At first, it seemed like the Talbott was all about its location -- which is perfect for a downtown Chicago/Gold Coast experience. The important museums and fine restaurants are all within easy access. The building itself is spectacular, but the amenities in the rooms not much more than what you'd find in a Best Western Plus. But as the experience over two days played out, it became clear that what sets the Talbott apart is its people. From the servers in the restaurant (certainly NOT a Best Western), to the front desk clerk to the doorman, the Talbott employs an attentive, professional staff that really set it apart from other hotels I've stayed at. They are what make the Talbot an exclusive hotel.

Great location within steps of shopping and amazing restaurants! Everyone working here was wonderful and very kind. Our room was a double queen - very large with three people we didn’t feel like we were stepping on each other. The room is a bit dated…comfortable but falls short of the neighborhood and lobby feel. Room was more courtyard feel than a boutique brand from Marriott. Bar had some great drinks and we met some great people over the weekend.

To truly make this a 4 or 5 star stay for the price, offer a reduced rate for valet parking for guests who don’t plan to leave during their stay. Also the vouchers for the hotel bar/ restaurant should be redeemable for the entire stay not just the first day.

Overall, my stay here for the weekend was great! The doormen were the sweetest humans and I appreciated being able to push back my check out time. Highly recommend and will come back!

Everyone was very friendly and helpful. However, the room smelled like cat pee and the trains or some kind of industrial noise was so loud we could not sleep.

Small place, friendly staff. Been staying there for years and am greeted like an old friend by the staff.

The bed was super comfortable and room was clean. People were very friendly and helpful. Would stay there again.

Lovely hotel with an excellent restaurant/bar. Great location for high-end shops and Lincoln Park.

Always look to stay at the Talbott whrn in Chicago since the 1990s. We will return.

Lamont at the front desk was very helpful, nice & accommodating. We also like the valet gentleman who’s been there for so many years.

The staff at the Talbott are first class and very helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Staying here was a pleasure.

Charming hotel with friendly, helpful staff, great rooms and an all round impressive feel. We will return.

The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from 900 N Michigan Ave in Chicago, which is an excellent area. Looks to be an older hotel, but well-maintained and clean, with a friendly staff. A few significant noises at night possibly from the heating system or plumbing system, but reasonably priced for the area and clean. I would stay there again.
