This is a beautiful conference center located in a beautiful setting. Unfortunately, the rooms were not very clean, our room had no closet, one of the beds had dirty sheets, and the noise from other rooms was loud (no insulation, not people being loud). We attempted to use our patio but there was bird droppings everywhere and a shoebox that had obviously been there a while. We had no housekeeping service for a two night stay. They did stop by as we we’re getting ready for a wedding and when I asked if they could come back in an hour she stated that they would be gone in an hour. 🤔. She handed me clean towels and left. I would only recommend staying here if you have no other option.

Relaxing, quiet weekend in the heart of Ohio. Everything was wonderful!! Room was clean and roomy (two queen bed room), easy to navigate around the lodge, even while remodeling. The fire pits on the patio are a really nice touch, too! We enjoyed sunset on Pleasant Hill Lake while fireside. Highly recommend this place! Oh, and everyone in staff is very nice, too!

Very comfortable beds, clean room the entire lodge is very clean and well kept it offers a paved trail with a great sight of the water you can even eat lunch or dinner with a view. They offer rentals on fire pits and firewood. A Sauna and indoor pool. Only complaint is that I paid extra for a “ woods view” room and my room looked directly into the outdoor pool and restaurant located across the lodge. The gift shop is well stocked and food is pretty good but lacking in variety mostly fried foods. Overall the stay was amazing for the price and will likely stay again soon.

Went down to do some fly fishing and stayed the night here..was clean and the restaurant was very good. Had beautiful views from the lodge and even watched a Bald Eagle flying around while eating breakfast. There is also a heated indoor pool and outdoor pool.

I've been staying at the lodge every year for about 11 years, and it never disappoints! Let's start with the staff, as soon as you walk into the door you get a very uplifting "Welcome and Hello". The check in process was so easy and informative especially with the recent start of their room renovation process! After we got checked in we made our way back to the room, the sun was just starting to set so walking through the long hallway of windows was breathtaking and we had to stop and soak it in. We happened to walk passed a few of the housekeepers on our way to our room and they gave us a huge smile and welcomed us, asking how our day was going and our travels. When we got to our room it was very clean and I immediately felt a sense of comfort. After getting settled in, we went to the dining room to eat and again greeted with smiles and sat at our table that has the most beautiful overview of the lake. The fire place in the dining room was lit, and gave you a sense of warmth and comfort. We got our food, and let me tell you what the food at the lodge is absolutely phenomenal. Never to disappoint. I cannot wait to return again next year when the room renovations are done, even though I will miss the comfortable rustic feeling they have given off! 10/10 visit, and will forever recommend this hidden gem!

Bar closed upon arrival. Restaurant couldn’t serve alcohol because server was 19. No manager available. Bat in furnace/walls of room. Cigarette buts and bloody Kleenex near exit never cleaned up. Exterior doors left open past midnight.

If nostalgia is your thing, this place is great. Looks like it was built in the 70's and is certainly in a wooded, beautiful area. But our room was one of the worst I have ever been in. We were booked for 2 nights for a wedding. First even getting the reservation was a challenge as their website was down so we had to call and they could not find our group rate. They eventually found us but had none of our desired room types available, which was fine but a bit surprising as we were booking 3-4 months before the event. ANYWAY. when we checked in, one of us (we had 3 in our room) asked about trails near the property and was told we would have to drive a few miles to the dam to find any trails heads. Imagine our surprise when our friend discovered about 5 trail heads at the edge of the parking lot the next morning! So it was a bit annoying that the staff was unaware of this. THE ZERO START ROOM - when we first opened the door to our room, it smelled very musty, as if it had not been opened up for months. We just thought that was the case and figured it would get better. Our mistake! I always Clorox wipe things down (thanks COVID!) and let me tell you, I am glad I did. It was pretty gross. Later that night, we discovered that the main light switch (on the wall, right when you walked in) controlled not only the lights over the sink in the entry way, but also the refrigerator and only available outlets that we had to charge our phones. So at night, we had to unscrew the lightbulbs by the sink. Not great. But we made it through night one ok. By the middle of the next day, all of the sheets, towels, carpets all felt damp despite us running the A/C at 68 the entire time. As soon as you left the room and came back, the mildew smell was overpowering. Everything felt wet and I was so grossed out. But we had one night to go in a sold out hotel so we ****** it up. At some point the A/C started to sound like a jet engine every time it turned on which meant we woke up every time it turned on in the night. It was AWFUL. I could not pack my bags and get out of that place fast enough. When I told the front desk that they may want to check in on that A/C unit and mentioned the dampness and smell, I was met with the blankest of looks. Needless to say this was a one and only stay at this place.

As of this writing many places continue to experience staff shortages and Mohican is no exception. The poor front desk person was completely overwhelmed for hours on end and with spotty wifi, it was difficult to impossible to check people in. The phone rang off the hook while he tried to get guests checked in on non-working computers. We did have to change rooms as our original room had a very bad smell emanating from the center nightstand panel and they were very accommodating in allowing us to move. Rooms are "fine" but outdated. Mattresses weren't special/squeaky and there were only two outlets in the whole room - none by the bed/nightstand so charging multiple devices was a challenge. The advertised "arcade games" were just a bunch of claw machines and two one-player games. No classic arcade games at all that two people could play. Table tennis rackets were falling apart and stapled together, played on a wooden table not even a table tennis table. The outdoor pool was lovely but the lifeguards do not pay attention to swimmers at all. They are glued to their phones or engaged in conversation with each other - there was always a 2nd lifeguard hanging out chatting with the person in the chair. Restaurant was ok, nothing special. Wifi is spotty and so is TV reception. The lodge itself is beautiful. Comfortable brown leather couches abound, rocking chairs that showcase beautiful views through oversized windows, cozy fire pits at night for rental. Lots of outdoor activities including hiking and water sports nearby at Pleasant Hill lake (no paddle boats though). There is NOTHING for kids to do when it rains but go to the indoor pool or play a board game. Also the restaurant is only open certain hours and other than vending machines, nowhere to get snacks on site when they are closed. The gift shop mainly sells clothing and drinks. Maumee Bay has much more to do, including a daily family movie in the lobby, DVDs/movie player available from the front desk, pickleball, paddle boat rentals, racquetball, etc. I would suggest that property over this one.

On June 26, 2022 my family celebrated my mother’s 90th birthday. James Calderhead, the Catering Sales Manager, made it very easy to book and plan the menu via email including a gluten free plate. The Aerie room was clean and had a great view of the outdoor patio and Pleasant Hill Lake and was close to the outdoor pool. The service staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs without hovering. The chef did a great job in preparing the buffet. The marinated grilled chicken was moist, the vegetables were crisp and cooked properly, salads cold and fresh, the cheese stuffed shells with a spinach red pepper cream sauce and candied pecan-crusted mashed sweet potatoes were hot and delicious. The young kids and teenagers took advantage of the outdoor pool as it was a beautiful day. Mohican State Park staff helped make this a very memorable day. I would highly recommend them for your special occasion.
