This hotel provides everything you need for a luxury break in a very beautiful part of England. The accommodation was very comfortable, top quality food, well-trained staff who seem to enjoy taking good care of you.

Excellent personalised facial treatment. So relaxing I fear I actually fell asleep a couple of times... the therapist handled it with humour which was appreciated. There was a lack of communication after the treatment though regarding which room to go to. The spa facilities were small so if there are more than 4 other people in the thermal suite you would be very limited for space. The relaxation room was fitted with tea's and water with some biscuits. Again limited space in here but it opens out to the amazing views - would have been better if there were larger windows to enjoy this without having to go outside. Great service but not the biggest.

Great location - 10mins walk into Grasmere with excellent restaurants and a good starting point for walking routes. The hotel itself was laid back but luxurious. Excellent service and high quality food. The spa treatments were excellent and we'd definitely go back.

The best thing is the fantastic location. The spa is pleasant, not particularly big though and doesn't have any views which would have enhanced the experience.Breakfast was good. Rooms were alright, quite corporate in feel. It didn't feel like you were in the Lake District apart from when you looked out the window. A bit bland overall.

We were bought afternoon tea vouchers for a special birthday . When I booked I asked for no fish, unfortunately that wasn’t passed on. The afternoon tea was nice but the service was dreadful. The restaurant was extremely quiet, there was only us and 4 other people, there was more staff than customers , they were far from welcoming and no one came to check if everything was ok once they had left our afternoon tea. We had to go and ask 3 times for tea, we had cups, it took over three quarters of an hour for them to finally bring us a teapot. The people behind us complained as they were sat waiting nearly an hour before their afternoon tea came out, the couple in front of us commented to us as they left that the service was poor. We were very disappointed , not the birthday treat we expected

We spent five nights here in October and were lucky to only have one wet day. The location is wonderful, overlooking Grasmere and opposite Dove Cottage and the Wordsworth Museum. There is a bus stop close by the and the 555 & 559 are regular on the route, taking you down to Windermere or up to Keswick if you want to leave the car behind. Grasmere is a 10 minute walk away. We were in a club room which had a view over the side of the hotel (car park & hills beyond). It also had double opening doors. When you were lying in bed you couldn't see the car park - just the hills! We found the staff all very friendly, helpful and professional and were impressed with how breakfast and dinner were managed to ensure that you had prompt service and it wasn't over crowded. The restaurant team were great and we enjoyed the food. A good hot and cold buffet in the morning plus the option to order some dishes from the kitchen. We ate in the hotel on several nights and enjoyed the food, although the menu is fairly limited. On the first night there wasn't space in the restaurant so we ate in the Lounge but it wasn't a comfortable experience eating a meal from a coffee table when sat on a sofa. It's the same menu in both locations but not the same experience! The room was comfortable and the bathroom spacious with walk in shower and bath. We found the beds a bit hard but reception arranged for housekeeping to put a duvet under the bottom sheet to give a bit more padding, which worked okay. We had a couple of issues in the room, including the heating not working right but these were sorted out very quickly and they gave us a heater in the room in case we had any more problems with the heating (which we didn't). Things go wrong but it is how they are dealt with that is important and they certainly ensured they were all dealt with and very quickly. They did offer for us to move rooms but we were happy to stay where we were and impressed with their response. Moses the Reception Manager was so helpful in suggesting places to visit in the area, even being kind enough to put a route into our phone for us (and it was a great road trip!). We found all the Reception staff really kind and helpful. Having been to many establishments where their shortage of staff was evident, it was good to see that the Daffodil had sufficient staff to ensure good service and all appearing to be well trained and professional. It's easy to be picky about certain factors but what is important is the overall enjoyment of your stay and we enjoyed ours. I'd recommend the walk round Grasmere (although first bit is on main road) as it was a lovely walk that takes you all around the lake and into the village, where you can stop for tea. I'd happily return here. Thanks to all the staff for a great experience.

Firstly we love the Daffodil and have been visiting for many years and bought many vouchers for special gifts , but this time it didn’t get up to its usual mark , the restaurant was quiet we had booked for afternoon tea , the staff were a bit wooden not really welcoming at all in-fact they didn’t even break into a smile , especially the gentleman he really didn’t look happy which was very off putting the afternoon tea itself was lovely and the reception staff were lovely when I booked even asked what occasion it was for and took the name as it was a birthday celebration but nothing was even mentioned when we were taken to the table or when we left so disappointing service has made us think different about the Daffodil which is sad as it was always our go to for something special

Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Attentive and professional staff. Special shout out to Alex and Sally in the dining room. Food was absolutely superb. Room 301 was lovely but a bit tired. The bed is huge! Room had a lovely sitting area. Quirky artwork on the walls in hotel may not be to everyone’s taste. The spa was very pleasant, water could have been a bit warmer. Had a facial by Leah which was fabulous. A great base for our first visit to the Lake District, the low flying jets made our week. All in all a smashing place to spend our 25th wedding anniversary.
