Kingsknowes Hotel

We spent a weekend at the Kingsknowes enjoying the Scottish Borders hospitality and some of their beautiful towns and countryside. Staying at the Kingnsknowes felt like being hosted in a family mansion. It is plausible that the owners have preserved this character while providing all the hotel amenities gracefully and discreetly. Our room was charming, overlooking the garden and conservatory. The modern bathroom was spacious and had a painted stained glass window. Everything was in absolute cleanliness. Regarding food, we must highlight the a la carte breakfast, served in an elegant Victorian room with pleasant views. We loved the detail of the tablecloths on the tables and the nice cutlery. The service, including the bar and restaurant, was impeccable but friendly. For those travelling by train from Edinburgh, the arrival station is Galashiels. The town is a short distance from the hotel, which can be easily reached by taxi or by taking the X95 bus at the Interchange facility in front of the train station. When in Galashiels, we suggest to visit the museum 'The Great Tapestry of Scotland.' Also nearby is the picturesque town of Melrose and the ruins of its famous Abbey, now under renovation. But for us, the best walk was touring the beautiful banks of the River T**** and visiting Abbotsford, the house and gardens of the writer Sir Walter Scott, which are fantastic. The house is within walking distance of the Kingsknowes Hotel, just across the river. To summarise, the Galashiels area and the Kingsknowes Hotel were a pleasant experience that we would repeat and recommend.

One of our favourite hotels to stay in. The bedrooms are very comfortable and spacious with a modern bathroom. The food is excellent and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. There is plenty of parking available and many local walks nearby.

We have visited this hotel several times over the past few years , we almost feel like family. The staff are always very friendly , professional and attentive. Rooms are clean and comfortable and plenty of safe parking. The breakfast is delicious and freshly cooked and the restaurant food is of a high standard. Without hesitation I would recommend this hotel..

5/5 lovely big old house, not been updated to usual boutique hotel, it feels homely, warm, clean, friendly staff and delicious food and lovely grounds, would recommend this hotel and I will definitely come again.......................

I've stayed in some fabulous 5 star hotels all over the world but the Kingsknowes 3 star hotel is my favourite. The rooms are lovely, the staff are exceptional and the food is superb. It is like a home from home. We have stayed here as a family in the past and this time four of us stayed for two nights - up from London for my mother's funeral. The funeral party came back to the Kingsknowes and we had a superb reception. The staff, without exception, went over and above to make sure everything went to plan. I cannot fault this hotel in anyway.

My stay at the Kingsknowe Hotel was faultless. My room and en- suite were immaculate. Breakfast and evening meal were excellent and the staff were delightful.. Highly recommended. I look forward to visiting again in the near future. Wishing everyone in the hotel a Happy and healthy New Year.

Very good. The food is really good it's way better than the price you pay. The staff are fantastic. The building and grounds just take you away from the bland chain hotels on a motorway junction. The room was spotless. It's like a museum, so if you like that Harry Potter look. Stay here. Will be back when I'm in Gala. Kinda nice no-chain hotels in Gala got to find this gem as too often now you take the easy chain route. Turns out that some effort in finding local hotels pays off. Loved it! Zero faults. Perfect.

This was our second stay at the Kingsknowes Hotel . . We stayed last July as we were attending a wedding in Galashiels and we couldn’t wait to come back for a longer visit. There is absolutely nothing which isn’t perfect about this hotel . . The decor, the rooms (we have stayed in Room 14 and Room 17), the amazing views . . The hotel is warm and inviting, a lovely fire burning all day in the bar, cosy and warm bedrooms, whatever time of day or night . . The food is amazing, every meal we have had has been top quality . . But most of all the staff . . They are absolutely fantastic. They constantly go out of their way to make sure you have the best stay, always friendly and polite, nothing is too much trouble . . I can honestly say that the service is impeccable . . Can’t wait to go back ❤️

Yet again another perfect stay in Kingsknowes for us. My husband has a disability and we are always looked after symapthetically with the minimum of fuss. They do it just right! Fabulous room, food and we just love the bar. Can't wait for our next little trip to Kingsknowes.
