Darwin is the capital and largest city in the Northern Territory in Australia. The city can be easily accessed via Darwin International Airport (DRW), which provides connections between other Australian cities as well as several international destinations. Additionally, cruises to other destinations operate out of Darwin Port.

A tropical destination, Darwin is far removed from the other population centers in the country which makes it an excellent place for a getaway. During the summer months, a popular attraction is the Mindil Beach Sunset Market, a great place to pick up souvenirs and other local products. For spectacular harbor views or a picnic venue, Bicentennial Park is not to be missed either. Other popular attractions include the Museum & Gallery of the Northern Territory and the George Brown Botanic Gardens.

Daring visitors might want to check out Crocosaurus Cove, where crocodiles in captivity can be viewed in an aquarium-like setting. Some visitors elect to be lowered into the crocodile pool while inside a cage – an experience that’s sure to be photo worthy. At the cove, there’s also the option of swimming in a tank while being separated from baby crocodiles by a clear wall.

For a taste of the local culture, head to the Darwin Entertainment Centre or Brown's Mart Theatre. Within Darwin, there are luxury chain hotels, resorts, and even backpacker hostels. There’s sure to be a hotel to suit the needs of every type of guest.
