I picked Ergon House because I was travelling solo and wanted a place I’d feel comfortable hanging out and dining alone whilst in Athens. The hotel prides itself as a foodie hotel, and I was welcomed with a snack bag from their market upon check in. Breakfast was included in the package, and you can pick a la carte from an extensive menu. Situated in the heart of Plaka, the location is superb. Only downside is that the roof top isn’t open in winter and there’s no view of the acropolis. The big minus for me was the noise - the rooms aren’t sound proof and I could hear noise down the hall and doors slamming all through the night. Otherwise the rooms are small, but sufficient and homey. Well designed modern rooms. The boutique hotel has 24/7 reception, and almost everyone was very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately they had an AC issue on my last night - my room was 26C. The lady working reception that evening was frustrated with my complaints, but ultimately moved me to another room to get my night’s rest. All in, I’m happy with the hotel, though it’d cater more to younger folks and solo/couples.
