We were as part of our wedding trip in Eastbourne, at Chatsworth Hotel. The location was directly at the sea/ pier. However, you were in a few minutes walk directly in the city center. The hotel itself has charm, the staff was always friendly and helpful. Very nice rooms. Specially the chair remains in mind. We would go back immediately, clear recommendation

Very good hotel, the bathroom is large, the room height is enough, the mattress is very comfortable, the sofa is a bit dirty, the key price is still very affordable, it may be that there are fewer people traveling in winter . did not eat breakfast, so there is no way to evaluate .

We stayed for 3 nights as a family with children under the age of 6 and had the best time. The hotel service is exceptional, every need was met. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the valet who helped us park the car and take our bags. They reserved our space for us with a board for the whole stay. The children received a kids backpack with hat, yo-yo and colouring in. We went straight down to the health club to the indoor pool. When we came out the reception said our room was now ready and collected the keys for us. Our room was a junior suite, it spotless and sizeable with drinks provided on ice and slippers for everyone. In the evening the children could order complimentary milk and cookies which they loved. The outdoor pool was heated and lovely when the sun was out, this was end of may/June. There also was a waiter serving drinks outside. The breakfast was amazing, great selection and the kids loved have every meal served with a cloche and countdown reveal. The added extras on the service make this a wonderful hotel. The positives far outweigh the negatives, I guess it could do with some new carpets and some new upholstery but the charm of the old building supersedes this and although old it was very clean. The bed mattress was ok, quite soft. The sofa bed wasn’t very comfortable but ok for young children. We will be back again!! Thank you

A very good looking building and position on the seafront. The overall experience was pretty much as expected from a classic Victorian seaside luxury hotel Including the fact that it is a little tired in some areas and that it's aspirations for up market service and nostalgic experience are well intentioned. I can't fault the staff wanting to and mostly doing the right thing at the right times. The place is clean and overall a nice place to be in. However thet try and maintain a silver service breakfast, which was a little underwhelming as the staff were very busy and ”naturally” then rather slow and forgetful as a result. The Garden restaurant was similar and sort of ok but underwhelming The food was adequate mostly although I returned a (expensive) tough, undercooked steak and had it removed from the bill - with no problems or argument at least. Our sea view room gave a beatuful vista - although it was a little tired - but very clean and well serviced (no USB chargers maybe an oversight by them though) They reserve parking which is well managed and effective - worth doing if you want to leave your car there for a longer period We didn't use the pools or shops, but they looked perfectly ok and were used by others We actually enjoyed the rather dated, but expected entertainment in the bar and were disappointed that the band were told to quit ealrier than expected as people in rooms above complained of the noise! - it was lounge music for goodness sake and not a rock band! It is not a cheap place and if returning to Eastbourne I would probably still consider it for the overall experience of convenience and intent. Our friends had a recently refurbed room which was very nice, I hope the hotel prospers (it's not cheap), and it was busy/full so no rerason to not contiunue a renovation agenda then ;)

Reception staff most unhelpful and not forthcoming with giving information. When booking I sent an email asking where we could eat with our dog that was booked in and paid for. I have no problem paying extra to take the dog but I do expect a reply, I didn't get one. When we checked in I asked again to be told that we could not have an evening meal as dogs were not allowed but we could have a light lunch menu or snack. Not what we wanted after travelling for 3.5 hours. We went somewhere else to eat. We asked about breakfast to be told we could eat in our bedroom or in the library. We opted for the library but it is very difficult and bad for the digestion to eat a hot breakfast on a lounge table, just the right height for the dog. We really did feel like outsiders. Dogs may be welcome but the owners are not. Must say the restaurant staff were lovely and I think they felt embarrassed about the whole thing. It would make it slightly better if they had a table the right height to eat.

This hotel takes you back in time to twenties/thirties, Beautiful building. Only a short walk away from the sea and the promenade. Staff polite, pleasant and attentive. Bedroom was lovely, had a TV, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, mini fridge and the bathroom had a lovely walk in shower. The view from our window was not great but can’t have everything. Breakfast was fabulous, help yourself to continental pastries, fruit, rolls, meat and cheese etc. then you can select from a menu a luscious full English made up as you like it. Definitely recommend as a place to stay in Eastbourne.
