Town: Ella Time: October Rooms: sagarika and galu Kumari (infamous rooms with the GAP view) Boarding: half board (dinner and breakfast) Holiday: with parents and boyfriend In one word: exceptional Food is amazing, kudos to chef. Was able to change around the menu based on our preferences and food allergies. Staff are absolutely wonderful, friendly and accommodating. Let the staff know if you have any issues, they will endeavour to provide the best experience for you. Book these rooms! We had the view of the mini Adams peak and the Ella rock (with the gap inbetween) phenomenal to wake up to and see the sunrise. We are walking distance to the train station, and the main strip of shops with restaurants, sim card shops, tourist buys. Tuks (like open taxis) are easy to find. It was raining during the our stay, but the hotel was so lovely that we didn't mind staying in at all. Staff gave us all umbrellas when we did want to walk outside. I have to admit, we absolutely loved our stay here. The people were so accommodating and friendly. The location is on a steep hill, most cars won't make it up but walking down and up takes about 5 minutes or a tub tuk can get you there. The view is amazing and worth the walk. It's so close to the main road and close to main attractions (about 20min walk) the room was comfortable, warm, clean. The breakfast was some fruit, with eggs made according to your choice, some toast and they even let us try the coconut pancakes which were so yummy. Everything was amazing. We were so happy there and will definitely stay there again.

The location is excellent it’s a 10 minute walk to town, down the train track. Adams peak and the waterfall are in close proximity too, staff were really lovely &very friendly, helpful and attentive. The view is gorgeous on a good day/morning. The bed and pillows are unfortunately very hard, it is also extremely loud with dogs barking and howling throughout the night and early mornings, you can hear other rooms quite loudly, sometimes music too so if you’re a light sleeper (like me!) I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Also, I’m not sure if we’re missing something but the breakfast was quite basic compared to the reviews and what we were expecting. The rooms itself is extremely basic, no bed side tables, no plug for the sink, no hooks etc just things which would make it more practical. The bathroom is a wet room too which isn’t ideal. Overall, we think there would be better options or the rooms needs a little attention to detail and some homely features.

A true paradise! The experience in this delightful guest house was fantastic. I recently stayed three nights at Ella Green cottages with my soon (13) and we had a lovely experience. The cozy cottages are nestled in the heart of nature, surrounded by lush greenery, which gave it a serene and peaceful jungle atmosphere with birds and small monkeys playing around. The cottages themselves were cozy and comfortable, with the necessary amenities to make the stay comfortable. We enjoyed the delicious home-cooked breakfast each morning. Pancakes, toast, fresh fruits, omelets and various traditional Sri Lankan foods. The host was very friendly and welcoming and went out of their way to make os feel comfortable and ensure that our stay was enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend Ella Green cottages to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat amidst nature.
