cinema. However, due to the constraints of an older building, some guest room fixtures are a bit dated, with appliances and decor showing their age. The high room rates make it more suitable for guests who prioritize a unique garden ambiance over modern luxury hardware.

The location is superb, allowing for easy strolls along Wangfujing Street anytime. The modern hotel, adorned with a classically charming entrance, truly stands out. I especially loved the spacious walk-in closet in the room, perfect for families to store their luggage! The bathroom fixtures were also exactly to my taste. The hotel staff were all incredibly enthusiastic, making us feel very much at home despite traveling from afar. When we needed an iron for the room that evening, the housekeeping staff promptly delivered it, set it up, and ensured it was ready for our use – exceptionally efficient. Furthermore, the breakfast offered unique Beijing specialties, and I was particularly delighted by the presentation of the breakfast tea, served in an English silver tea set, adding a wonderful sense of ritual. If I hadn't been in a rush, I would have savored every moment! I will definitely stay here again next time!

From the moment the concierge opened the car door, it was clear that Rosewood invests heavily in its staff. The hotel entrance was well-staffed; one person opened the door, another handled luggage, and this level of service was consistent upon departure. Upon entering, the five or six-story high lobby was impressive. The front desk staff who checked us in was a gentleman wearing a yellow tie, and his conversation during the process was delightful and enthusiastic – a great first impression. Stepping into the room, it was evident that Rosewood maintains its rooms exceptionally well. Despite the hotel being open for many years, the carpet was still clean and tidy. The complimentary mineral water has been upgraded to Oravida in glass bottles, which, in my opinion, is a slight improvement over canned water. The room layout was comfortable and didn't feel cramped. Although the building is old, Rosewood's design philosophy is incredibly forward-thinking, making it a standout in today's Beijing hotel market. The bathroom wasn't huge but didn't feel cramped. The bathtub was excellent and spacious, and the water pressure was strong, filling it up quickly. All toilets have been replaced with Toto smart toilets. It's worth noting that the bathrobes are Frette. The mattress firmness and the skin-friendliness of the bedding were particularly to my liking. I believe the gym and swimming pool are the best among Beijing's luxury hotels. The gym space is arguably the largest among hotels of its caliber, with the most comprehensive facilities. The swimming pool is widely considered the most photogenic among Beijing's luxury hotels, with clear water and a three-to-four-story high ceiling that creates an incredibly comfortable atmosphere. Air circulation is excellent, with no dampness or chlorine smell. Compared to these highlights, breakfast was only satisfactory – not outstanding, but it met expectations. The beef noodles were quite good, though. Overall, among hotels in Beijing at a similar price point, Rosewood is arguably the best!

A special thanks to our butler, Claire, for her exceptional service throughout our stay! Claire was incredibly attentive to our subtle needs, anticipating many of our unspoken requests. Her communication was prompt, and she thought of every detail, making us feel genuinely cared for and valued, not just as tasks to be completed. The hotel experience overall was fantastic; the environment and amenities were all very satisfying. Our entire trip was hassle-free and comfortable, and the experience was truly great. Highly recommended!

Check-in was very efficient, and there was a dedicated staff member who escorted us to our room and introduced all the facilities. Due to construction noise downstairs, the hotel thoughtfully upgraded us to a suite with a Forbidden City view. Moreover, the semi-buffet breakfast offered a wide variety of choices and tasted great. All in all, I highly recommend it; the service is warm, and the environment is tranquil. I'll definitely choose to stay here again~~

A butler was waiting for us while we parked, showing exceptional service. Upon checking in at the lobby, we were offered complimentary snacks and drinks. To my delight, they upgraded our room for free, allowing for a better view of Yanqi Lake. The room table had fruit and wine, and the butler had even prepared aromatherapy. Surprisingly, the bathroom floor was also thoughtfully equipped with a non-slip mat. The butler also brought our luggage to our room, and to my surprise, given the slightly chilly temperature, they even brought down a warm coat from the car – incredibly considerate! We had initially mentioned needing to get our luggage, but only remembered when they went to retrieve it, and then they thoughtfully brought us the warm coat! We also participated in an afternoon cultural tour, which provided a deeper understanding of the hotel's design style and philosophy. The food was excellent, and the hotel facilities, cleanliness, and environment were superb! Not to mention the butler's service – it was exceptional! I highly recommend this hotel to families visiting Yanqi Lake. If we go again in the future, we will definitely choose Yanbai Mountain Villa again!
