Grand Hotel Fasano & Villa Principe Reviews

This is a special place. Stunning property, meticulously maintained and managed, with genuinely warm service (not universally the case with 5* in Italy). Expensive but you get what you pay for. It’s superb. Only downside is that it’s a historic property and you need to accept - ideally, welcome - its quirks. But the things that matter - plumbing, electrics and HVAC - all work faultlessly.

It is a 2-hour drive from Venice Airport. The lakeside environment is beautiful and clean. The hotel has a Michelin restaurant, and my wife is very satisfied. The facilities in the entire room are quite satisfactory and are relatively new and clean in Europe. I went to a SPA and the service was okay. The swimming pool is relatively small, and the entire hotel is not large.

We spent 2 nights in the hotel. The hotel is very nice, beautifully maintained. The staff are completely professional and helpful. We enjoyed our stay, from the breakfast, which was very varied to the wellness center, which could therefore be open longer than 19:00. The only thing we were disappointed about was our room, namely the bathroom. I understand that it is a historic building, but even the bathroom in a 3* really looks better. And one more detail, when you check out, you don't do it at the reception as is customary, but they take you to the "office" where they are very nice, but you look at the work "mess" and strewn files.

Wonderful hotel in an amazing location with incredible staff. This place is really top class, the staff are all amazing and brilliantly attentive. The restaurants are incredible also, Pescartore being our favourite. Stefano and the concierge team recommended some great local restaurants and places to visit. One of the best hotels we have stayed in.

The Grand Hotel Fasano is a wonderful place and fulfills all needs you could have. The house and it’s site are very beautiful and the team is highly skilled and very engaged. The Barchef has an incredible knowledge about drinks.

Very elegant hotel with wonderful staff amazing amenities located beautifully directly by the lake. Amazing views from rooms, bar and restaurant. Very nice Spa. Great fine dining restaurant with very decent value for the price and extremely friendly staff. Remarkable breakfast buffet and awesome outdoor patio overlooking the lake. We will come back soon.

Beautiful hotel on shores of lake Garda. Outstanding service & excellent meals in restaurants BUT I did not like the live trapped white birds in a cage in the main reception. Why? All guests I spoke to didn’t like it and the staff were powerless to release them. I would love to go again but not whilst the birds are there

It is the real gem! Prestigious, very nice and cosy! One of the best Hotels I ever been! If you are looking for a real break, pure joy and tranquility than don’t hesitate! Stuff is really top and very friendly so you feel welcomed and pleasant. SPA is huge and carefully designed to every detail.

The rooms on the ground floor (outside terrace) are suitable only for kids. There is no privacy and views of the Lake are obscured by tents and people. Couples would not leave curtains open to enjoy the view as there are always people outside the room. Toilets in the room are not private and rooms under the bar area get a lot of noise from the bar terrace above the room. One word of advice. Demand a room at a higher level with a private balcony. Some people, families, may like the easy access to the garden area, pool and outdoor terrace. But this is not suitable for couples wanting privacy. There is an additional issue with mould (or some other smell) in these dungeon rooms. Very upset that having booked 11 months in advance for 2 couples in executive suite lake view rooms with balcony that we were assigned these totally unacceptable rooms.

This is quite simply one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. The building and setting are stunning. Our room (admittedly after a false start) was on the top floor with a balcony overlooking the lake. Extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfast on the terrace was the best start to the day. We had lunch in the gardens twice and enjoyed room service too. Our first night dinner at Darsena was excellent. The thing which really made the whole experience, however, was the staff. Without exception they were helpful, friendly, courteous and really went out of their way to make our stay special - at least that’s how we felt. From the wonderful concierge who could work a touch of magic to the doormen, the waiting staff, the head waiters at Dársena and the breakfast room and the poolside attendants constant Trying (and failing!) to chase away the ducks they made us feel welcome and relaxed. Can’t wait to return.

Excellent start to finish the service the food the grounds Form the first we arrived they were helpful to us in all ways. They arranged a boat around the lake and arranged some wonderful restaurants. The room was special and we cannot fault anything really

Phenomenal resort, the only observation is that they should consider replacing the grass on the lake side of the property with pebbles as it gets close to unwakable after it rains and with duck poop all over

We were so excited to visit Grand Fasano! Based on all the positive reviews and social media posts, we thought we were in for a really amazing experience. Ultimately, the hotel and its hospitality fell short is a lot of ways. These negatives started from before we even stepped foot in the hotel, and many lingered throughout the entire stay putting a bad taste in our mouths. Before getting into the details so you can make your own assessment, we will say that we still chose to give this review 3 stars, because we made the most of our time and did have a good time overall. With that being said, I will not recommend Fasano to any friends or relatives, and definitely won't be coming back. The first horrible experience we had was when we arrived at the train station and expected our private transfer (set up by the hotel) to be there waiting. It was nowhere to be found. Ok, no big deal, maybe they're a few minutes late. After 10 minutes, I called the hotel and said that the car wasn't there. I kid you not, the manager said "you gave us the wrong time so you're on your own and will have to pay the full price of the transfer because it wasn't our mistake." I was in shock. The truth, yes I gave the wrong time, but also the hotel asked for the train number to monitor the train's arrival time status; they clearly did not. Also, this is by far one of the worst ways to respond in that situation. It made me immediately feel as though as a guest I wasn't valued at all. I tried to put it out of mind, got in a cab, but when we arrived at the hotel the manager was waiting for us with a printout of the email where I gave the wrong time, trying to show me that it's my fault. This was shoved in my face before we were even greeted. I was not happy. Throughout our stay, the service staff (waiters and bartenders) were are so nice and accommodating. The front desk men were extremely rude, condescending, and didn't care about anything. Our AC didn't cool below 72 degrees Fahrenheit, and the front desk said they checked twice and it was working fine. Funny thing is, they lied because I was in the room and no one ever came, either time. We gave up. Another annoying thing is that the hotel advertises that they have 80+ varieties of gin and the menu even says to ask them for unique recommendations. The bartender who has been there for 10+ years and is featured on social media stood in a corner and couldn't be bothered. When we asked for a recommendation they said you can have Tanquerray. We thought it was a joke and said "we're looking to try something different or new from the selection." They recommended Bombay LOL. The hotel also nickel and dimes for everything. They have bikes on site that you can take out, which shockingly they charged for. At one of the restaurants they hand you a welcome glass of sparkling wine when you walk in that has no menu or pricing and then when the bill came it was on the bill. This was the best experience! The service was fantastic, the staff is so well trained, so friendly and accommodating! The service was perfect, the food was delicious, we ate all three locations on site. They arranged several excursions for us which were wonderful. Of course, the rooms are great and the facilities are wonderful. The day we left, our taxi to the train station cancelled due to traffic, and the front desk went out of their way to find us a new driver and changed our train tickets to another station to avoid the traffic jam. We would go back there in a hot second!!
