You would think guests staying for a full week, booked 6 months in advance, would be given a great room with a view but this was not the case. We did have a nice view of the harbour but only short term after our tour guide made a fuss on our behalf. The room didn't have an ensuite so we were traveling through the common space/hallway for access to the bathroom and shower, not ideal. We anticipated a nice canopy-style bed we had from our booking picture but were met with a bare-frame double bed, which surprised us based on our $ room rate. The bedsheets were clean and so were the towels. Fresh towels are not provided daily you do have to ask for them. We then had to switch rooms at the hotel's request, again just a small bedroom, It did have an ensuite, and at least it had a TV the first did not. The complimentary breakfast was decent, some in-season fresh fruit would have been nice but overall good. The location is good, with lots of restaurants and pubs nearby. This is not a location for someone with mobility issues as stairs are required to get to all rooms. Staff are generally friendly, exceptional service from Charlie! Charlie was such a pleasant, happy person to speak with in the mornings at breakfast, she always had a smile. All-in-all it was a place to lay our heads,(a very expensive one) that unless complimentary, I would not choose to stay again.

Fire doors locked or broken. No evidence of fire extinguishers. Unlit stairs causing my mother (77) to fall. Lower sash windows open fully. Scalding hot water. Food hygiene questionable. No accident reporting. no management presence. Significant rapid decline in standards since booking. Hotel advertising is totally inaccurate - no indication of accessibility issues.

Apart from the fire safety and health and safety issues( unlit stairways). From a drab exterior to a shabby interior. Smelly shower room, broken toilet seat, mould in shower. Cracked walls and ceilings, paintwork appalling, cobwebs. Tip of a beer garden. No senior staff. Awful breakfast. Pictures on website are from a bygone age.

Don't waste your money. The photos they use are not up to date. They no longer do meals. The breakfast is continental (not bad). So let's start with some positive points - the staff were amazing, The bed in room 8 was very comfortable with fresh bedding. Location right in the thick of it. Powerful shower. Sorry that's it. So the bit that people need to know before staying here. We had the king room advertised as having it's own bathroom. Brill as we always go for ensuite. There was no mention in the advert that the bathroom was not connected to the room. So if you did need to use the facilities you had to come out of your room across a public landing, cross the other side to the room that's classed as a bathroom ( no bath ) to a shower room. With a stained ceiling, leaking shower door, shower taps put on the wrong way round. The water temperature couldn't be turned down so very hot. No lock on door unless you take your bedroom door keys with you, a toilet seat that moved when you sat on it and smells of something you don't want to smell. There was no mention that the room was on the top floor via 4 flights of stairs of which the sensor lights didn't work on the last two which were the darkest. Back to the bedroom, a great view for everyone outside to see you undressing especially when the lights are on. Could do with a net curtain at bottom. Could be dangerous if you opened the window as it's floor level sash windows. In my opinion choose somewhere else.

When I arrived at the Mariners, after a very long 5 hours train from London to Falmouth, Cornwall, the hotel's door was closed :=( I couldn't call the phone number written on the door because I had no wi-fi connection in my mobile phone. A nice person saw how disappointed I am, and he kindly called the hotel staff and they opened the door. There's no elevator at the Mariners but merely a staircase. The room facing the back of the hotel is spacious but it views an unappealing backyard (not a fascinating garden). The water stream was too weak. The hot water wasn't hot enough. The seagulls woke me up at 4.30 am and even at 2.30 pm(!). The room wasn't clean at the day after my arrival, and even in the day after (see "the managers'" letter) although the small trash can was overload and the toilet had to be cleaned. Devastating. Only a day before my checking out, the room was thankfully cleaned and the bed was made (I thanked the staff for it) and this miracle apparently happened after I spoke to Kai, one of the staff members; she promised me to make sure that the room will be cleaned and said, "If you were telling me about it before, I was making sure it will be cleaned" but I didn't see her before but only met her two coworkers, Jason and Luigiana). All "the manager" agreed to do, according to Luigiana, is "to refund your breakfasts, you can talk to him" (I didn't wish to bargain with him) as the "continental breakfast" hardly included any vegan options (bread and marmalade are definitely not enough for a hungry vegan, sorry, and even the added vegan butter added, in my last day at the Mariners, was not enough, sorry). I didn't get any refund despite the horrible experience I had at the Mariners hotel that included about 2-3 days of unemptied trash can, uncleaned toilet, and unmade bed. I didn't get a full refund although I believed and I still believe it is the least this hotel should do, in this case). I'll never stay at the Mariners again, and my only advice to my colleagues is to look for another, better hotel (perhaps the adjacent Grove Hotel?).

The Mariners/Cutty Sark has been an annual stay for us on a yearly basis when we travel down to play Falmouth in the rugby league. We usually take at least 8-9 of the bedrooms for between 1-2 nights. We recently stayed here on 3rd June 2023 taking only 7 rooms this time. This place has gone down hill fast since our last visit, the whole hotel needs money spending on it. Paint is flaking everywhere. The rooms are tired and need money a lot of money spending on them. Shower was filthy, scale all over the screen and soap dish (which didn't have any type of soap in it) was slimy and had not been cleaned for weeks/months. AVOID if you ware planning a romantic weekend away, you will be so disappointed for 18-20 men its less of an issue. Few issues found: No toilet roll in many of the rooms No shower gel / shampoo in any of the 7 rooms My personal room the shower was so hot, I physically had to jump out before washing, the knob had broken on the temperature adjus**ent couldn't be turned down, real danger here for small children. I immediately went downstairs and told the manager, who said he would look into it. I waited for around 20 minutes but he never came up to look at it, therefore ended up having to have a wash in the sink. When we were leaving we watched the manger, painting the benches outside, he was painting them from brown to a modern blue colour, he was simply painting over all the seagull poo etc. Attention to detail has gone out the window in this place. Previous manager John was great, couldn't do enough for you. Appears the new managers/owners dont even care enough to clean seagull poo from a table before painting. So you can only imagine what this place will be like in a few months. Will not be staying here again. The only thing it has going for it now is the location, close to town.

I have stayed in Falmouth several times and this was my worst experience. In summary these were the issues V smelly drains Promised sole use of bathroom but others using it No lock on bathroom door Scalding hot water in shower unable to change the temperature - this was a dangerous health and safety issue No toilet roll Broken Toilet seat Tired and dirty communal hallways Smoke alarm in room flashing Breakfast on first day was poor no granola or yogurt although advertised - burnt stale toast Breakfast Second day only continental available - not told this in advance - Very undercooked inedible croissants only or white stale bread absolutely unacceptable Photos of the hotel on the website are very misleading No food available in the evenings I am incredibly upset about this. If I was staying in a budget hotel you might expect some of these things but I paid over £300 for 2 nights! For this amount of money you expect a lot lot better. I am not a complainer but feel completely conned and entitled to some refund. I was going to say something at the end of my stay to a member of staff but the young staff seemed completely out of their depths, with an absent manager. On the plus side view was good and bed was very comfortable !

We booked in for Sunday lunch in May 2023. We had booked in March 2023 so the venue did have a chance to tell us of any problems with the booking. We arrived at the Mariners at 2.10pm for our 2.30pm booking. All of the doors were locked and when we looked through the windows, there was a mattress propped up in the kitchen. We rang both numbers shown on the door of the Mariners but there was no answer from either. I sent a message to the Mariners complaining about not hearing anything to cancel our booking prior to us arriving. They said that their managers had walked out the day before and they had no choice but to remain closed. Funnily enough though, we walked past later that same evening and the Mariners was open with customers sitting inside and outside the pub. PLEASE BEWARE, the booking tool is still live for the Mariners and you could find yourself disappointed and with nowhere to go for much if you book here.

Went for Sunday lunch. Booked in advance as we knew it was dog friendly. Really lovely Sunday lunch friendly staff and good choice of beers/ales. All in all good value for money. Would definitely revisit
