Dovecliff Hall Hotel

A few days spent with friends at this hotel. The staff were the most friendly of any hotel we have stayed at, nothing was too much trouble and they made us all feel at home. The breakfasts were excellent and food was well prepared. The bedroom was large and comfortable with no real issues. The hotel itself is an old building and has no lift which could be an issue for some but it was not a problem for us. There used to be a large garden to explore if the weather is good. They do hold weddings here. We would highly recommend this hotel for a short stay.

Awesome setting, with excellent service. The majority of the food served was amazing, but the way that they cooked their steak was not to our tastes. To my mind, a steak gets its flavour from being seared in a pan or on a griddle. At Dovecliffe, the steak was poached and then flashed under a grill, resulting in a tasteless dish. I would love to visit the restaurant again, but will avoid the steak.

We arrived Saturday to a very warm welcome. We were staying as friends were celebrating a joint 70th at the hotel and had booked it out for exclusive use. Our room (number 5) was large, well furnished with lots of big windows overlooking the garden and adjoining fields. A nice large bathroom with separate bath and shower. As I say we were attending a birthday celebration so did not dine, as such, a buffet had been provided. However, I will say the staff were excellent. Professional, friendly and very efficient, considering they were looking after about 90 guests. The buffet was excellent. All the food we had well presented and replenished as the evening went along. Breakfast the next day was again buffet style. All in all we had a very pleasant 1 night stay.

Popped in with a friend for a coffee this morning. We didn’t fancy a cake so asked if there were any scones. Two large and beautifully presented warm scones arrived with a choice of jam and cream. Emilia served us and was friendly and so helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We look forward to returning regularly.

The most excellent Sunday lunch. Great food and first class customer service. Very good staff and lovely white tablecloths. Good choice at each course. Nice selection of wines. Very good value. Plenty of parking. Highly recommend. Welcoming.

Beautiful hotel in stunning surroundings. Rooms are large, clean and well equipped. Staff very friendly. Food was excellent especially the breakfast which was cooked to order. Plenty of parking space and a good location for nearby Burton

An amazing setting with very good food and excellent service and all our party look forward to returning at a later date Also felt that your prices were both competitive and giving good value The rooms were very spacious and furnished to a high standard

Stayed at the end of December as a stop over for a wedding. Lovely clean hotel , we had room 5 which was a well appointed suite - large, high ceilings, huge bed, roll top bath, you get the idea. Good value for money including breakfast. We had a nice relaxing bottle of wine in the bar as well. The staff were brilliant and couldn’t do enough for you and a real asset to the hotel. Highly recommended if you want somewhere nice around Burton or Derby.
