AI Summary

Guests enjoy spacious rooms with cozy beds, great views, and modern amenities in a central Chalten location near dining and hiking. Staff are multilingual and friendly, providing excellent service. However, some find it pricey with limited amenities and subpar food quality.

I wish I could give this hotel a better review because it has some very good points. It looks very pretty from the outside, sort of like a Swiss chalet. The gardens are immaculately kept and very pretty and the lobby of the hotel is also pretty. The breakfast buffet is good. The staff members are pleasant. Also, you can walk to shops and restaurants in the area. Cleanliness and quiet are my two most important requirements for a hotel room. The hotel met the cleanliness requirement, but it didn't even come close to meeting the quietness requirement. We were on the ground floor. The walls are so thin, you can hear much of what people say in the halls and in their rooms. Every time someone flushes the toilet or runs the shower you can hear it. Unfortunately, we had booked four nights here. I didn't sleep for those four nights. I don't know how the noise level is on other floors, but it was awful on the ground floor. Because it is so noisy, I can’t give this hotel a good review. If a lot of noise doesn’t bother you, then you will be fine with this hotel. However, if you are like me and need a quiet environment to sleep, I recommend choosing a different hotel.

Arguably the best hotel in town with a decent restaurant. Rooms are basic but comfortable and service is very friendly. Centrally located in Chalten with superb views. Not cheap but worth it for the comparables in town.

Chalten Suites is a nice hotel, but not enough to justify a rate of 320usd per night. Located right on the main street, it has comfortable rooms (though not very big and feeling a bit empty in terms of decor). Staff is wonderful and very helpful. However: - Rooms are awfully hot, we tried to open the window at night but the wind can be loud, so you either sweat or live with the noise. Apparently the room thermostat does nothing - Cleaning of the room should be improved. They made our bed and replace towels, but they never replaced the used cups we used for tea so we always had to wash them ourselves. They also never leave you with more than one roll of the thinnest toilet paper, which is annoying. - Breakfast could use a bit more variety. Also, I ordered 3 times a cappuccino and they only got it right once. Other times it was just a terrible blend of coffee and milk without any foam. You also always have to confirm the evening before what time you want to have breakfast, which sometimes can be bothersome. - Laundry is a joke. It was returned to us fast, which was nice, but the state of it was unacceptable. Some socks had soil stains which had not been removed at all and worse of all, the other items such as t-shirts had not been folded but instead literally stored as a crumpled, wrinkled ball. I did not expect it to be ironed but a decent folding is the bare minimum! - Internet is shaky but I guess it’s a town problem rather than hotel, just be aware of it. Honestly, had the rate been around 200 or so, I I would have happily given 4-5 stars. But if you charge this much, you need to ensure your services are top notch!

Beautiful hotel with an excellent breakfast. The only thing we did not like it, they said one night they are going to close the door, and we are tourist we wanted to hang out around the city and get back to our room any time we wanted. At the end they leave the door open. We were very happy :)

Chalten Suites is a 5 minute walk from the bus station, yet on the main street of El Chalten. We enjoyed our lovely room in the new wing with a large walk-in shower, comfortable bed and pillows, 2 for each guest, and black out curtains. There was a kettle, hooray, and the minibar is well stocked. Best part for me is the floor to ceiling glass window and balcony where we can see Mt FitzRoy and Cerro Torre, as well as people watch on the main street. Breakfast is wonderful spread especially if you have a sweet tooth as the cakes and bite size cookies are fantastic. We had a delicious meal in the newly built glass restaurant on the second floor. The 2 receptionists I met spoke good English and were warm and helpful. Definitely a great choice to stay while in El Chalten.

We stayed three nights after our great W Trek at Torres Del Paine and one night in Calafate. We loved having our own bathroom and real beds and real restaurant food after the refugios in Chile! Chalten Suites was comfortable and central (though the town is very compact), with some nice staff. Our double room had a sweet balcony overlooking town and peekaboo view of mountains. The bathroom was fine though our shower head needed fixing. We got all our laundry done overnight for just $10 a large bag--a great service! Breakfast buffet was very good in a bright, spacious dining room. Our only disappointment was Christmas Eve dinner, which was more style than substance. We had been quoted $49, but we weren't told that's only if we paid in US cash. Paying by credit card was $65 and by pesos was $85. This was the most explicit example of the power of the US dollar in Argentina! El Chalten and Glaciares National Park are fantastic. Note the big trailheads are on the other side of town so you have nearly a mile more to go after finishing Laguna de Los Tres!

Chalten Suites in the centre of El Chalten is more of an upmarket hotel more for people seeking comfort than just a place to throw a sleeping bag onto the floor. The rooms are quaint and spacious enough and the bathroom is fine. Water pressure in the shower is satisfactory. The bed is comfortable and the heating works as it should in such a cold place. The included breakfasts were excellent, especially to charge your body up for a long hike. The staff are extremely helpful and do go out of their way to try to ensure your stay goes well. They will organise shuttles to walks and offer advice for those unfamiliar with the local attractions. When the lovely receptionist mentions a shorter walk to Laguna Capri, ignore that and go with the longer walk option (see review on Chalten walks). There are only a few negatives for the hotel. Top of the list is the poor Wi-Fi, which is annoyingly unreliable. However, that could be a location problem for the whole town. That said, in all my weeks of travel throughout South America, this is the only place with bad Wi-Fi. Next is the cheap toilet paper, a silly thing really as it is so unnecessary. Especially when you have to use twice as much for the same job. Lastly, the restaurant in the hotel is limited. It has a nice ambience and good views but the menu is limited and lacking in national dishes. I paid $US200 per night and stayed 3 nights. For that fee, one would expect better internet. Overall, there aren’t many flash hotels in El Chalten and Chalten Suites does provide a necessary service for tourists rather than adventurers. As such, it is a very good option if travelling to this part of Patagonia. Check out my other reviews of places, hotels and experiences throughout South America.
