The first time was six years ago, the service quality was very good, so it was my first choice when I came to Ireland after the new crown. Unfortunately, the whole feeling this time was far from the first time, and I was quite disappointed☹️… First of all, the wireless network in the room was often interrupted or there was no signal. I called the front desk and the reply we got was that the signal was not good in the countryside. Now that technology is so advanced, such a reason is really far-fetched. Secondly, there was no drinking water in the room. I asked the waiter to bring water, but the waiter asked us to get it ourselves. Is this the service that a star-rated hotel should have? I understand that the store uses handwritten menus to show their high-end, but the font of the entire menu is very difficult to read. It is so dense that people feel dizzy. It is not the kind of comfortable and clear font and layout. Since it is a castle hotel, people should be able to walk around. It was possible six years ago, but now many places are surrounded by gates. It is impossible to walk around.

Once again we would like to thank you for the wonderful time we had in your beautiful hotel "The Quay House" 26-27.04.2024. We enjoyed very much your care and company and the interest you show for all your guests! You live up to the true Irish friendliness. The breakfast was simply second to none. It is a very special hotel in Ireland that we would like to visit every time we go back there, especially because of the Toby Pat and Julia family, wonderful people.

We've never stayed at a castle & thought Abbeyglen might be fun. With no great expectations, we ended up loving Abbeyglen Castle! Room was comfortable & clean, nice breakfast too. Brian was a knowledgeable and wonderful host. We enjoyed the history of the hotel & Brian at the piano got everyone singing & having a great time. Walk the Sky Road loop - amazing views and lots of cute farm animals.

I stayed there with my husband and my sister and her husband. We all thought what a strange place it was. I would use the term “castle” very loosely to describe it. Inside it was totally dated and felt very old fashioned but not in a good way. I’m not sure of the significance of the 6.30pm glass of Prosecco. We were kept hanging around for it for ages and it was just really a self serving talk by the owner. The menu was extremely over priced for what was on offer. It’s never good when the menu prices are nowhere to be seen online prior to your arrival. Luckily the hotel was only a few minutes walk from Clifden, there were better dinner options to be found there. No nightly music as the musician was ill, but obviously that can happen. The hotel sounded so much better than what it actually delivered. It seems to be primarily aimed at foreign tourists who will fall for the faux Irish bonhomie.

To say my visit to Abbeyglen Castle Hotel was awesome would be an understatement. Owners and brothers Brian and Ronan Hughes were the ultimate hosts!! From the arrival Prosecco reception in the pub to hear some hotel history and local folklore to the stunning and delicious meals which were included in my rate plan. My room was huge, comfortable and clean with the perfect view. Evenings spent in their pub which included lively piano entertainment, sometimes even owner Brian singing and tickling the keys. It's the type of place where you literally don't want to leave the property and just enjoy exploring the interior or exterior grounds or sitting around the fire with a pint. But you will want to get out because the location is great...walking distance to the town of Clifden, a short drive to the Clifden Castle ruins and not far from Kylemore Abbey (a must see) or to drive the Sky Road Loop (stunning views). This was my 6th visit to Ireland and not only did I fall more in love with the Connemara area but I also found a spot at the Abbeyglen Castle Hotel that I hope to visit time and time again. I spent 20 years in the hospitality industry and if you looked up the definition of that word you would find a picture of Brian and Ronan. They were up early with their guests at breakfast and mingling with everyone at dinner and even after making sure everyone's stay and experience was top notch...and usually calling everyone by name. I can't recommend this place enough and I can't wait to go back, they truly made me feel like family.

This is a hidden gem. We were told about AbbeyGlen by both family and friends that we would thoroughly enjoy the place and we did. We did include both dinner and breakfast and we were not disappointed. Our only regret was that we only stayed one night. Do not miss the Prosecco reception. Brian the hotelier made us feel like we were old friends.

We had a wonderful stay. A beautiful room, excellent bathroom (nice roll top bath and good shower. A very good quality breakfast. At 18:30 there’s a sparkling wine reception, where the owner talks about the local history, which great entertainment and interesting.
