This hotel is very clean and well Managed. I had no issues from beginning to end. The only thing was room service did not bring cutlery with my meal. But everything els was 1000%. Great Hotel! The hotel is well located. Near the Wangfujing boulevard and the Tian’anmen square. Bus 111 stops right across from the hotel and it takes you to Jingshan park to have a bird’s eye view of the Forbidden City. The hotel breakfast was OK for Chinese standards, though it lacked cheese and ham variety. The room was spacious enough and although the bathroom needs some repairs it is well cleaned. Room service was efficient and the food wasn’t bad at all! -although westerners without Chinese language skills might struggle a bit to order food by phone. Staff is attentive, polite and friendly. Overall, we liked this hotel and our Beijing visit.

The service is very good, they take the initiative to help with luggage, introduce the room, and help bring takeaways upstairs. Breakfast is a set menu, simple but well produced.

I don’t know why Ctrip defines it as an affordable luxury hotel. It’s just an inn. The location is amazing. It’s in Nanluoguxiang and very close to the subway station. My best friend and I have two kids. There are two double rooms and one is upstairs. The door cannot be locked. The window outside is the roof of the house next to it. The other room is on the first floor. In the middle of the night, I felt someone prying on the door and moving the window. It scared the baby so much that he dared not sleep. I called the innkeeper on duty and asked him to come and take a look. It took more than ten minutes to wait in such a small place. The next day I asked other staff and they said that Wong Tai Sin would wander around at night. Well... it's okay to just sleep for the location.

I absolutely loved the Shadow Puppetry aspect of this hotel. They do performances every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 8pm. Even though I don't speak Chinese, I really enjoyed the performances and the demonstrations of the history and logistics of the puppets. I also got to paint my own puppets after the show (for an extra fee), which I loved. Really friendly staff and beautiful décor. It would have been nice to have some more natural light in my room and the walk back to the hotel was pretty dark at night and away from the main street, which I would have preferred to avoid as a solo female traveller. However, all of this was made clear when booking the hotel, so they set clear expectations and made it a memorable and comfortable stay. Would recommend!
