Welcoming and friendly. Rooms well equipped with tea coffee etc. Very clean and comfy beds. Very good breakfast. I would definitely recommend this hotel in a beautiful Dunster and also a great base for exploring the area.

I returned to this lovely hotel with the coach company I came with previously. Everything was still as great, no problems at all. Staff & food still amazing & room spotless & perfectly maintained. Such a lovely central spot in the village. Only thing was trip was just for 2 nights!

Another very enjoyable midweek break at the Yarn Market. Caring and attentive staff, wonderful food especially Flo's lemon drizzle sponge and comfy bedrooms. It’s our craft group's home from home. The very large well equipped room, the Spinners Suite, is available for groups to use.

A lovely place to stay. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Owner has excellent local knowledge and really knows about nearby Exmoor Park. He can give very valuable advice and tips about what to see etc; for us, this included telling us about a much straighter and quicker route back to Exeter than going along the winding but nevertheless pretty Exe valley. Hotel is very clean and well-maintained (the interior had obviously very recently been painted, as there was still the faint smell of wood paint). Excellent food, served with appropriate courtesy. Very quiet, with no hint of being on the main street, but then this is a very picturesque north Somerset town, complete with a fascinating 17th century yarn market directly outside the hotel. Just a few minutes down the street and you are at the castle, owned by the National Trust and well worth a visit. Totally recommend the hotel.

Lovely traditional hotel with an excellent staff from top management to servers - they were so helpful at every point of our stay. Excellent food and comfortable rooms. Some of the fittings (e.g. pedal bin, taps) were a bit tired, but the rooms, furniture and bathroom were otherwise well equipped and spotless. Not our first stay and definitely not our last!

We stayed for two nights as a couple meeting with friends. The room was lovely, only downside was the hot water and not very powerful shower, but for a 2 night stay it didn’t matter too much. The staff were really friendly and very helpful. Anthony who runs the hotel couldn’t do enough for us. We were on a stargazing weekend but sadly due to the weather didn’t see any stars, so other things were arranged to make up for this which was really appreciated. We had a fabulous couple of days and Dunster is a lovely medieval village with a Castle at the end of the road.

The best things about this stay for 11 nights were the incredibly friendly, helpful staff, great food and historic atmosphere. There is a lovely garden to sit in as well and the hotel provided everything and more that a hotel with this ranking is supposed to do. It is obviously a very old building and has character, rather than highly modern characterless features, as you would expect in a building such as this in the beautiful historic area of Dunster. We were not there for a holiday as we live locally but we would be very happy to go back there.

We visited this hotel to participate in the SW Coast 50k challenge and our key requirements were a clean comfy bed, good shower and hearty breakfast. Sadly the hotel failed on almost all counts! The beds and hotel in general were very clean but bed springs could be felt in both beds, showers were not available between 10pm and 7 am and were not working at all on day 2 due to a previous flood. ( after we had got dressed and come down to breakfast we were offered another room to shower in )The dehumidifiers were left running in the dining room during breakfast! Although breakfast was billed as being 8-9, by 8.30 on Sunday most breakfast had run out so v limited and uninspiring choice. Cardboard cups and no fridge in bedroom were disappointing and the sink was so small that the kettle had to be filled with a cup! Glorious setting but a lot needs to be done here to bring this hotel up to a 3 star level in the 21st century! Thank you for the discount to compensate for broken shower but really not good enough!

A wonderful reception by the owner of the hotel and the very friendly staff. They were waiting for us (a group arriving by bus) and we felt very welcome. Everything was well organised and dinner was great, good choice of dishes. A special thank you to Dana, who served dinner with a great sense of humour! And special thanks to the owner of the hotel who volunteered to give us a tour of Exmoor. We felt very well taken care of in this typically English hotel.
