"Pre-arrival: The hotel has contacted me prior to arrival to make the necessary arrangements implying this is a top notch property. Check-in: Process was smooth although the electronic key promoted on the app did not work and the pre-checkin information had to be repeated. Room: The rooms are old and lack a good coffee machine. Laundry: The laundry service did not deliver as requested. The did not follow the instructions from the card and I had to follow up with them to get it redone. Restaurant: The local restaurant looks good on the picture but reality is different. We had a reservation but when we arrived it was a total mess and had no space so we had to wait for the staff to clear a table. The menu selection was very limited and the wine list was even shorter. Breakfast: I went to the lobby for a cappuccino in the morning and got a lousy coffee that had no resemblance with a cappuccino. " "It’s actually a really nice hotel, I stayed on the sixth floor in a large modern and comfortable room. There was a business lounge to have a beer and do some work. What let this hotel down was the restaurant was closed because there was a concert at the Philharmonia. It was 8pm on a Monday evening with very heavy rain it wasn’t a great evening to go out. The bar menu was pitiful, schnitzel, a vegetarian option and beef. The beer I wanted was unavailable and the food poor. It is completely unacceptable for a hotel charging €300+ to have no restaurant open. There was no warning of this when we booked. I emailed the hotel but there was no response. I don’t think they care." "I gave this property ‚unfortunately‘ another chance as a lot of hotels still are closed. I would have expected that they provide superior service to get back into business but was disappointed. The items listed in the previous review are still not improved but also the internet was not working this time. I paid for premium internet but there was no difference between the paid and unpaid version. When I called the front desk for help I got a snotty unhelpful reply that I should have paid extra from the start. They did not have technical Know-how and simply said that the 10MB is the best one can get in this part of Europe? I can not recommend this property to anyone that has to do some work as the quality of internet is way below any acceptable level."

"I felt very well by the greeting about dinner, breakfast and lunch, both in terms of service and the quality of the food; continued my room was also very well equipped, everything very worthy, big TV, All right, the bed was also comfortable. " "Beautiful, quiet hotel with good kitchen and very friendly staff. Also the staff in the restaurant were very friendly and very attentive. Parking right in front of the house. Modern clean rooms and bathroom. We are happy to come back!!" "I really like it. Room was pretty big and clean. Breakfast was good as well, maybe a bit more selection of sweet pastry would have been better. I nice place to stay. There is also a restaurant that looked good."

"Unfortunately super disappointing. We spent in this sending hotel 2 nights including our wedding night. Had even ordered a expensive photographer and videographer tomorrow to take a picture and photograph with us. We had clearly set out with the hotel in the forefront which room we wish for it, orally and in writing. We were even in the room before and I showed photos of another Getting Ready in our wish room that I wanted for us. The hotel has shown us and confirmed this room in the local area, also in writing. You can imagine our horror when we arrive on the day of check-in afternoon and this room was just "paid" to people who spontaneously asked it on the same day. Without any conversation with us. It was even in the system that we reserved it, and then the lady at the reception probably held a telephone conversation with the booking manager who had to get fully out of the air and never have to say, that he has given us another room because we wanted a bathtub. We never wanted a bathtub or even just talked about it. My husband measures clearly over 2 meters, The max 1,40m long bathtub in one of the other rooms doesn't interest us at all. Absolutely difficult in addition to the organization. And then, the room was away, there was absolutely no room at the same level. Instead of the room with greater over 3 meters of ceiling height and to the garden exit, then a much smaller room with 2.50m deck height with windows went out to the industrial area. And in this room the Getting Ready Shooting took place with the expensively paid photographers and videographers. Whenever I see the photos I get angry because wedding dress including dragon now decorately hangs to the industrial area in front of a window and the ceiling is on the ground. I really find a uglyness for a hotel that is so high. And unfortunately, we had planned to have a address in the hotel next to the expensive Getting Ready where we will spend our wedding day every year in the next few years. Also that - linked to this disappointing memory - is not of course Option more. Really disappointing. The owners have never turned in and apologised or similar. Damage! Therefore zero of 5 stars." "Nice, small hotel in Wuppertal. We had a beautiful and tastefully furnished suite. Price is appropriate and everything is good. Right, the location is habitual, but the hotel itself: fine. But, and this has already been read below, especially in the post "X-sets", the receptionist, probably the daughter of the house, is really very obsessive. Even if you're Dad's favorite, please don't just break a conversation and ask attention or accept a telephone call in the joint conversation and call in peace and when you're friendly to see you will, wild incitingly pointed out that you are just being telephoned. A little more “we are happy that you are here” and less “we are the kings of Wuppertal” would make the house fully recommendable. And if the Pope now gives us “house ban” because of this criticism, we can live with it. However, more we would be happy if this beautiful house simply accepts this criticism. For otherwise everything is fine!" "Very good, the service is also very good, the environment is also very good, the Flip is also very good, the room is very large, and it feels very good, and will stay here later. We 'll introduce our friends later."

"I stayed here for business as our HQ is in Essen, unfortunately our usual hotel (the welcome) was sold out so looked online and found this Holiday in for around the same price £120 a night. We booked in advance on the company credit card as we normally do as we're not supposed to expense hotels. When we checked in the receptionist requested to see the card which the booking was completed on. I have stayed at Holiday Inn before and they never normally ask this, apparently it is a new policy. They cheekily said well if you can't show us the card I'm sure you can put it on your own personal cards and expense it. We were told that the company have to fill out a form, put the company stamp on it and fax it through to authorise spending on the company card in future. Now I was with our managing director yet they still refused to accept the card which we pre-paid on. It didn't say anywhere online when booking or in the subsequent emails this was the case and we showed the receptionist this. Anyway we had no choice but to pay on our own cards in the hope the company would reimburse us. I find this totally unacceptable. We got to the rooms and they were very run down and in need of some TLC. The divan bed and curtains looked like they were from the 70's or 80's and were all faded and had seen better days. We went down to the restaurant only to be told it's under refurbishment and they have setup some meeting rooms as the restaurant! It was bizarre they were playing football on the projector while people were eating their dinner! At least the food was good. The rooms were like a sauna with no air-con, I had both windows wide open however it was still boiling, mainly due to the radiator in the bathroom having its thermostat broken and being constantly on max! Due to this and the very noisy road (as the window had to be wide open) I had such a bad sleep. To add insult to injury, there wasn't even any free water provided in the room and an extortionate fee for 3.5 euros was charged per litre. The breakfast was the same as dinner, served in a meeting room. Very odd. I would not recommend this hotel at all, stay anywhere other than this please!" "Stayed here to attend a huge trade show close by in Düsseldorf. Although the hotel was a bit dated and constantly as warm as toast, it worked for me. The annual trade show premium of €209 per night was steep & about €129 over the top but all hotels in and around Düsseldorf make an absolute fortune due to the K-fair held there once every three years. Glad the company was footing the bill. Staff were all very professional, friendly and efficient so danke schön. Breakfast wasn’t anything special either but it filled a hole. Room was really warm but there was no way to regulate the heating in my 4th floor room other than open the two big windows, which then let in quite a bit of noise. I think this is why you are provided with 2 packs of free ear plugs alongside the two bars of free soap! Woke up the next morning with an inquisitive dragonfly on my nose, who must have been tempted in by the heat bellowing out of my window. I released him in my line my latter day zen Buddhist approach these days. " "It is very suitable for Chinese people to live in, especially the largest shopping mall and pedestrian street in Essen opposite the hotel. Anyway, our basic needs can be met, and the night view of the pedestrian street is beautiful.
In addition, the hotel is a 15-minute walk from the Central Railway Station, which is quite convenient."
