One of the main reason why I booked this 4 star hotel was that it said it had a large space gym area as mentioned before booking, so I assumed it being a 4 start Hotel it will have decent weights and machines. However, when I arrived, the gym didn’t have a pull-up bar or a cable machine, the dumbbell weights were very basic that went up to only 10 kg. That is absolutely disappointing considering this was a 4 start Hotel. To be honest the multiuse cable machine is pretty much all you need as it has everything to be exercise all your body parts! I love my pullups hence I had to find a way to do them so I found a metal gate just outside the gym in the tennis court believe it or not I used the gate frame to do my pullups (see picture). Another downfall is that it didn’t have a water fountain in the gym area. You had to go up to the reception and buy bottle of water for €2. Good luck to those who suffer from quick dehydration. I expected the room to have a kettle which you wouldn’t think twice whether it will have it or not. But guess what? You have to pay extra to have a kettle in your room during your stay between €5 to €7. That’s just jokes, I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry! Other than that, the staff were very friendly and the location is close to the sea, and approximately 11 minutes drive to the main city area in Funchal. I’d say the breakfast is good, but the same time pretty standard what you would get in a 3 star hotel. I was expecting better variety. The breakfast is always the same every day. Hardly never changes. However, the dinner menu has a rotation. Overall, I would give this place 3.5 out of 5! I hope they can accommodate the above the next time I visit.

first of all, the hotel has a wonderful view of the city of Funchal and the Bay - the hotel staff is very nice and helpful. large rooms - the only minus - the rooms do not have an electric kettle. There is a PALADAR restaurant next to the hotel - where chef Ben serves dishes worthy of 5 stars, for me the best food during my stay in Madeira - prices in the restaurant are ordinary - like in any other restaurant. The dishes are presented so beautifully, you can eat with your eyes. If I ever come back to Madeira, I will definitely stay at this hotel and I will 200% only eat at the Paladar restaurant. I rate the hotel 9/10 and the restaurants 15/10☺️

Pretty hotel with a fabulous breakfast and a very delicious restaurant for dinner. Very friendly staff which speaks a lot of languages. Pretty rooms with a wonderful pool and a near supermarket and bus stop. And a shuttle that brings you to into the city center.

We have just thoroughly enjoyed our thirteenth stay in the Madeira Panoramico Hotel. Every member of staff is friendly, helpful and efficient, they all take pride in making your stay a pleasant one and are the main reason why we return over and over again! The hotel is situated a little way out of town and as long as you can manage the steep hills, it’s walkable to the town and also down to the lido area. We are of the ‘older generation’ and welcome the exercise. A courtesy bus to town is provided which runs for six days of the week and can be booked at reception. We always book a sea view room so that we can see the amazing view over the bay and wake to the sun rising over the Ilhas Desertas. This is a great hotel to visit for the New Year fireworks display. Breakfast is good and varied, offering both cooked and continental choices, it can be enjoyed on the veranda or in the main restaurant. We usually just book bed and breakfast choosing to eat some nights in the buffet or in the a la carte restaurant, the Paladar. We would recommend the O’Regional restaurant in the town and O’Dragoeiro on the way down to the Lido. Best place to people watch is the Golden Gate cafe/restaurant in the centre of town. The cable car trip up to Monte and the Monte Palace tropical gardens is worth doing. The tropical gardens are spectacular and the newly refurbished cafe at the bottom of the gardens is a lovely place to enjoy a coffee and the views. You can also get a bus (no.48) to Monte just uphill from the hotel, or no’s 20/21 from the town. The weather in Madeira is variable but this March we have been pleasantly surprised with the good weather. I usually check on the Madeira Webcams to see what other tourists are wearing to judge what clothes to pack. All we need to do now is to plan when we will be back!

The hotel is located out of the centre which gives you great views of the town centre, sea and the hills. The hotel is clean and the rooms have a good size comfortable bed , I think a little more storage would be better in the rooms. The staff are professional and friendly and were very helpful. We stayed bed and breakfast, the breakfast had plenty of options and fresh fruit and the sun terrace is a great place to eat your breakfast and take in the fantastic view to start your day. We did not eat at the hotel other than breakfast. The hotel run a shuttle bus down to town and a return journey to the hotel to save you from the walk back up the hills. The pool bar and pool area were very clean and once again had a great view , the pool bar closed at 6pm which I think is a bit early maybe hours are extended in summer time. The hotel has a large cocktail bar which has a happy hour every day , we used this a couple of times but even if you miss cocktail hour drinks are reasonably priced. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel , but if we return to Madeira we would probably try and stay a little closer to the town or Lido.

We went through TUI and paid extra for a sea view room. We found the hotel to be excellent! All the staff were friendly and reception very helpful. We were bed and breakfast only. The breakfast was fresh and plentiful. We only ate dinner once, which was the buffet for 29 Euros and it was a very high standard, with freshly cooked fish, pork and beef dishes. The pool area was relaxing and the temperature of the water was fine once you start swimming. There is some road noise, but I would think most areas in Funchal would suffer with this. Tips: there is a courtesy bus to Funchal but you have to book an hour in advance. The service bus runs once an hour till late and costs 1.95, bus stops immediately outside the hotel. If you walk down the hill, look out for some railings near the green vegetation, from here take the very steep footpath downhill, and over 2 roads, passing the TUI garden hotel (keep going) and finally get to an area of bars and restaurants. It took us 10 mins from the top and a work out getting back again!!

The hotel was fine, the staff were lovely and very helpful. The hotel was clean and the room was comfortable. However the food was absolutely awful. It was consistently bad for the full 10days of our stay. Everything was either overcooked or raw, it had no real flavour and the appearance was poor, no idea who was running the kitchen but it definitely wasn’t a chef! We had to pay 16 euros for the in room safe, never before have I ever been charged for a safe. It’s a four star hotel for goodness sake! Also there was a complimentary tea and coffee tray in our room but was never replenished. I heard a lady ask at reception if she could have some tea and coffee for her room, she was told that it’s only complimentary on arrival and then they charge 3 euros a day. Not what you would expect from a 4 star.

This is a beautifully presented and gleamingly clean hotel, with warm and welcoming staff on the front desk. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and there is a satisfying spread of food on offer at the breakfast buffet, with good coffee! We loved the warm indoor pool and the attractive outdoor pool terrace, and also the exceptionally good value half-price 'happy hour' every night in the cosy bar - no miserly half measures of alcohol in the cocktails though - suitably potent! The hotel is a relatively challenging 30 to 40 minute walk uphill from the harbour and downtown area of Funchal, which we relished, but they do offer several scheduled free bus shuttles per day if you'd rather not tackle that by foot. This elevated location rewards handsomely, though, with sensational vistas - panoramic indeed - especially if you have a sea view room with balcony. It was a perfect spot for watching Funchal's spectacular new year's eve fireworks. The only reason we award four instead of the full five stars is for relatively trivial things; our shower wasn't great - though satisfactory - on site parking was a little hit and miss and we were occasionally blocked in, the in-room TV was underwhelmingly small, and we were charged extra for use of the safe, which feels a bit mean spirited, though may well be common practice in these parts. These things certainly wouldn't discourage us from considering staying here again.
