"The hotel is quite satisfactory, the location is close to the airport, it is very convenient to leave, it is very convenient to go on the high speed, unlike the old city, it is difficult to park a car, the room is much larger than the old city, and it is comfortable."

"Centrally located in the walled city of Lucca the main reception was quaint and homely. The Manager, Fabrizo was obliging and friendly, he looked after us so well. The Apperteiths (free) which came with our drinks were delicious and continually topped up. There was a beautiful outside seated area where we could enjoy evening drinks and the breakfast was great. Some of the rooms may not be in the main hotel as was ours but very close by. The rooms were all differently appointed, all were quirky. Loved staying here."
"We recently stayed here over a long weekend in Lucca. We were in the annex. I was very happy with our room, the shower, the staff, and the breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was a good size and the shower was hot with good water pressure. All staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The breakfast selections were very nice, and the one of the things I appreciated the most was that they make the cappuccino rather than having a sub-standard self-service machine. The location is perfect as it is in a relatively quiet part of town, and it is easy to walk into the center. Parking is convenient and the fee is reasonable."
"Omg this place is so cute! The rooms are comfy and perfect while not being over the top for no reason just to charge more. The floor is heated which was cool, i will say the toilet was very uncomfortable but thats just minor. The staff is super nice, very helpful. There's an adorable little patio out front for breakfast. Right in a great part of town to get everywhere, only a 7 minute walk from the train station!"

"Less than a half hour drive or so following our arrival at Pisa Airport, Le Sodole offers a beautiful, stunning location just outside the town of Pontedora, in the hills surrounded by vineyards and fields of sunflowers. Our room, named "Merlot" (all rooms are named after wine/grapes) comfortably catered for the five of us (myself, my wife, two daughters and mum), with a double bedroom downstairs, two single beds upstairs and pull-out double sofa bed in the living area. There was a further sofa bed in a small room upstairs, but being quite cramped (low headroom) and distant from the one bathroom, we opted not to use this. Our room included a small 'kitchenette' that included double hob, fridge (with small freezer box) microwave and coffee machine. I would recommend bringing a small travel kettle for making tea however (we boiled water on the hob). The room was fully air conditioned, and this was fine throughout our stay across all areas - be warned though - do not fiddle with the settings (or at least, ask the reception staff if you're not happy). Getting the coldest setting is not necessarily intuitive, and I messed things up for our first night! Entertainment-wise, there is a TV but only in the double bedroom - with no entertainment provided in the main living room area. Internet is provided but patchy/weak, so worth popping a small portable radio or speaker into your luggage to have a bit of music available in the evenings etc. Breakfast is provided in the restaurant area, offering a lovely selection of cereals, yogurt, croissants, rolls, pastries, boiled eggs, cheese, meats and cakes, with hot drinks and juices available. Check though - our was not included in the booking, so we paid 10 Euros per adult (5 for children) each day we ate here. The restaurant is also open for dinner every night, but run independently of the hotel. The hotel pool is lovely - it may not be heated, but during our stay (August) was more than hot enough, it's also very clean and tidy, and there are changing rooms and toilets right alongside to save going up and down to your room. Our two daughters spent hours playing in the pool, and just loved it! Le Sodole is not within easy walking distance of town or any shops - so a car is rather essential - but with a car the local town of Pontedera is very close. There are restaurants, supermarkets and shops in town. There is also a very convenient railway station in town - we took direct trains to Florence, Pisa and Viareggio to sightsee during our holiday, having parked each time fairly easily just outside the station. Overall we had a lovely, relaxing stay, with good food/breakfasts, fun days out, and just stunning views and settings to enjoy when at the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the Tuscany area of Italy!"
"Lovely location in middle of Tuscan hills between vineyards and sunflower fields, and with a nice view of Montecastello hilltop village. Good access to Pisa (30 mins drive) and Lucca (40 mins). Very nice and relaxed swimming pool which was never too busy as the resort’s scale is pleasant. Golf is limited to a driving range, so we didn’t bother. Decent sized apartment-style rooms with a little kitchen and working airco. Good restaurant which also invited the hotel guest for an estate wine tasting. Would be better if all four the estate wines could be served by the glass in the restaurant. Very nice staff, especially sr. Paulo. Only room cleaning service could be more consistent (they skipped us some day). Great for families with elementary school kids that wish to combine a bit of the nearby culture with plenty of swimming pool time. "
"Nice hotel, spacious rooms & appartements. Good swimmingpool and restaurant. Make sure to stop by a supermarket to fill up your minibar (recommanded by the property as well strangly enough) ; no food and/or beverage available during the day. "

"Stayed there this week and what a disappointment after reading the other reviews here. One word to start I’d that the place isn’t easy to find - we had a sat nav/GPS but I wouldn’t want to find it without. You have to drive down very narrow village streets before reaching it. Now the problems. First, we were checked in for one night and what did they give us (a fairly fit couple but both in our sixties)? A room on the second floor up two very long sets of ceramic tiled flights, when the hotel was almost empty. Obviously no lift/elevator and no help available with very heavy bags. Not good. Second The Room was ok but eccentric, as often happens in old Italian hotels but having to lean over when sitting on a lavatory because someone has placed a heated towel rail in the way? It couldn’t be placed more appropriately? Really? Thirdly the breakfast was VERY ordinary, with cold scrambled eggs and a polite notice to say that you can only have one cup of coffee (of various kinds) with breakfast. WHAT? After travelling all over the world - including the third world - I have NEVER been told I can only have one cup of coffee with breakfast but at a hotel charging us €135 for bed and breakfast? Completely outrageous. I really hope that the money they save from restricting cups of coffee makes up for the result of what I really hope comes across as a stinker of a review, which is not something I usually do but which I feel fully justified in posting. After reading the other reviews here I wondered if this was the same place but I’m afraid it was indeed. Maybe my standards are higher than others but this place was truly awful. If we’d been booked for more than one night we would have left after the first night. I mentioned these points to the lady at checkout and the result was a shrug and a muted “sorry”. Maybe the management changed after the other reviews. If so the new management should return to running a hardware store or abattoir or whatever they did before because hospitality is definitely not the business for them. If you’re looking to stay near Lucca, please do yourself a favour and look elsewhere. "
"Really nice place to stay for more than just a day. The people are nice, the nature is amazing, extraordinary view, really great swimming pool, rooms are very clean, extra services (like extra towels for swimming pool use etc)."
"Last stop on a weeks tour in April, so very quiet. It is very laid back. Understated, no restaurant but short walk to the village and pizza. All shut up by 9 but we did an honesty glass of wine and had a magical hour on the first floor outdoor terrace. Breakfast nice and easy. More guest house than hotel with all the casual easiness that implies. Would certainly go back when we have more time as the setting and building are beautiful and you are at Pisa airport in 30mins."
