I happened to chose a night when the water heater broke and hot or lukewarm water couldn't be guaranteed. Antique charm with history so do not look for luxuries of pillow top mattress or fridge in the room. No view as windows were all iced over.

Very friendly staff. Rooms were chilly and need more outlets. Appears newer in picture than in person. Overall nice stay.

I was unsure what our stay would be like because I had never been to Fort Madison and we were there for my daughters barrel racing.
I was so easy to get to, so easy to get in and were immediately greeted by staff and shown to our room. The room was better than expected. It smelled clean and was temp ready. The shower was amazing water pressure, the beds were very comfortable and our view was the river.
There is a train right outside but was not too loud and not too often.
Checkout was easy as leaving our door open. Breakfast is small but sufficient. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone.

Lovely inn. Great unique location .thoughtful arrangements. Clean well decorated rooms. A fun short stay, hope to be back. Easy parking. On hwy 61.

It is in a unique location and I felt safe. A little train noise through the night, but not unbearable. The room was provided with a sound machine and ear plugs (we didn't us).
Breakfast was OK, nothing special. The coffee was not strong enough for me. We had a T.V., but apparently was having issues and not working. Good thing we had a very busy day and it was only one night, so it was not a big deal for us.

This is one beautiful property. Greeted by the friendly staff, was showed to our large clean room and given a token for a free drink in the lounge. Bed was comfortable. TV was great with quality picture and lots of channel choices. We had a nice view of the river and the fort, Breakfast was continental with quality options. Lounge had lots of cool decor and had museum quality items. If you like trains you will love it. Don't worry, even though it is right next to the tracks you barely hear them.
Can't wait to go back again!

Great experience. The hotel manager called me after booking to get me into a better/cooler room during a heat wave.
The hotel overlooks the Mississippi River and adjacent railroad tracks. The windows appear to have extra soundproofing so that very little train noise comes through.
