We arrived at the hotel and it was busy with people queuing to check in,, eventually we got to the front to check in and Freddie gave us a lovely welcome however we overheard a very snappy rude woman telling a couple that she can't help out checking in because she's going home wow they definitely got told ! Our room wasn't as clean as it should or could have been but the bed is comfortable. Breakfast was nice but very busy and not enough staff members but the woman from the day before was running around getting stressed out and was being so rude to people asking for anything that it became quite awkward so we couldn't wait to check out, shame really because this could be a great place to stay with better management and without the stroppy woman!

Was down here for 3 months for work, got brilliant service from all the staff and the food menu was of very high quality, stayed at a few other hotels during the 3 months due to booking late and not getting a room and can say this is comfortably the best hotel we stayed in

Booked for three nights stayed two. Arrived on Sunday after 3pm. Approached the car park and noticed the faded signs and weatherboards in need of a paint job. Then spotted the sign that stated guests pay £5 a day for parking. Things didn’t get any better entering the hotel to very very loud music. Stood at reception and took a while for reception to acknowledge our presence. Seems she was dealing with two young men who were counting large quantities of silver coinage on a table which she was taking!. Having dealt with them they went off but kept coming back as key card not working on first door to access rooms. I advised her that we had just travelled more than three hours due to closure of A12 at copdock and I really did need a card that worked. She escorted us to our rooms to ensure this was so. Thank you! Later after 4pm we went to bar to get a drink. No service. Reception was very busy so hearing voices in office called to them. Female poked her head out to say she had “clocked off” at three so wasn’t on duty. I went to reception to queue when hubby called me and aforementioned staff member had apparently clocked back on again and served us our wine. (She eventually left at 5pm)We sat at line of tables facing coffee area but as each table was wobbling so much we moved to lounge chairs. Whereupon hubby pointed out a thick layer of dust on one half of the window sill. We decided to avoid eating here and decamped to McDonald’s for breakfast. They have a five star rating. Entering our room I did the wet wipe test The table lamp was covered with dust. The window had mould and the curtain rail collapsed onto me. The bathroom sink had no plug. The bathroom fan was excessively noisy so could not be used at night. The TV settings were in Russian. The towels were clean and fluffy. The bed was comfortable and made with clean sheets. There is no air conditioning.A wall heater is in the corner of the room but the wall control thermostat doesn’t work properly. The lighting is eco leaving the room depressingly dull as no lovely purple over bed lighting. I made a list of main issues and gave them to Freddy and our return he had sorted them for us, including the parking as my email had clearly stated free parking. So high praise for Freddy and the receptionist who booked us in.Thank you. This hotel needs a complete upgrade. We certainly won’t return. Premiere Inn standards are dropping. All you can offer now are white towels and a comfy bed. No different to travel lodge then! We left after two nights and will suck up the loss of a nights money.

Regularly stay here when visiting my dad as its close by and cheap. I know what to expect and it didn't disappoint. A couple of minor issues, the bathroom door not closing properly unless it was slammed shut and a lack of plug/USB sockets by the bed - but this room seems to be an older style one and I assume will be changed over time. Not really worth raising as it's out of the hotel's overall control. Bed & pillows were comfy and the room and linens were clean.

I booked 6 nights at this hotel as I have stayed here previously without any major issues, although they have now started charging £5 a night for parking which is unreasonable. I was planning to book a further 6 nights at the Boreham hotel, but within a couple of days they had hiked their prices, so I booked a further 6 nights at this hotel. When I arrived the gentleman at Reception said I could have a different room for second 6 nights if I wanted, and we agreed we'll sort it out on the Saturday as it was nearly 9pm. On the Saturday I went to reception and was told I was staying in the same room. I asked if the room could be serviced, with new towels and bedding. He said that was fine, I would need to be out of the room for around 20 minutes to allow housekeeping to clean the room. I told him I was going out Sunday morning and would let reception know. I went out around 10am and returned around 2pm. The rubbish had been taken away, two clean bath towels and one dirty hand towel had been left, and that was it. Barely a 2 minute job. I contacted PremierInn and received an automated email saying they would reply within 25-30 days. Simply not acceptable. I then went for a long walk, and when I returned, there were 2 members of housekeeping outside my room. They asked if this was my room, and I advised that I have had 3 conversations about servicing my room, but it wasn't done. One of them said they've been busy, and reception never told them to change the bedding. The other said the room was down as a departure, which means to clean it thoroughly for new guest arriving. Did they clean my room? No. Clean bedding during 12 night stay? No. Did I leave the room in the way I heard them say other guests left it, trashed? No. Do I have photos of the bedding that supposedly represents a departure for a new arrival? Yes. Do I have photos of how clean I left the room after 12 nights? Yes. Would I stay at this hotel again? No. Would I recommend it to others? Definitely not. Have I had a reply to my complaint? No. Please don't stay here, you will be so disappointed.

My partner and I stayed at Premier Inn Springfield Chelmsford for three nights and we didn’t want to leave. Our room was perfect and we slept better in those three nights than we have in months. The staff were outstanding - so professional and friendly and available for anything, at any time. They were so warm and welcoming and lovely to chat to.

Hotel needs refurb as rooms looking tired and in need of a decent clean and paint. Beds comfortable and bedding clean. All surfaces and carpets not as fresh and clean as I would expect. Breakfast good on first day but not as nice on second day. Probably wouldn’t stay again.

Arriving fairly late at night and despite following my satnav, I found the lack of lighting approaching the car park a bit off putting, especially as I was to be charged £5 for the pleasure. You think at that price, some form of adequate lighting woiuld be provided as on arrival and leaving the next morning, there was hardly a full parking area. Whilst the reception area was unmanned, within a few seconds we were being attended to and our booking in was completed. The room was the high standard of those I have come to expect from the Chain, spotlessly clean and throughout the corridors, there was an amazing perfume - wonder if I could get a bottle of whaterver it is. Heading to the bar/restaurant area for a meal, we found the same guy acting as barman, waiter and for all we knew, perhaps chef. Not sure what role he did best but if all Premier Inn staff were like him, the company would have no HR issues. He was awesome. A great ambassador for the hotel IMHO. For our meal, I had the Beef and Ale Pie, a nice size pie with tenderstem, peas and chips complete with a very tasty gravy whilst my wife had the chicken katsu Curry which she was delighted with. Add a couple of beers and a cider, the price of £23 per head, whilst a bit more expensive, wasn't too bad as the alternative local food outlets were MacD & KFC . The Booking out was simple but again, the payment for parking was extremely annoying.
