Hotels near Shoppers Drug Mart in Fall River

Location is good. Convenience to airport is nice. I stayed in Room 351. This room (and ones like it) are hazardous. Immediately after entering this room there is a noticeable step down (and the room is not very large). Similarly there is a noticeable step up to the bathroom entrance AND to exit to the balacony. On my first attempt at going to the bathroom I tripped on the step and fell face first in to the wall. Definitely a horrid start to the stay. As a retired engineer I looked at the room and realized that the 'sunken' part of the room was not providing any value and could be easily removed. The floor could easily be built up so that there is one level common to the entrance, door to the bathroom and exit to the balcony. Nothing would be lost in terms of room usage and guest safety would be greatly improved. Shame on Ascend and Inn on the Lake for sacrificing guest safety. Despite having a very long day and being exhausted, the bed was not conducive to sleep. On the previous night I had spent at a Wyndham hotel and its bed was so comfy it was hard to wake up. Inn on the Lake provided uncomfortable sleep and as a result I did not sleep much. And finally, the breakfast. Choice Hotels advertises a Grab n Go Breakfast. Hmmmmmm. Cold muffin and cold yogurt is what equals a Grab n Go Breakfast. Not even any fruit offerings. I don't stay at the hotel for its free breakfast offering, but a muffin and yogurt is not a breakfast - no matter how it is advertised. I have stayed at Inn on the Lake previously and really enjoyed it. But that was a different room. After this last episode I will drive longer and stay somewhere safer.

Our third stop on our tour of the maritimes was the Hotel Halifax. It had a great location close to the pier and it was connected to the indoor walkway that connected to the mall, the ******, and other hotels and businesses downtown. This was very convenient on the day it rained during our stay! The rooms were very spacious and had very comfortable beds. No issues with hot water, air conditioning or internet. An unexpected bonus was having a water refill machine on each floor to fill up reusable water bottles. There was no breakfast included but the hotel was connected to the indoor food court at the mall and there were lots of restaurants nearby. At the hotel you can pay for parking at the indoor parking garage connected to the hotel, and it allowed in and out privileges. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommended to anyone wanting to stay in the waterfront area!

Friendly staff, excellent customer service. Stayed on 2 separate nights and rooms were clean and comfortable. Free breakfast was a bonus - would recommend the breakfast sandwiches. The hotel also offered nice touches like complimentary tea and coffee available 24/7 in the lobby and snacks for purchase. Parking was also very convenient.

One of best Courtyard's in North America, as the hotel feels and looks new. Checkin was very quick and friendly. Treated this Bonvoy Titanium member very well. Room was spotless and a good size (2 queen beds) with very large HD TV. Excellent wifi speed. Bed was super comfortable and I got a goodnight sleep. Everything was in working order and I appreciated the hotel doing its part for the environment with eco-friendly refill toiletries in the bathroom. The only sit-down food and beverage option is Bistro. It's very limited in offerings and expensive ($6 for a bagel with cream cheese). You are better off going to Tim Horton's or one of the many other places just across the street including McDonald's, The Keg, Montana's, Jack Astor, Thai Express and Quiznos to name a few. Location is under 20 minutes from the airport which is super convenient. I would definitely return.

Well, I stayed at the Holiday Inn on John Savage for the week of March Break for Business travel. Frankly, I do not know how the staff maintained the premises so well. Sure with the place loaded with kids, there was a little child having fun noise but nothing that kept me from sleeping well, or a distraction from my work. Kudos to the Hotel team for dealing with the ”onslaught” on families so well.....remarkable job under extreme circumstances....(JOAN!!!!!) Funny, even during the amazingly hectic times, Joan and her team had left me a lovely note and welcoming treat. As a business traveler who stays in LOTS and LOTS of hotels...it really means a lot when you can come ”home” at night to a welcoming friendly and professional family. I can't applaud the team and amazing leadership at Holiday Inn on John Savage enough. As for me, and because of the awesome teamwork at Holiday Inn on John Savage, our Company (over 200 employees in 4 eastern Provinces) have selected Holiday Inn as our preferred ”away from home family”. I just left Holiday Inn Dieppe where we now hold all our manager's meetings and all managers stay there for the days of the meetings. It was all because of Michelle's and Joan's wonderful leadership and excellent customer service over the years I have been coming. Finally, on my way home, I had to overnight in Dartmouth due to flight restrictions just last night. Did I stay out by the Airport which was WAY more convenient? NO. I stayed with my family away from home in Dartmouth who, though I was only staying one quick night, still remembered me! Always with a note and a treat. Amazing customer service. So, Michelle, Joan, and the team..... thank You for making my business travels such a pleasant experience. Finally, for a business traveler who stays in many hotels all over Canada and primarily in Eastern Canada.....there are certainly lessons in customer service that can be gleaned from the John Savage Team........... Very good, the breakfast is good and the variety is richer. The night view of the room looking out is not bad.
