Two of us had booked and prepaid for the watsr slide. I woke up with a backace and so asked if I could credir the psyment toward llunch. NO. So we did not eat thete, three of us and spend the day. So they LOST money. We live in CR and take our guests to these resorts. I will give Buana Vista a miss and stick to Borenquin where they treat you better.

We had a lovely stay with our family of four. Everyone we met was so kind and warm and friendly. We really felt welcome. The system for reserving activities could use some updating. It was a bit confusing but everyone was so nice and helpful, and everything worked out. The food at El Jaguar was amazing. The view from El Mirador was breathtaking. We enjoyed everything we did there

Buena vista was a one stop entrance into costa rica! It was very close to Liberia airport, had beautiful restaurant options, and was an immersive experience in the wilderness. Having hanging bridges on site was perfect for our group. Breakfast was classic lodge bfast, we liked the cinnamon banana juice :) Our guide Jose david was very silly and informative!

Austin our tour guide was awesome and very knowledgeable, highly recommended. My family and I had a blast. Very fun and in forgettable. Austin kept it fun and light. From one of the longest slide, to horseback riding, ziplines and spa, so fun.

We had such a fun filled day at this park! Jose was our guide, and he was very friendly and informative. Bring ones to tip each area!! You are supposed to arrive at 7:30 AM and most likely put with another group who will be with you for your entire day. We arrived later, but it worked out better for us because we just did the stuff we missed later in the day. Which I kind of enjoyed better, because we got to go out our own pace. When you arrive, you are put with other people and get a guide for the day. The guide takes you through each of the activities together. Our itinerary for the day started with the zip lines, then the Tarzan jump, horseback riding, cultural tour, waterslide, lunch, hot springs, and hanging bridges (by ourselves). Everything was so much fun! We were able to do the slide twice. We did the five course lunch, which was very delicious. It took a really long time though, so next time I would do the buffet. Overall, we had plenty of time after our activities to walk a trail and see monkeys! It was peaceful and quiet in the evening. This place is beautiful and full of nature. We saw toucans, coati, and monkeys. I wish we had stayed the night there. It is an easy hour drive from Liberia. I wore a swim suit with shorts and hiking sandals for the entire day. The springs were such a great way to end our day! You are able to spend as much time as you want there. They have a bar at the springs if you want to drink. Make sure to stop at the waterfall on the way to the springs!

Family trip to Rincon de la Vieja. We have to first say that the road that leads to Buena Vista is quite tricky at night. If you can manage to drive there in daylight, it’s much easier. As for the hotel, it’s pretty rustic but comfortable nonetheless. Waking up to the sound of birds is great. The food is good, especially the pizza at the mirador while watching the sunset. We did all the activities and they were really fun and exhilarating. We especially enjoyed the Ziplines, waterslide and Tarzan swing. Not for the faint at heart. Staff is very helpful and a special thanks to Oscar David, who helped make our activity day a memorable one. We also went hiking in the national park. The hike up to the falls is challenging and a lot of fun.

I booked direct through Bueno Vistas website. When we arrived they could not find my reservation even with a copy of the confirmation email. 45 minutes later a manager came out and said it was because they didn’t have a room available that we could stay in 2 consecutive nights. Okay… not the end of the world. In the meantime though, because of this delay we have missed the last shuttle to the hot spring. We rushed back from the hot springs on day 2 in order to move rooms so they could accommodate incoming guests. They asked me to pack up my things and haul them up to reception and then we would get a room later. This is at 1pm. Noooo. I will move my things one time to another room and that’s it. The staff seemed very put out by this and reluctantly handed over a key to an available room. The new room had no coffee for the morning. I’ve asked 4 different members of the staff since 3pm if housekeeping could drop off coffee. Still not here at 10 pm. The food is just ok at all 3 restaurants. Most of the staff we’ve interacted with seemed put out by simple questions. The service in the restaurants is slow to non existent. We sat at a table through sunset at El Mirador the first night and were never even acknowledged by the wait staff. No one at the host stand the greet you at Montana for breakfast. We bussed our own table on the patio. The hot springs are beautiful if you can get any time there! The only time we have been able to relax here was a few hours at the hot spring! Not sure that’s worth it.

We stayed for 3 nights in January. We were trying to find something close to the volcano and this was the only hotel available in the mountains and had many good reviews on tripadvisor. PROS: The rooms are very basic but clean. We had the lakeview rooms which are a good size. The breakfast was good, the two restaurants were good. Jaguar Pass activities were fun- horseback riding to waterfall was nice- had a private ride Jungle slide was a lot of fun. Zip lines were great and felt safe. Beautiful sunsets outside our room or at El Mirador Restaurant. Able to see iguanas, monkeys, coatis. CONS: It was extremely windy while we were there and with the rooms- the cabins are thin and kept us up a bit at night. The resort itself is very spread out - walk to breakfast can be 10-15 minutes depending on your location so be prepared to walk wherever you go. We booked the hotel to be able to use the hot springs but are only a few shuttles a day and the first day we arrived after 3 so we couldn't go at all which was a disappointment. The shuttles to the hotsprings were 8:30, 10, 12:30 and 3 pm. The shuttle takes 20 minutes to get there in a tractor. For the 10 am one- every day they had to do 2 tractors- might as well spread out the times to give more people an opportunity. There should be a shuttle out to the hotsprings at 4 pm too. The pool is small and freezing. The jungle slide was a lot of fun- but should be able to be used by guests whenever they want as there is nothing else to do on property. There is never a line so it should be an amenity. Jaguar Pass- The resort seemed to cater to the tour groups and daytrippers coming in to do the activities. We were told we had to book all our activities and specific times and had to make reservations for the shuttle- when we got to the places- no one had our reservations, I had to keep checking in with the front desk as we were given no info where to go for things, what to bring/wear, etc. Groups and daytrippers were given a guide to walk with them. Staff often seemed put out by questions. It was almost an hour drive to El Rincon de Viejo- if I had to do this again I would just stay by the beach and go out for a day trip or two- or I would spend the night at Hacienda Guachelpein as that is right next to the park and has the activities and tubing which was great.

Wonderful time at this wonderful resort. The people work hard every single day to make it a magical place. They even "rake" the ground to make it look nice! People are so friendly. Truly are eco too - you can compost all your food scraps and the food waste goes to the pigs and cows. So don't bring your polluting ways here - bring your eco mindset.

It was nice having eco-adventure activities right at the hotel (zip lining, horseback riding, etc.). The hot springs were also nice and relaxing (not fantastic to have to get pulled behind a tractor on the roughest road ever to get to the hot springs from the hotel but it was okay). The rooms were clean but no A/C. The prices at the restaurants were reasonable.

Fantastic day in Costa Rica for my family on New Years Eve day! Two adults and two teens had an unforgettable time! Didn’t stay at the hotel but instead did a private day tour with Ecotours from Tamarindo Beach (Jay our tour guide and our driver, sorry I don’t remember his name, were superb…..helpful, tons of information, super nice!). We did ziplines, horseback ride, hot springs, water slide, cultural presentation, and lunch (yummy!), took about 9hrs including the drive (2 hr drive). Overall a super well-run organization….clean, modern, professional, secure. Modern facilities for changing clothes for each adventure.

I stayed for a couple of nights at the beginning of my trip. The resort is nice, and the surroundings are beautiful. The staff is friendly and everyone always has a smile on their face. Special thanks to Daniel who guided my horseback trip to the waterfalls. Great experience! If you are looking for a quiet retreat, make sure you don't get a room by the pool. It was really loud until evening, which made it hard to relax and enjoy a nap after travelling for a long time. I would also recommend to confirm your taxi an hour before departure, as mine was never ordered and I missed the bus I was hoping to catch at a certain time. It happens. Not a big deal. Just good to know. All in all a nice stay!

Only did the zipline/horseback riding but didn't stay at the hotel. Felt very safe as the staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Problem happened when I went to order the pictures they take of you on the excursions. They took my money, but never sent the pics (a link to my email). As I was on vacation, I didn't check emails until I got home. There was nothing so I reached out. They replied they sent the link the same day I purchased it. Link had since expired (after only a week?!). I reached out again, no reply. Not only wasted money on pics, but now have no documentation of an exciting day which happened to also be my birthday.

I absolutely loved the place until we realized there wasn’t AC in the cabins.
