On the Deck @ Shark Bay

Phil and Kerrie were the best of hosts - they were friendly and welcoming and made our stay in Denham all the more special. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, with a great eye for detail, and with the outside sofa, kitchen and spa, it was all very spacious. We felt very at home there and were sad to leave. The sunsets from the Deck were amazing - as was Phil’s gin!

As many other reviewers have said, this is a fantastic place to stay. From the arrangements prior to arrival right through to check-out, everything was perfect. We stayed for two nights in the blue room. The room was exceptionally comfortable, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The shared cooking area is also great with just about everything you could need (even the bbq is cleaned for you 😀 unlike anywhere else we have stayed). The breakfast hamper goes beyond anything you could wish for and includes cereals, bread, bacon, sausage, eggs, beans etc, plus juices. Lovely to be able to cook it and sit outside to eat with a view of the bush and the sea beyond. Finally, but most importantly, Phil and Kerrie were amazing hosts - ensuring everything was perfect throughout. Phil gave us great information on the area and other places we were due to visit as part of our trip, helped us light the bbq and, of course, is the person who then cleans it (so that we don’t have to). Phil and Kerrie also take care of the local wildlife with water (20+ months of drought make this essential) so emus and kangaroos visit each evening. Sharing this time with them each day is very special and we would not have missed it for anything. We highly recommend On the Deck to anyone looking to stay in Denham, it’s THE best place to stay 😀

This was by far the most amazing place we have stayed on our whole trip around Australia! The location is absolutely stunning and Phil & Kerrie were so welcoming and friendly, we didn’t want to leave! Everything was perfect, can’t recommend highly enough!!

We spent 4 nights here as a base for exploring Shark Bay. This fabulous B&B is on the edge of Denham, overlooking the National Park. It's around a 3 minute drive or a 15 minute walk into the centre of Denham. We booked the yellow room, which had the large decked area outside with the jacuzzi, the big table and communal cooking facilities. We were the only guests at the time, so we had this area to ourselves. The room was spacious with a walk in wardrobe, a large comfortable bed, air-conditioning and tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom had a walk in shower. Phil and Kerrie made us very welcome, they were great hosts. They provide a list of breakfast options the day before. They hand over your selection that evening. There's a good choice of bread, fruit, cereal as well as eggs and bacon which you cook in the communal area. The system works very well. We had a barbecue while we were there, Phil cleans it the next morning. Kangaroos come down in the evenings, we saw a couple of emus too. All in all, we couldn't have been happier with our choice of accommodation in Denham.

The hosts were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast is included, they give you the provisions the night before and you make it yourself when you want. It is a short drive to the town centre (3 minutes). Kangaroos and emus visit at sunset!

We don’t normally stay in B&B accommodation but we were really delighted to have discovered On the Deck. Phil and Kerrie made us very welcome and provided lots of information about the wildlife, much of which could be seen from the Deck, and the local area. Standard of accommodation excellent. Would love to return sometime.

Phil and Kerrie were excellent hosts and made me feel at home. I had an issue with my car and Phil drove me to my tour and fixed the issue. I enjoyed our evening chats with bubbles and the kangaroos. The town is within walking distance the views from the deck are spectacular. The Yellow room had everything I needed and breakfast is provided every morning. If you’re visiting, this is definitely the place to stay.

We stayed with Phil and Kerrie for 4 nights and had a fantastic time. The room was quiet and spacious with its own deck area. The bbq breakfast, where food is provided to cook yourself, is a great idea and allows flexibility according to your day plans. The home is just a short easy walk to cafes and restaurants or the local pub. Phil is very helpful with advice on local tours and dining suggestions. The communal dining area is adjacent to the spa giving ample opportunity to chat with other guests at any time of day. We had a great time and highly recommend the place.

Fantastic opportunity to get closer to Australian wildlife - Emus and Kangaroos visit daily. Worth paying a bit extra for a balcony room so you have unspoiled views across the National park. Good size rooms with lots of extras - rainforest shower, bottled water, great variety of tea and coffee provided. Breakfast is a DIY affair but there is lots of choice - cereal, pre-packed fruits, bread for toast. We chose not to cook breakfast but the out door kitchen is fully equipped.
