I would highly recommend staying here if you are running the Berlin Marathon. Being from North America, I had a preference to stay at a hotel that was a known brand to me. This hotel is a part of the IHG brand (Holiday Inn). You can expect the same type of experience that you would expect from any other IHG hotel. It was a very short walk to the zoologischer garten S-bahn station which makes travel to the Marathon easy (and other tourist sites for that matter). The above ground railway gives you multiple trains to access (S5/S7/S9 etc) and the distance/time is very short (less than 20 minutes to get to Berlin main station (including the walk from the hotel to the station). This year, the hotel was hosting a pasta dinner each night leading up to the race. This made it easy to get a nice ”carbo loaded” dinner without leaving the hotel. I had pasta both nights and both times the food was excellent. Hopefully they will do again in future years. There was also a breakfast available race morning although I did not opt to take it. My room was exactly as pictured on the website. The shower was fantastic with handheld and waterfall options. The property has stairs for those who do not like elevators. At the time of this review, you can walk up and down stairs with no issues (you just need your room key to access the floor). I asked for a wake-up call on Marathon morning (as a backup to my phone alarm) and it worked well. The staff were very friendly and helpful at every step of the way (no issues in only speaking English). All in all, a great experience!

We stayed at HI Berlin City West for 3 nights. Hotel is two blocks from Savignyplatz station with lots of shopping and dining options in the Ku’damm district. Kadewe is a few stops by bus. It’s also two bus stops from the Zoo station which is a major bus and train terminal. S9 takes you directly to BER if you need to catch a flight. The hotel is reasonably priced, updated modern and very clean. Typical European breakfast buffet included has lots of options like cold cuts, fresh fruits, bread, scrambled eggs, waffles, bacon, yogurts, etc. Housekeeping was done every day. The most important asset is the staff. Max L. was extremely helpful and enthusiastically helped us with all our requests. The only concern I have is we were assigned to a room on one side of the hotel which faces the train track. The train schedule is limited at night but we are light sleepers. Mary K. diligently and promptly resolved our concern about the noise and moved us to a higher floor.

Hotel next to Berlin Zoo. The room was very stylish, neat and clean. The minibar was free and German beer was also placed! And the best part is the Jungle Sauna on the upper floor. Self-roasting is possible in the Finnish sauna. Pour water on the stove and adjust it, and a hot sauna is ready! There is a rest space next to the sauna where you can take a shy bath. Sparkling water and German beer were also available. Please note that the sauna is a mixed-gender bath and swimsuits are prohibited. Bath towels are placed in the sauna, so you don't need to bring them from your room. Bathrobes can be borrowed from reception. Stylish hotel, great sauna, friendly staff, everything was great. I will stay at this hotel again when I visit Berlin next time.

First time in this chain of hotels. Charmed by the comfort and the service at reception desk BUT I must be the unlucky bird. On 5 nights stay I had to complain twice 1/cleaners left my window wide open and when I came back late at night my room was colder than a fridge 2/i had the sign do not disturb for the morning left BEFORE 12 saw the cleaning staff in the hall on the floor where my room was and they did Not clean my room When I complained at reception it was my bad because I had put the sign then my room would not be cleaned at all. And their answer was how r they suppose to know u re gone and they can clean? No compensation offered obviously... My advice to the manager: get the cleaning personal to focus on their job and stop being on their phone while they clean 2/review the process ”to clean or not to clean 3/review features of ur app to book breakfast because I really do not think it is normal to have to cancel payments of a whole bill just to change the breakfast date... The price of the hotel is reasonable for a service which should be correct. Not the case for me This said good location and comfy rooms even though bit small

Extremely small room with very little space to manoeuvre. TV on wall becomes an obstacle because the bed is so close. No coffee maker/fridge. Bathroom shower door is clear glass and is in the way. I hit my arm on it and ended up with a huge bruise. Staff was ok. When I pointed out an error in my bill, although I was credited, it came with an eye roll. Breakfast was very good. Breakfast staff were very pleasant. Location is good. Not sure I’d stay again.
