Unimpressed unfortunately - maybe just bad luck but we paid 5 star prices (albeit a last minute booking but still) and the service, room and food were definitely 3 star. It bills itself as a luxury hotel. Staff were friendly but service was pretty slow and disorganised. Food is fine, nothing exciting and the same menu every evening - steak and chips, that sort of thing. Pool was fun and the kids enjoyed the trampoline too. Library and kids club is a nice touch. We’re left with a sour taste after paying so much - the experience just didn’t add up for us.

Beautiful and exceptionally friendly hotel. Thoroughly recommend. Excellent for families and respite for adults with the creche or kids club. My husband and I deliberately went in term time so only a couple of babies and very quiet. Love, love, loved it!

Fantastic family hotel. Visited with our ten and 8 year old. They loved the movie night including popcorn and milk. My daughter did tie dye in the kids club and the outdoor play areas were really nice. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant, nice food and service and kids disappear to the movie once they have eaten so you get to enjoy the rest of the meal. Would recommend to families. Staff friendly and accommodating.

Early spa break for two. So much needed I had the loveliest massage, I didn't get my therapists name but I know she was born in 1975. Really friendly and did a great job. My friend's massage was also good. The pool is shallow (a bonus) and great to use. The water was tested when I was there. The sauna and steam room are also amazing to detox. Children are welcome in pool The food wasn't that great sadly, a set menu. My toastie was greasy and cold and my friend's beet salad was too small for an adult. But the young lady serving us was lovely. We didn't complain as we were on a chilled spa day, just a note for the future maybe. Thanks again to all staff, we will definitely return. It is a beautiful location. The staff are a credit to the hotel. It's a little bit of a rabbits warren for people with no sense of direction like myself, but we will be returning.

Top marks on food! Had a juicy double burger followed by a gooey chocolate fondant, very attentive staff Fred and Dillon were super friendly!! I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and will be bringing my family back next time, stunning views from the window washed down nicely with a funky iced coffee! 5 star from me

Woolley Grange is the perfect family holiday destination. Ever since having children, we have struggled to find a destination that provides both luxury and all required services for family needs. Typically you have to make a compromise. Woolley Grange changed all of that…offering a luxurious family experience at the highest level. Pre-Holiday: the staff at Woolley Grange were pro-active in ensuring everything was prepared in advance of the holiday. Ensured that the rooms were set up exactly how was required for the children; bed rails, potties, changing mats, nappy bins, non-slip bath mats, baby monitors … everything had been thought of. A specific shout out to Daniel who was excellent. From making the booking to arriving, the stress was taken out of the process. Woolley Grange provide everything which means packing is relatively simple and easy. The only thing you will need to bring is a pram if you wish; everything else is provided. The Setting: Woolley Grange is idyllic - rolling countryside and beautiful grounds. The main garden is set up to provide games for the children. There is also the vegetable garden for the kids to explore. Our toddler loved the morning trip to see the runner ducks after breakfast. Also there are two Wendy houses for kids to play in. The indoor swimming pool was great; facilities are nicely laid out and kid friendly. The outdoor swimming pool wasn’t open during our stay; however, we could see the location was perfect and yet again, the set up was very family friendly. Family Focus: everything is set up to cater for families. During mealtimes the staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and provide us with all things baby-related! All mess was cleared up quickly and staff were always willing to go the extra mile to ensure families had what they needed…for example specific food requirements, extra beakers, high chairs etc A nice touch is that for mealtimes, the staff had created name tags for the children, making it easy to know which table had been set up for the particular family. Another very useful complimentary service provided is bottle cleaning. Bears Den was brilliant for childcare; they looked after our 2.5 year old and our 7 month old, with no issues. During the week, our toddler made some lovely friends who all went to Bears Den together. 1 1/2 hours is complimentary, which is a great help for parents who want to relax for a bit during the day. The Spa: really good Spa facilities. One tip would be to book treatments well in advance, as it does get busy. If you leave it to when you arrive to book treatments, there may be limited availability. The Staff: are simply fantastic. The staff are what made this holiday a special one. Specific thanks to: Daniel, Liam, Dylan, Steve and Kay. Also a big thank you to Lisa the Manager who was brilliant and who runs a super efficient and high quality team. Overall, an amazing place and provides families with a special holiday destination in a luxurious e

This is a gorgeous and historic building in lovely grounds. The furnishings and decor are elegant and welcoming. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The restaurant however was disappointing; the menu was mostly burgers and fish and for such a high class hotel we expected something a little more interesting. The prices also seemed high for what was on offer. The absence of a bar limits the ability to serve a good range of drinks.

We picked this hotel because we’ve tried some of the other luxury family hotels in this chain already and have always been impressed. We have enjoyed our family stay away and I will give it a 4/5 and I will explain below my reasons behind this. Pros Breakfast was perfect, this ticked all the boxes for me. The crèche they run each day and offer in the stay to look after your kids has always been good and this was again very good, the staff were great and really made an effort with the kids in the crèche 5* The cinema rooms and kids play areas are great with plenty for the kids to do and see on their trip to Whooley Grange. Great room with a dvd player with lots of available dvds as an additional option in the evenings while the kids are asleep. An adequate spa with a good message therapist and a standard pool which had a sauna and steam room. Dinner, we tried somewhere local the original night but we did stay for dinner on the second night and it was very nice, nothing to complain about whatsoever. Our room was comfy with a nice bath and the kids loved the space we had. Cons (and very little) I found it a bit unusual to not have a bar to order drinks/snacks from. We had to direct this to mainly a reception which was always very busy managing the same sort of requests plus other things. They didn’t seem to have a functional system to deal with customer demand and I think a fully operational bar would of managed this,,,, I had a few experiences which backed this but one that comes to mind is when I ordered a drink with reception and they went off and 10 minutes later came back to ask me what I needed again… (reception team taking on to much in my opinion) Having said that, the reception team and everybody else in general really did want to help and always seemed very happy and catering to us. On one more note, we have tried a few hotels under this chain and they have always been extremely caring and catering towards our family with a real personal feel to it, (remembering our names, having a real personal touch with our family etc…) this is also something that the Woolley Grange had not lived up to compared to other hotels under them same brand. Apart from that we are very satisfied and will most certainly be trying another hotel under the chain again on the near future.

The building and location are brilliant, there is a lot of history attached to the building and the owners are clearly proud of that fact. The staff were without exception a credit to the owners and although there was not an extensive knowledge of coeliac condition they did try to meet expectations and this was also evident by the chefs efforts. Breakfasts were excellent and value for money but I did not find the dinner menu neither broad enough or good value for money, the food was well cooked though. The owners are clearly trying to attract couples with children so it did get a tad noisy on occasions in the eating areas but that's life. Couple of negatives: the EV charging points were in the back of beyond with no signage and most importantly no lighting, take a torch. You would also benefit having a torch getting round the site at night as the lighting was inadequate generally.
