It's hard to put into words how much my husband, toddler, and I enjoyed our stay at Hotel Lungarno. It is easily the best hotel we have ever stayed at and we consider our time there among the highlights of our time in Italy. After we left Florence, we found ourselves missing the hotel and the wonderful staff there--it truly felt like a home away from home. Every aspect of our stay was flawless, from the location, to the beautiful rooms and property, to the food, to the toiletries included with the room. However, it is the warm and thoughtful staff that make the Hotel Lungarno truly exceptional. From providing baby toiletries each night, to storing our stroller downstairs, to giving our son small gifts throughout our stay, the Hotel Lungarno staff welcomed our 20 month old son and it meant so much to my husband and I. If you are traveling with young children, you will not find a more wonderful choice. Every staff member was so friendly and helpful and truly went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable. A special thank you to Simone, Imran, and Giuseppe for treating us so well.

Can be described as perfect. Three nights in Florence, 2 nights PORTRAIT, 1 night to experience the four seasons, compare the two hotels, give the following suggestions: 1) Service: Say service first, personal feeling, PORTRAIT service is more cordial and enthusiastic. There is WELCOME DRINK at the door, with beer and red wine and other drinks. There is a doorman from Russia who is very enthusiastic and can really describe himself as a guest. CHECK IN is not the front desk of the hotel. It is a large living room. When guests sit on the sofa, there will be service personnel to go through the formalities. If you leave, you will also ask if you want to bring bottled water. Four seasons, no one can say bad, but it is very standard and professional, but there is no temperature. PORTRAIT won. 2) Location: The four seasons are far from the attractions, but not far away. The distance cannot be said to be a weak item. The hotel has a garden, but it is not very big, but it is okay (refer to the size of Shanghai Garden Hotel). Moreover, mainly, the garden layout is not very special. PORTRAIT is on the edge of the old bridge, the most central location, everything is convenient. PORTRAIT won. 3) Price: Four seasons more than 7900 35M2, no early; PORTRAIT 4500 one night / 4900 one night, 40M2, but the hotel gave me a rise, lived 53 room type, including 2 early. PORTRAIT won again. 4) Room decoration: the room, the four seasons are European style, or the law-abiding; PORTRAIT is more modern, also comes with a simple kitchen cabinet, you can eat yourself. Personally, the style is like PORTRAIT. 2 bedding products are good. 5) Four seasons, because the price is much more expensive, my heart naturally demands him. Service I scored 4 points because it was not special and the price was not good. The Michelin-starred PALAGIO restaurant has also tried, and can only say that it is okay, not surprising, and quite satisfactory. Dinner is not eaten at PORTRAIT, the hotel people will ask you if you like to eat, and will also recommend local good restaurants and help guests book. 6) Four seasons should be expensive in many additions? Housed in a beautiful old building in a very central location. The character of the building has been well maintained in the public areas and our suite had lovely contemporary decor which mixed perfectly with the 18th century painted ceiling. Within easy walking distance of all the main attractions and plenty of restaurants and cafes. Great value for money. But best of all has to be the amazing staff - extremely friendly, patient and courteous and nothing was too much trouble for them. Would definitely recommend this wonderful hotel.

When we arrived at Hotel La Gemma, it had been opened a grand total of 15 days. But no one could tell because Gianluca, the Hotel Manager, was in charge and everything was already in full swing and running smoothly. Gianluca himself showed us to our suite and made us feel welcomed. He was warm, engaging and very helpful throughout our 3-night stay. He even showed me how to make the stamps stick on my postcard by gently peeling off the back of them - they were adhesive like stickers. Before Gianluca came to the rescue, I was licking the back of the stamps like a fast-melting gelato but they still wouldn't stick. Gianluca also patiently walked me through the Tren Italia website to book our train tickets to Venice - all on my mobile phone. Eduardo at the Front Desk was earnest, lively and of great assistance. At breakfast, Luca the waiter was very good at explaining the extensive menu and choices available. He was solicitous and anticipated our needs. We missed him when he was not on duty. The hotel’s location is excellent, right in the heart of Florence and a stone’s throw from the Post Office. It is a very short walk to Piazza Republica, Ponte Vecchio and the beautiful landscape of the River Arno. The rooms are very well-appointed; huge comfy beds with fluffy pillows, a wide array of fragrant toiletries and, thick body-encompassing towels. The impression is one of old-world sophistication and luxury. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning to Hotel La Gemma.

This is a lovely, clean hotel with good facilities and location and an excellent breakfast. It has a very traditional decor, with a modern bathroom. Our room was pleasant enough but the window faced a wall and had huge shutters which we couldn't open. Hence, there was hardly any natural light in the room. I also found the staff a bit unfriendly, especially at the reception desk. There was no greeting if you walked past, and they did seem slightly condescending - not the usual friendliness you would expect on a reception desk. The staff at breakfast were much nicer. I liked this hotel, but a little friendliness and a smile go a long way and would have enhanced our stay.

I arrived early and the offered to store my luggage at the reception and they delivered to my room, that’s nice. There was no briefing on the breakfast arrangements at check in, they assume bay you know. My room is an end unit with a single bed, which is good for me, the bathroom is pleasantly big, and I do enjoyed the bath. Shower is good too with good water pressure. I found a pair of slippers inside the drawer of the bedside table instead of in the closet, they are comfortable. The whole 3 nights I stayed without Wi-Fi, they couldn’t fix it! The electric outlet has three holes so you need to bring the specific adapter as there no usb port to charge gadgets. I changed mine in the bathroom as my two pint adapters worked there. No kettle in the room but they kindly delivered some hot water to my room when I requested. The second night they told me to go downstairs to get it. TV has international news channels except CNN but that’s ok for me. Lifts are efficient.

The location of the room is good, in the urban area, the room can be considered as a big, very fine hotel! The lobby of the hotel is very stylish. Breakfast dining environment is also good! The layout of the room, a family of three 👨‍👩‍👧 will not be crowded when staying! The child's bed is on the other side of the room. Good space, three suitcases don't feel too crowded! The bathroom space is not small, the shower room is very interesting, it is flexible and retractable! The hotel's air conditioner is a bit hot, and the air conditioner is turned off, but I still feel a bit hot! Everything else is fine! Very cost-effective hotel.

The old house was remodeled, and it has a good taste. The room is large, the bed is soft, and the bathroom is not small. In the city, there is no parking lot visually. This restaurant must be ordered with breakfast. The rooftop scenery is excellent.

Beds were very comfortable junior suite nice sized. King bed and single bed in a separate area - bathroom in between. The bathroom was nice sized and very well appointed. Shower over the bath and was powerful The only down side in the bathroom was the shower door - it is very short so it didn’t prevent the water going onto the floor. On the first nights - no tissues in the bathroom bed not dressed properly but - saw housekeeping supervisor on duty the following day - different level of room servicing - the sheets changed, tissues in the bathroom, plenty of towels etc. plenty of shower gels/ shampoos and body lotions every day. Such a difference when supervised Breakfast was basic enough with hot scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon and toast. 3 cereals, 3 cakes, and 3 types of croissants 3 juices and 2 T/coffee machines. Plenty of condiments available. We didn’t use the bar or restaurant

I almost did not write this review because I did not want to share what a great find this is, but the delightful and warm owners Andrew and Paola deserve all the business they can handle. This small hotel is situated in a picturesque classic Florentine building facing the Pitti Palace so it is a great location. The price was incredibly reasonable for a large room, ”the Duomo,” that was gigantic by European standards, with a very comfortable and firm bed and all modern room conveniences. Both Andrew and Paola made themselves very available. When because of a strike, I thought I might need to stay in Florence another day (one could have far worse problems), Andrew immediately swung into action and was ready to refer me to an associate's hotel as they were fully booked. This is a 4 star operation disguised as a 3 star hotel, with 2 star prices to boot! Highly recommended for the discerning traveler
