Rina Hotel
3.8/552 Reviews
I’d stayed in the Rina apartments, next door to the hotel, almost 14 years ago now and knew just how handy the hotel was for the beaches and it’s proximity to the old down too - a pleasant seaside walk in the evening or a short scooter ride if like me you hired a lil Piaggo. Actually with that in mind, you can make good use of the hotel’s underground parking facility as not extra charge, but i digress. You’ll see some reviews moaning about expectations of a 4 star hotel, but do keep in mind Alghero isn’t Dubai so it’s never going to be razzle dazzle. You can expect however, a very warm welcome, especially convivial staff, spotless rooms cleaned daily with a full suits of new towels, a good international mix of guests, quiet by night, and a good choice at breakfast time too if you’re not sleeping off the last nights booze and miss it. Breakfast stops at 10am. I don’t do full board. There is way to much excellent food to be had around town to be tied to one place - be sure to try Refetorrio and their sister pizza restaurant, Bella Napoli on Piazza Civica and Regina Margarita at least once. The hotel is perfectly situated next to well stocked super market, there paddle tennis opposite and a host of beach clubs, bars and restaurants on your door step. If a hire car or scooter is not your thing there’s a great bus service to beaches further afield, mugoni beach is lovely with good grill/fast food and more formal dining (you can still rock up in beach wear) options too. The hotel can also call a cab but get a price first €20 to the airport seemed expensive. So, helpful, pleasant, cheery staff with great english. Clean, airy rooms. Handy for everything. Nice end of corridor balcony with good views for this without a balcony of their own to sit and enjoy a cool ale. I’d book again. A dopo, DSM
Alma di Alghero Hotel
4.2/576 Reviews
We have just checked out a day early from hotel Alma. I truly don’t mean this to be a scathing review, just a completely transparent one. I do also want to start by saying much as this hotel disappointed us, the staff were absolutely brilliant. Everyone we spoke to was helpful and friendly. This hotel looked amazing online so we booked. We paid extra for a Deluxe double with sea view. When we arrived, our initial impression was disappointing. The hotel is down a dark alley, and the bar in the reception area is tiny. We were informed there is no restaurant here (to be fair we should have checked online first, we just assumed there would be a restaurant on site). We got to the Room, the whole room smelled stale and the bedding absolutely stank of mildew and mould. It was dark and raining when we arrived so we thought perhaps we were being unfair and said we should give it another chance in the morning when it was bright. We stayed in room 401, which was on the same floor as the breakfast room. From 7am, we heard every guest in the hotel walk up and down for their breakfast. The room had a balcony but the door was jammed. We also didn’t realise the hotel faced a busy road so we heard noise from traffic all night. The decor in the room was tired and dated, the curtains in the room were covered in holes from general wear and tear. There was only a thin sheet on the bed, there was a duvet without a cover in the wardrobe but this smelled like it had not been washed from the previous guests. The hair dryer in the room is one of those ancient ones that kept overheating and only worked for 30 second intervals at a time. We tried to go for breakfast on 3 different occasions. We could not get a table the first 2 so had to keep going back to check for a table. When we did get a table the choice was very limited. Flies were landing over the uncovered food, dairy products were left sitting out unrefrigerated and the toaster didn’t work. The hot food options consisted of undercooked scrambled egg, dry bacon, baked beans and chopped up sausage. The bread that was out was stale. The hotel advertised an outdoor rooftop pool which looked amazing in Photos. In reality this pool was a massive let down. The pool itself is small and does not have a bar area - seriously? Why would a rooftop pool in a holiday destination not have a bar? Again, maybe our fault for not checking this first but it would be safe to assume there would be a bar. Also because of the storm the day before and the pool being uncovered the water was filthy and full of debris. The hotel had parking but charged €15 a day for the parking which is a bit steep. I understand this hotel may be ideal for some people, but this was our honest opinion. The hotel has so much potential but is just massively oversold and overpriced in our opinion. The photos are completely misleading and the property looks nothing like the photos. It is also around a 25 minute walk to Alghero old town. We wouldn’t Recomme
Hotel Calabona
4/534 Reviews
This hotel was very disappointing, it was advertised with a private beach including free sunbeds and umbrellas. These were all removed 1/10/23, the day we arrived when the hotel was full of guests. The beach was tiny and very dirty. The sand was full of sea****. When we complained about this we were told to put down a towel on this dirty area if we wished to lay out. The pool towels are charged 3 euro per towel which is not refundable and this is charged very time you request a fresh towel. This hotel is very shabby. From our 4th floor balcony we had a partial view of the sea but our main view was of a graffiti wall opposite the hotel & the sea. The bedroom was dark and no sunlight all day, the decoration and paintwork was very tired. This hotel badly needs to be refurbished. The staff were nice and helpful. We stayed 4 nights here and but could not stick it any longer and requested a move to another hotel which was wonderful. This hotel is located about 20 mins walking outside the old town. The hotel do provide a mini bus into the town in the afternoon and evening. There are no facilities around this hotel. Not a shop, bar or restaurant nearby. The restaurant in the hotel is very limited and expensive. It also doubles as the bar which was in the outside beside the pool. The hotel is located in a residential area overlooked by a derelict apartment block. Breakfast was located in a basement room which was dark and gloomy. The choice of food was very limited, nothing was kept hot. The fruit was poor which kept running out. The staff were nice. The photo shots of the hotel advertised were certainly paint bushed. No at all the same in reality. We would not return to this hotel ever and would not recommend it to others.
Alghero Vacanze Hotel

I stayed two nights.. I give 5 points positive review because I don't want to discredit anyone but I still want to clarify the Pro and the Contra and if they don't solve the present problems, I would not recommend the stay. Pro : Excellent location 5 minutes walk from the center Well furnished rooms for people who like the style Contra: Thermal water in the morning ( certainly because only use of solar panels) Rubber in the room we occupied by Substitute Cleaning not by 4 stars, between washing machine and wall ( non silicone ) were present hair and hair of other people Fruit very bad if you delay 30 minutes from opening the room you risk not to Find nothing and have to go elsewhere Personal very home, clothes are not suitable for a 4-star hotel Unconseiled to the great, sin because it has a great potential and despite all reviews with the same problems.. The answers of the structure show that the clients do not tell the truth... surely we know each other and we all agree on writing.. If I had read the reviews before booking, I would have chosen another hotel.. Peccato
Hotel Soleado
3.8/578 Reviews
The hotel Soleado is a little gem, not fancy or plush but very very pleasant. The staff are very pleasant and helpful! The location is ideal, on a sandy beach with a promenade. I'd love to see the sea**** removed though.... It's pushed into mounds ready for removal, hopefully! The old town is in easy walking range. It's charming cobbled narrow streets with eateries in every nook and cranny. The ramparts are stunning for a stroll, meal or coffee. The yellow tourist bus gives a good first look, well worth hopping on. Local buses nearby towns are available near the port also for a day out. We found renting an e-bike suited us ideally. There's a train station 100 metres behind the hotel.. Walkable even with a bag. We found grabbed a train to Sassari and onwards to Cagliari!
Hotel Oasis

We have just come back from a week here. The room and all hotels area were always clean. The rooms are basic but are quite spacious. After one bad night due to the mattress I put a blanket down on the bed and the next day the housekeeper had put a mattress topper on the bed for us. It is located near bus stop into Alghero and the beach bus to beaches up the coast. All the staff were really friendly and most of them spoke english. My husband has coeliac disease, each morning at breakfast he was given a basket with gluten free cereal, bread, biscuits and offered croissants which were heated in the oven. At dinner the staff showed him what he could have and then gave him the option of having fresh gluten free pasta cooked so he could have the pasta dish. They also cooked meat separately if the sauce wasn't gluten free. We want to say a special thank you to Roberta and all the staff in the restaurant and kitchen for looking after him so well. We really appreciated the time Roberta spent with him each evening and translating to the other staff. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel and returning if we can.
