When we arrived at the hotel our booking resulted cancelled, but luckily the issue was fixed and we got a room. The room is quiet, bed comfortable, but the bathroom would require some refurbishment and styling.

Enjoyed my stay. Was disappointed that even with an elevator you still need to negotiate some stairs with luggage. The beds were a little uncomfortable. It is a beautiful location and the food was absolutely fabulous probably the best I had in Scotland. I would recommend this hotel just be conscious that you will still have some stairs to negotiate with luggage.

Excellent hotel. Warm welcome. Bar was excellent and bar man was a throw back to when people cared!

My experience with this hotel was incredibly disappointing, and *******'s lack of assistance in refunding my money made it even worse (although I booked another hotel the same night). It's evident that all the glowing reviews for this place are entirely misleading. Despite the promising pictures and positive feedback, the reality was a stark contrast. Room 206, assigned to us, was a nightmare. Mold infested every corner, from the window to the bathroom and the walls. The bed sheets were stained, the ceiling paint was peeling off right above the bed, blood stains adorned the pillowcases, and the curtains were riddled with unidentifiable spots. Room 136, which I occupied, fared slightly better but still fell far short of expectations. There were unsightly stains and molds on the bathroom walls, and even the towels were not spared from staining. The presence of mold in both rooms is a severe health hazard and entirely unacceptable. We promptly returned our keys to Stefan at the reception and checked out. However, he informed us that, as we had booked through *******, we needed to contact them for resolution. This ordeal not only cost us the money for the rooms but also the valuable time, emotional distress, and effort it took to scramble for another place at the last minute late in the evening. This experience was utterly disappointing and frustrating.

Room was very big as only one small electric heater was not enough. In the morning room was cold. Parking was not good. Not enough space.

The location is fabulous, staff was extremely nice and helpful and the food was excellent. The only complaint was the actual room. Very small shower, pealing paint over our heads, no heat with thin blankets and we had to lug our luggage up and down stairs to get to our room. Limited parking if you have a car. We were only there for one night so just decided to go for it. I would definitely stay there again but look at a different room!

Room was clean and comfortable. Staff are very helpful. Enjoyed an evening with entertainment in the lounge. Fabulous cooked buffet breakfast with good quality bacon and sausages. The only negative was the not very powereful shower above the bath.

Bit of TLC, maintenance and a tidy up outside would be great to see for this hotel that has potential to be quite grand. At the moment the room was ok and clean and reasonably priced. However, this was an exceptionally noisy hotel with large numbers coming in late and you could hear every sound from the neighbouring rooms.

It was nice to have the old fashioned charm which it managed to keep despite having to modernise some parts. Spacious room/bathroom. We managed to park ok, however that was on an evening where 3 coach parties were booked in. Had they been independent in own vehicles then I'm not sure where we would have parked. Finally, breakfast which was all nice. However, when we arrived the maitre d' said that we needed to order hot food as it had been out too long and would cook fresh (this was before 9am and before breakfast concluded). We asked a member of staff where there was a language barrier and had no idea what we were talking about. Eventually it was sorted. I'm grateful that he wanted to cook it fresh which is great but if this is usual then surely the staff should be briefed? However, none of this would put me off. Great location , very comfortable and would stay again.

Overall a pretty good stay given the price. Staff were friendly on arrival and there was ample space to park. The bedroom itself was very roomy which was nice and the biscuits in the tea/coffee tray were a lovely touch. The star of the show was the breakfast buffet in the morning which had a fantastic selection with both continental and cooked options. Highly recommend the tattie scones which were the best we had on our Scotland trip. A few things to note: - We booked a double room but our double bed was two single beds pushed together which left a dip in the mattress where the two mattresses met and was slightly uncomfortable to sleep in. - The bathroom felt a bit dated (and wasn't soundproof). This meant the sink was outside the toilet/shower area, the door was a sliding door and the shower, whilst perfect for me, was a little short for my partner who needed to bend down to fit into the pod.

Rain leaked into our room and on the night stand, I awoke to being splashed by water. Went downstairs to ask for a different room but they didn’t have anything available. They gave me some towels to stop the splashing. No refund, we were just told it was an old building and they sometimes leak. We were able to move to a different room for our second night.

Half the hotel has been upgraded and is fine the other half is in dire need of renovation and upgrading. This hotel takes contracts from tour bus companies and when these large number of tourists occupy the dining room, especially at breakfast time, there is very little choice left for other residents and in our experience the few staff were slow to replenish as they were rushed off their feet.

The hotel was a convenient stop over. An impressive building from the outside. Unfortunately due to the age of the property, we had a few issues. The old but beautiful sash window would not close, the staff were quick to sort it out for us. Also we all managed to get ourselves stuck at some point during our stay in the bathroom. The door handle didn’t twist, you had to just push and pull from either side with quite a lot of effort! We found it amusing but will need fixing! Generally the room needed a bit of updating but was still clean. We also missed out on some lovely pastries at breakfast due to a large coach group leaving early and swiping everything from the buffet. The rest of the breakfast was hot and tasty.
