Historic Inns of Annapolis

Annapolis|0.59km from United States Naval Academy
Just wrapped up a two-day meeting at the Historic Inns of Annapolis. I was so looking forward to staying there, as I'd heard great things about it. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the service and the cleanliness. We stayed in the Gov Calvert building, which is a beautiful, historic building on the main circle in downtown Annapolis, just a short walk from the MD state house. Although old, it's been preserved wonderfully, and it doesn't feel 250+ years old. When I arrived at 7:15pm, there was no valet available, so I waited in the rain at the valet stand for 10 minutes before retreating into the hotel. I checked in at ~7:30pm but had to return outside to provide the valet my key and retrieve my bags. There was no bellman to assist with the bags. When I checked in, I asked if there were a restaurant or bar in the hotel where I might get a bite to eat and was directed to the pub next door. Unfortunately, it closed at 8pm, so I had to find my way to another pub down the street and around the corner. For early evening, I was surprised to be unable to find dinner in house and being forced out into the rain to walk to a restaurant. When I returned to my room, I looked for a plug near the bed to charge my phone. There was a very, very dirty power strip behind the bedside table that had so much sticky grime on it that I had to clean the openings for the phone's cord before inserting. When we began our meeting the next morning, there was no breakfast served, though we'd ordered it when we contracted for the retreat. We were eventually provided a coffee service, though our staff had to go out to get bagels, since everyone came expecting breakfast to be included. There was food left in the refrigerator in our meeting room from a wedding over the previous weekend, which drew gnats to the room that we had to contend with over the two days. Several colleagues expressed concern at the lack of cleanliness of their bathrooms (hair in their tubs &/or bathroom sinks), so we asked that the rooms of all our guests be deep cleaned. The hotel nicely left a bottle of wine in each room after recleaning. On Day 2, we were informed mid-morning that unless we cleared our cars from the garage by 1pm, we would have to pay an extra $15 per car on top of the $32/day for valet service. (There is no self-parking option and street parking is limited.) This was not stated when we made reservations, when the meeting rooms were booked and food ordered, or when we checked into the hotel. Our meeting was not scheduled to conclude until 3:30, and we'd paid for the room's use through the end of the business day. Although the hotel agreed to waive the extra $15, we were each asked for $15 when we summoned our car through the text app the hotel uses, as valet instructions required. As a result, we had to wait at the front desk for the staff to ”release” the charges on each of our accounts before the valet could retrieve our cars. The staff that served us for the meeting we

We had another wonderful stay at The Annapolis Waterfront Hotel (a Marriott property). My wife and I go every year for our anniversary. It is not cheap, but the view and location are excellent. Rene at the front desk went the extra mile and gave us a fantastic experience. Hats off to him and our server at breakfast, Taylor, provided great service with a smile. We will be back!

Overall, the surrounding environment is also good, dining and shopping are convenient. But the room is not big, saying that the standard room is allowed to sleep 4 people, but a bed is about 1.3m. It is still difficult to sleep two people. Two people can live in one room, 3-4 people, and they are crowded. Our family of three traveled, and one room slept all night, feeling too crowded, and made up a room the next day, everyone can rest better.

Hilton inn express Annapolis Maryland review The good way overpowers the bad, so I’m going to start there. I got this for $73 a night on Priceline. A huge room with a king-sized bed, a pullout couch, plenty of desk space, a small kitchenette which consists of a microwave, a sink, a good -sized refrigerator, and cupboards. The bathroom is large with a walk-in shower. Everything is super clean. I find that rare. Super friendly and helpful front desk and cleaning staff. Every single one of them. The bed was very comfortable, with awesome pillows. And many of them. You can control the heat and air conditioning with a digital unit on the wall. Super quiet unit. They actually wash the comforters! I went down to get some new towels and the attendant took me to the laundry/supply room and I saw heaps of dirty comforters in a bin and I asked her if they actually washed the comforters. They do! I personally think that should be required of every hotel! One of the best gyms I’ve ever seen at a hotel. Treadmill, elliptical, bike, a bench, free weights, yoga mats, resistance bands. You can turn the air down and it cools the room off super quick. Such an excellent hotel, that I hate to even mention any issues. But, a few things bothered me, and they may bother you as well, so I will share them. The first issue is that there is no place to hang your towel, not even a hand towel. OK, well let me correct that. There is one towel rack which acts as the handle of the shower door. And there’s a dual hook on the back of the bathroom door, but the hooks are so close together you can only hang one towel on them and so short that a towel will not stay on them. That’s it. This is a king-sized suite, so that means it sleeps at least three people. There is a vanity with a long counter, and plenty of space for some towel racks. My daughter goes to college in Annapolis, so I will stay here again, but I will pick up one of those over-the-door rack of hooks at the Dollar Tree for the bathroom first. The shower doors do not slide easily. The fan in the bathroom is connected to the light, so when you turn the light on, you turn the fan on. And that’s a great idea, because people will not remember to turn the fan on, and that causes mold. So I do not blame them for making it non-optional. However. The fan is SO INCREDIBLY LOUD that you cannot have a conversation if the light is on. You cannot listen to the news while you get ready. You cannot have a phone conversation It’s overpowering. This impacted my ability to multi-task, which affected my work. The toilet has a very powerful flush, so be sure to put the lid down or it will spray you and the floor. The shower is a clear glass door, so this means no sharing the bathroom unless you are a couple and don’t mind the exposure. Installing a shower curtain would allow someone to get ready at the sink at the same time. There are several stains on the carpet. Water pressure in the shower is great, but the w

Sonesta Annapolis is one of the best extended stay hotels I have ever stayed for a length of time. The rooms are large and spacious. I had plenty of room for my luggage and the closets are larger than many hotels for storage and clothing for those who have longer stays. The furniture is up to date and the bed was comfortable. I am in a studio queen and as my stay is a few months I added a few home-feel touches. The staff, operations director and sales managers are first class individuals. I hosted a private business lunch and they helped me greatly to make this business luncheon a success! The staff will go out of their way to accommodate you as best as possible and will help you to make the stay comfortable. Housekeeping is clean and the towels are soft and white. The area is quite during the day and evening. The laundry facility is clean, and the machines are up to date. I feel very safe as a female traveler. I am one that does not like to write reviews, however, I decided to write one as I am please beyond measure of the service I have received during my stay. Hope you enjoy your stay if you select to stay at Sonesta Annapolis! Signed, (Shawn) A Commercial Developer
