I booked a Select Suite and noted my requests in the email. Although I didn't get a first-row room, 708 still offered a good view, and overall I was very satisfied. The environment is beautiful, and it's about 500 meters from the 'Lonely Tree'. I had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant, and the value for money was good; the breakfast scones are highly recommended! A few minor drawbacks: Firstly, the kitchen range hood was very poor; the smell lingered after frying steak. Secondly, it's a bit far from the town, about 2 kilometers, which takes 30-40 minutes to walk. Thirdly, heating primarily relied on electric heaters and air conditioning, making it a bit dry, and the bathroom was quite cold.

The hotel is around 2 km from the the center, what I love about the hotel was the facility, free mountain bikes, free laundry service, and there was hot pool which was very nice after a nice hike at Roy’s peak or ski. There is a small gym and sauna on site.

This place is like a hostel in a small town, about a 10-15 minute walk from where the Intercity bus drops you off. I arrived early and couldn't check in yet, but I was able to store my luggage. Be aware that there's no elevator to the second floor, so you'll need to carry your bags up yourself. Surprisingly, the room had an electric blanket! Though it wasn't very cold when I was there, so I didn't need it. There's no fridge in the room; if you need to chill drinks, you'll have to use the large fridge in the laundry room. There's a small restaurant next to the front desk. I remember seeing a lot of people chatting there in the evening, mostly Chinese travelers sharing tips. You can help yourself to coffee, hot cocoa, orange juice, etc., in the restaurant anytime. Breakfast was prepared by a lovely lady; her maple pancakes were absolutely delicious! She was also incredibly patient and helpful. I asked her about getting a taxi to Roy's Peak, and she even helped call one for me. She thoughtfully reminded us to note down the taxi's number and the hotel's address for the return trip. (Here's a side note: as the taxi approached Roy's Peak, the driver, a kind lady, thoughtfully asked if we knew which number to call for the return trip. After I confirmed I did, she patiently asked if my phone had a local SIM or if I was roaming. She then explained that if roaming, I'd need to dial the New Zealand country code first. She was truly wonderful!)

The hotel is run by a very kind and cheerful elderly lady. She owns a horse that roams freely in its enclosure. Every evening, she dresses the horse in a coat, which she removes in the morning – a charming touch. The entire hotel is situated on a manor filled with flowers, a scenic spot in itself. The manor comprises several simple yet cozy two-story townhouses. The facilities are excellent. We stayed two days and cooked one dinner; the tableware and kitchenware were complete – a wonderful experience. The hotel has two floors: the bedroom is on the second floor, and the living room, bathroom, and kitchen are on the first. Upon entering, the elderly lady turned on the heater, which was very effective, making the room very warm. Don't underestimate the heating power of this small heater; our laundry dried quickly when placed next to it. There was no prior email regarding check-in. Check-in before 9:30 PM was done by walking in to the office and checking in. The elderly lady warmly escorted us to our room and handed us the key; the whole process was smooth. One thing to note is that during our two-day stay, no housekeeping was done; perhaps that's just how it is. If you specifically request cleaning, I believe the landlord will arrange it. Overall, this was a great experience and very good value for money.

Extremely satisfied! The family room had one king bed and two twin beds, with two separate rooms so everyone could sleep comfortably without disturbing each other. There was a heater inside and air conditioning outside. The kitchen was fully equipped with utensils and dishwashing tools, so we could cook our own meals. The front desk offered midday service where we could borrow cooking oil and salt, which was perfect for a self-drive trip. The hotel itself felt like a small park – very quiet with nice views and easy to find. If I visit Wanaka again, I would definitely consider staying here. Full marks! A special thanks to the front desk lady who lent us oil and salt! We were a bit rushed at check-out time, and she even helped us extend our check-out by a little bit, haha. Absolutely wonderful!

The hotel is a converted old house, and the building itself is very beautiful. The downsides are that the building is indeed old, and the soundproofing is poor; footsteps are very noticeable if you stay on the first or second floor. The curtains clearly haven't been cleaned in a long time. Being on the street, it's affected by passing cars, although there aren't many cars at night. There's a microwave, kettle, and countertop, but no cooking utensils or stove. The ceiling is very high, and the light above the bed is a bit uncomfortable. There's a bathtub, which is very clean, but the toiletries smell bad. When I checked in, there was a leak above the toilet. It couldn't be repaired at the time, and the staff said they'd asked the Chinese owner if they could move me to another room at the owner's motel. I said it was too late and I really didn't want to change rooms, so they gave me 30 NZD as compensation. I suggest choosing carefully, as there are many old houses along the west coast…

I consulted other guests before I knew that the key needed to be picked up at another store at the entrance of the town. At that time, the road at the entrance of the peak was basically impassable. The room only has a microwave and a fridge; no induction or gas hob, and not many other appliances. The main door is more like a balcony door. Being on the ground floor was fine, but if you're on the second floor, you'll have to carry your luggage up the stairs. All the emails and written notices stated that check-out was at 4 PM, but upon arrival, we were told it was 5 PM. I heard that for after-hours check-in, the key would be in a safe near the front desk. The toiletries provided (hand soap, shampoo, and shower gel) are all honey-scented, which was an interesting experience. The front desk was manned by a kind grandma, and I think I saw a grandpa doing the cleaning.

The room was spacious and very clean, with a small kitchenette and a fridge. The bathroom was also quite large. We were on the ground floor, and outside there was a big yard with a table and chairs where we could sit, sunbathe, and have tea. It's not far from the city center, and the price, which was a little over 700 RMB, was super value for money. Just one thing: when I booked through Ctrip, the deposit deducted was a bit over 729 RMB, which converted to a little over 181 New Zealand Dollars. However, when I actually paid for the room with my credit card at the hotel, it was charged a bit over 185 NZD, which was about 3 NZD more. This extra charge might have been a service fee, so it's something to be aware of when booking in the future – paying with a credit card at the hotel might incur extra fees.

The accommodation in Alpine Motel is comfortable for 4 of us. However, the kitchen amenities are not complete. Adding on a colander, kitchen paper, aluminium foil would be helpful. No proper knives for cutting meats but when we asked from the manager, Bridgette, she immediately understood our requirements & passed 1 over. Thanks to Bridgette & Rosey who replaced 1 of our electric bed heater that was not working. Appreciate their quick response & excellent service. 👍 The location of this motel is very near to New World supermarket, Puzzling World, Wanaka Lake, Three Parks etc. highly recommended for all who visits Wanaka.

I have not seen the front desk, self-check-in, will provide keys and paper simple maps in the letterbox of the Reception, and I found the room after looking for it. It is a complete one-bedroom and one-living apartment, spacious living room, bedroom connected to a small garden, and even a cloakroom. It is very American and quiet, convenient parking, heating, kitchen and other facilities. And it is worth mentioning that the only hotel in the South Island that has stayed for two nights has a cleaning service in the middle!

This independent studio room within the RV park is quite spacious, and while the soundproofing isn't great, it offers excellent value for money! At first glance, the place seems lovely and inviting. However, on closer inspection, there are quite a few maintenance issues that need attention. Several lights weren’t working (only about 2 out of 5), the carpet wasn’t as clean as it initially appeared, and there was mould in the shower. There are also signs of wear such as plastering around the sink, and the hairdryer made an unhealthy noise when used. The toilet bolts were loose, which was concerning. The bathroom lacks an extractor fan, so it becomes very steamy. The shower head is quite small with low pressure. While there is an outdoor area, it doesn’t offer much privacy as the motel is right on the road. Parking is available on-site, which is a plus, but there are no laundry facilities. There is a makeshift kitchenette with a toaster, microwave, kettle, fridge, and basic cutlery and crockery. However, it’s not suitable for cooking proper meals, and the lack of a sink makes washing up or even filling the kettle inconvenient. On the positive side, the location is excellent—right next to a New World supermarket and very central. Overall, the place is reasonably clean, tidy, and comfortable, but it would benefit from some maintenance.

CNLonelySpaceExtremely satisfied! The family room had one king bed and two twin beds, with two separate rooms so everyone could sleep comfortably without disturbing each other. There was a heater inside and air conditioning outside. The kitchen was fully equipped with utensils and dishwashing tools, so we could cook our own meals. The front desk offered midday service where we could borrow cooking oil and salt, which was perfect for a self-drive trip. The hotel itself felt like a small park – very quiet with nice views and easy to find. If I visit Wanaka again, I would definitely consider staying here. Full marks! This place is like a hostel in a small town, about a 10-15 minute walk from where the Intercity bus drops you off. I arrived early and couldn't check in yet, but I was able to store my luggage. Be aware that there's no elevator to the second floor, so you'll need to carry your bags up yourself. Surprisingly, the room had an electric blanket! Though it wasn't very cold when I was there, so I didn't need it. There's no fridge in the room; if you need to chill drinks, you'll have to use the large fridge in the laundry room. There's a small restaurant next to the front desk. I remember seeing a lot of people chatting there in the evening, mostly Chinese travelers sharing tips. You can help yourself to coffee, hot cocoa, orange juice, etc., in the restaurant anytime. Breakfast was prepared by a lovely lady; her maple pancakes were absolutely delicious! She was also incredibly patient and helpful. I asked her about getting a taxi to Roy's Peak, and she even helped call one for me. She thoughtfully reminded us to note down the taxi's number and the hotel's address for the return trip. (Here's a side note: as the taxi approached Roy's Peak, the driver, a kind lady, thoughtfully asked if we knew which number to call for the return trip. After I confirmed I did, she patiently asked if my phone had a local SIM or if I was roaming. She then explained that if roaming, I'd need to dial the New Zealand country code first. She was truly wonderful!)

This is a highly recommended guesthouse/hotel. Check-in is self-service. It's a cozy villa with a small park outside the living room and a farm nearby. The scenery is beautiful. The guesthouse is clean and tidy, with a Nordic style, giving it a homey feel.

Overall, it was pretty good. The room was clean. The air conditioning was powerful, so it wasn't cold even in winter. The shower water was sometimes hot and cold. Parking was on the main street, but it was relatively easy to find a spot. We went skiing, leaving early and returning late, so we did a completely self check-in and check-out. There was a lovely handwritten welcome sign on the room door, which was a thoughtful touch.

This independent studio room within the RV park is quite spacious, and while the soundproofing isn't great, it offers excellent value for money! The kitchen is well-equipped with all the necessary utensils, including salt and pepper, so you can easily cook your own dinner. It has a private toilet and shower, but only soap is provided, so you'll need to bring your own toiletries. The bed is quite comfortable. We visited in mid-May, and it was very cold, but there was an electric heater and two electric blankets, although one of them wasn't working. There are very few power outlets. You can park your car right in front of the unit. There's a laundry room in another nearby area, costing 6 NZD per wash and 6 NZD for 60 minutes of drying. There's also a communal kitchen. The location is right in the city center, with many restaurants nearby. It's very close to Wanaka Tree and the lake, both within walking distance.

At first glance, the place seems lovely and inviting. However, on closer inspection, there are quite a few maintenance issues that need attention. Several lights weren’t working (only about 2 out of 5), the carpet wasn’t as clean as it initially appeared, and there was mould in the shower. There are also signs of wear such as plastering around the sink, and the hairdryer made an unhealthy noise when used. The toilet bolts were loose, which was concerning. The bathroom lacks an extractor fan, so it becomes very steamy. The shower head is quite small with low pressure. While there is an outdoor area, it doesn’t offer much privacy as the motel is right on the road. Parking is available on-site, which is a plus, but there are no laundry facilities. There is a makeshift kitchenette with a toaster, microwave, kettle, fridge, and basic cutlery and crockery. However, it’s not suitable for cooking proper meals, and the lack of a sink makes washing up or even filling the kettle inconvenient. On the positive side, the location is excellent—right next to a New World supermarket and very central. Overall, the place is reasonably clean, tidy, and comfortable, but it would benefit from some maintenance.
